Chi-pao is a kind of traditional clothes; it is regarded as a national costume, playing an irreplaceable role in the Chinese history. As China developed, the strict requirements on dresses did as well. History is a double-sided mirror,; we can know the past and we can find the direction ifor future development. when it comes to reform and openness, China imports foreign culture and exports domestic culture as well. This essay uses the history of Chi-pao as the background, consults the reference to analyse the brand of Chinese domestic Chi-pao characteristics, summarize the fashionable trend. Recently, Chi-pao is worn in many kinds of important occasions such as foreign affairs, public performances and so on. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the current situation of Chi-pao, make Chi-pao more international, and show the Chinese history to the world.
Sik-hye(rice beverage) made of grain and malt is one of the typical traditional soft drink special day and as a seasonal food in these days as in those. In order to investigate the kind and the temporal variation of the raw materials and the cookery of the sik-hye, the literature survey was carried out. The related literatures after the 'Su-mun-sa-sul' published in 1740, which is known as the first detailed record of the sikhye, were collected. Among them, the 30 references were chosen for further investigation of the changes of the material and the cookery. The sik-hye was classified into two groups of a sweet rice drink type and sikhai type. The former includes sikhye, gamju and dansul, and the latter Andong sikhye. When to drink, how to drink, meterials and how to make according to the type of sikhye descirbed in the literatures were also summarised.

In terms of world system theory, the historical period of Yanbian area was divided into 3 parts: Japan colonial period which was assigned to the periphery of world system, socialist period which escaped from the world system, and the reform-open period that was reincorporated to world system. The cultural character of each period was studied. The conclusions are as follow. During the period of periphery of world system, Yanbian area as an area where the massed Korean people lived, was dominated by Korean peninsular culture. However, Yanbian area was also affected by the Japanese and Chinese cultural assimilation policy. During the period that Yanbian area aparted from the world system, it was affected by the requirement of unique socialist culture assimilation, and traditional cultures were hard to keep. During the period of reincorporation to the world system with lighten of minority policy by Chinese government, traditional national culture begin revived, but due to extend intercourse of Yanbian with China mainland and Republic of Korea, China-Korean culture of Yanbian area was strongly affected by Chinese and Korean culture too.
This study sought to find out the level of perception of postpartal care and the meaning and opinion of traditional postpartal care (Sanhujori) from health professional. The subjects were 188 health professionals who work at University hospital, clinics, Oriented clinics, and midwifery clinics in Seoul and Chung-Buk, Korea. Data were collected from 8th April, 1999 to 6th May, 1999. The data were analyzed through the SPSS program by use of frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffe test as a post hoc contrast, $x^2$-test, and stepwise multiple regression. The results of the study were as follows: mean age of the subject was 33.0 years and female was 58.0%. Occupation of the subject was nurse 28.7%, doctor 22.3%, midwife 21.3 Korean Oriental doctor 27.0%. Mean period of career was 7.6 years and the subject who experienced Sanhujori was 54.3%. The subject who did not know 6 principles of Sanhujori was 73.9%. In the opinion on traditional Sanhujori method 68.1% of respondents expressed that Sanhujori is scientific postpartal care which fits Korean people's physical constitution and culture. On the opinion of effective postpartal care in 97.9% of respondents expressed that it is to in hospital postpartal care and traditional Sanhujori perform it according to Korean culture constitution. On the opinion of Sanhujori, 96.6% of respondents expressed that it is necessary to understand Sanhujori with consideration which was adapted to Oriental culture and to verify it through continual study. On the opinion of the effect of the level of performance of Sanhujori upon women's health life, 43.2% of respondents expressed that the level of performance of Sanhujori has great effect on women's general health, including postpartal recovery, Sanhujori prevention, and so on. On the opinion of Sanhujori of women who undergo Caesarean operation, 57.7% of respondents expressed that women who undergo Caesarean operation perform Sanhujori with more attention. On the opinion of Sanhujori center (sanhujorwon), 56.3% of respondents expressed that the center is necessary for women's health and health professional are required to manage the center scientifically. On considering the level of importance of post care according to occupation, midwife showed highest level of importance of traditional Sanhujori doctor the lowest level. Midwife showed the hi level of importance of postpartal care and K Oriental doctor showed the lowest level of importance of women's postpartal care. On considering the relationship between the level of importance of postpartal care and general characteristics, sex, career, clinical department and whether they know 6 principles of Sanhujori or not were statistically significant at the level of 5%. In the stepwise multiple regression analysis, the main influencing variables on the level of importance of postpartal care were occupation, sex, and clinical department. In conclusion, this finding confirmed that professionals were considering the traditional Sa importantly for women's health. Above all things necessary for health professional to integrate concept of traditional Sanhujori into practical nu intervention program, to apply it to profes practices in order to reestablish effective integrative postpartal caring system, and to Sanhujori scientific through performing continual research.
This study attempted to develop fundamental data of nursing intervention for Women's health improvement through literature review related to women's health. Women's health problems are focused in nursing because the quality of women's health influences on public health directly and indirectly. Especially women experience more stressors and mental disorders than men. This paper reviewed rationale of mental problems to understand Women's mental problems through various research paper analysis. As a result, it was found that women's mental problems as well as the health were affected by various factors and were connected with social, cultural elements closely. This result means that women are affected by social, economical, psychological states from gender unequality in this society. So to solve the women's mental problems, women have to be considered as human beings, women, mothers with multiple roles. And like Hwabyung, one of the women's mental problems related to Korean traditional culture, nursing needs to be done to solve the problem through cultural approach. To do this, nursing has to research negative effect as well as positive effect on women's mental health by modern culture which includes "Han" and traditional family culture. The multidisplinary, interdisplinary communication is important to develop nursing intervention and nursing must build a pertinent Korean women's mental health research system to improve a sociopolitical environment.
The purposes of the study were (1) to analysis Korean traditional wedding costumes through families's wedding photographs from 1940 to 2000, and (2) to categorize bride and groom's costumes according to the wedding time by means of a time series analysis. (3) to find out functional relationship among changes in garment types, garment details, embellishments and colors. The study was a documentary research and data were collected from 390 family wedding photographs by a convenient sampling. The data were analyzed by qualitative and quantitative method and the statistic used were frequency, content analysis, and cross-tab analysis. The results were as follows; First, the garments of wedding couples were categorized into 5 period according to garment's characteristics. 1. The period between 1940~1959 : Korean traditional wedding costumes and western style wedding costumes were existed together in Korean wedding culture. 2. The period between 1960~early 1970's western wedding costumes were dominated. 3. The period of late 1970's : wedding couple's costumes became more formal and decorative. 4. The period of 1980's : introducing see-through materials for brides and tuxedo suit for grooms. 5. The period of 1990's : extravagance in shapes and exposure. Second, there were significant relationships among brides's dress types and neckline, glove length, embellishments and transparency of materials and among groom's garment types and necktie types, types and color of shirts, vests. Third, the time series analysis of bride and groom's outfit produced 5 schematic expressions of wedding outfits according to the period.
This study evaluated the antioxidative activity and quality characteristics of Sulgidduk (traditional rice cakes) prepared with ramie leaf powder, in order to measure the antioxidative activity of ramie leaves, which are a potentially useful antioxidant food. Antioxidant activities were measured by total phenolic contents, the scavenging activities of DPPH radicals and ABTS+ radicals, and the reducing power. The total phenolic content of freeze dried ramie leaves was estimated at $58.70{\pm}11.42mg$ GAE/g. The $IC_{50}$ values for DPPH radicals and the ABTS+ radical scavenging activity of the ramie leaves were $23.76{\pm}1.41ug/mL$ and $174.82{\pm}6.4ug/mL$, respectively. The leaves also showed a high reducing power of $1.1057{\pm}0.03$ (O.D). To increase the utilizability of ramie leaf, we made Sulgidduk with added ramie leaf powder. Re-grading the quality characteristics of the altered Sulgidduk, the 3% and 5% addition levels most satisfied texture profile analysis and sensory evaluation. The antioxidative effect of the Sulgidduk significantly increased as the addition level increased, compared to the original Sulgidduk. In term of DPPH radical scavenging activity, the 5% or more addition level Sulgidduk showed an antioxdative effect increase of more than 50%. At the 3% or higher addition level, there was higher antioxidant activity than in the positive control group, which included vitamin C and BHT additions. We thus concluded that Sulgidduk with added ramie leaf power can be manufactured as a food that can satisfy sensory preferences as well as boosting antioxidant activity, at both the 3% and 5% addition level.
This study was conducted to investigate and analyze food related and space related elements of popular Vietnamese restaurants in Hong Kong to identify restaurant images related to food, to examine how Vietnamese traditions are applied to such restaurants, and ultimately, to get their implications for us. Luxury Vietnamese restaurants in Hong Kong tended to be located in major office buildings and famous shopping malls in the downtown area; therefore, they were highly accessible to foreigners. In addition, most Vietnamese restaurants were quite formal in size or atmosphere. The food-related elements of the luxury restaurants reproduced traditional menus, but the table setting and service generally adopted a formal Western style setting. The presentation of foods was also creative and contemporary, to suit international customers' tastes. Regarding the spatial elements, restaurants serving traditional menus had interiors influenced by the French colonial period, while those serving contemporarily adapted menus had interiors with simple contemporary images emphasized by Vietnamese traditional decorations. These characteristics allowed foreigners from diverse countries to access the restaurants without a sense of rejection. Casual restaurants were primarily exposed to many people on busy roadsides, but they tended to be inferior in terms of size and quality. Apart from size and price level, food-related elements failed to reflect Vietnamese unique traditional characteristics. The outward appearance consisted of basic construction materials (glass, chassis, and bamboo) instead of those representing Vietnamese architecture. Additionally, the interior of the casual restaurants contained traditional elements or objects more frequently than luxury restaurants, but they looked rather disorderly and lacked harmony. Overall, the image of casual restaurants was degraded by the use of cheap and low quality finishing materials and furniture. The results of this study may be useful for organizations promoting the Branding of Korea or businesspeople and designers promoting the globalization of Korean foods.

This study discusses the traditional costume of Korea and Japan and cognitive factors affecting its recognition by conducting a survey on both Korean and Japanese students so that comparative analysis of the differences about whether to rent or own traditional costume and about whether the students surveyed have visited the other country reciprocally, can be made to set the future course of the traditional costume which have gradually been worn less frequently and favored by less people. College students of Japan and Korea were chosen for this study and asked to fill in a questionnaire. 491 respondents were analyzed using SPSS10.0 for frequency analysis, factors analysis and t-test. Findings of this study are as follows: Firstly, there were 7 factors affecting the Korean student's recognition of Hanbok while 6 factors involved in Japanese student's recognition of Kimono. Korean students thought highly of the traditional costume and yet had less knowledge of it compared to the Japanese students. Secondly, analysis of the student's recognition of their counterpart's traditional costume showed that there were equally 4 factors affecting the student's recognition. Students found the traditional costume difficult to wear and uncomfortable when worn. Japanese students regarded Hanbok as an abstract form of the traditional Korean culture while Korean students viewed Kimono as a realistic form of something concrete. Thirdly, analysis of the differences about the recognition based on the student's owning or renting the traditional costume. or visiting the counterpart's country, showed that students owning the traditional costume were more positive about the traditional costume and well versed in it. And students having visited their counterpart's country thought more favorably of the traditional costume of their counterpart.
Jecheon is a place of Korean Medicine with many historical characters, medical tales and cultures. One of the most renowned characters is Lee Gong Gi(李公沂), a 扈聖功臣 (title given to the 86 people that escorted king Seonjo during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592) at the level of Huh Jun(許浚) and famous royal physician of Joseon who served King Seonjo and reached the highest position of chief physician. He was recognized for his talent as a royal physician and was conferred with the title of 扈聖功臣 Rank 3 after attending on King Seonjo during the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. Despite the fact that he was a renowned man of medicine, he didn't get as much attention as 許浚 or Yang Ye Soo(楊禮壽) because documents on his work had not been studied. In this study, the author was able to study Lee Gong Gi(李公沂) based on documents such as "朝鮮王朝實錄(True Record of the Joseon Dynasty)", "內醫院先生案(Naeeuiwonseonsengan)", "醫科先生案(Euigwaseonsengan)" and on "避難行錄(Pinanhengrok)" by Yakpo Jeongtak (1526~1605) who was a govemmental pharmacist at the time of Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592. According to "內醫院先生案" and "醫科先生案", Lee Gong Gi's son Lee Young Nam followed his father's footsteps and became the chief royal pharmacist and 崇政大夫(one of the governmental titles of Joseon Dynasty). As for Jecheon's Korean medical traditions, many forms of medical tales and cultures are preserved such as the tales of Neokgogae, Mountain Ami's medical water cave, Otmaru and Seonsimgol. These tales are divided into various types of great doctors, medical herbs and devoted sons and have been passed down With the origin of traditional medicine still intact. Moreover, ancient documents and artifacts on Traditional Korean Medicine that reflect the area's medical culture have been discovered. Not only is Jecheon a place of medical culture but along with Jecheon Drug Market it also carries on the tradition of medical herbs production and possesses the largest new medical herbs market in Korea. In conclusion, Jecheon is a traditional place of Korean Medicine with many medical cultures and characters from a unique history.
