Therefore, this study has constructed an integrated model including the moderating effects of FTA information learning on the of export performance in SME. The relationship between SMEs' localization strategy, product innovation capacity, and FTA information learning was linked to export performance, and an empirical analysis was conducted on 195 export SMEs. The path analysis was performed using the structural equation model(SEM), and six hypotheses including the control effect were tested. As a result, the localization strategy of SMEs positively influenced product innovation capacity. On the other hand, FTA information learning did not show significant results. Product innovation capacity and FTA information learning as an antecedents showed significant results in terms of export performance. In the moderated effects analysis, the moderated effect between the localization strategy and FTA information learning did not show significant effect on the product innovation capacity. Whereas the moderated effect between the product innovation capacity and the FTA information learning significant influence on the export performance of SMEs.

  • Purpose: This paper aims to evaluate the quality of Small & Medium Enterprises(SMEs) Survey and to provide some desirable directions and improvements for the future SMEs Survey, conducted by the Government. Methods: The diagnosis were performed by employing the quantitative and qualitative approaches with the official guideline provided by the Ministry of Statistics. Results: Results show that follow-up management are evaluated relatively low in specific processes, and timeliness are evaluated relatively lower than accuracy, accessibility, relevance, comparability and consistency in statistical qualities. Conclusion: we propose the alternatives which enhance the quality level of SMEs by using the 6 tools of Quality Management for Statistics.

  • This study aims to analyze the factors that could influence business decisions of in the commercialization of R&D when technology is transferred from government research institutes (GRIs) to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). We examine 353 such cases of technology transfer. The dependent variable is whether the licensee had the intention of following up with R&D after the technology has been transferred. The independent variables, classified into ex-ante factors and ex-post factors, consist of the involvement of SMEs into GRI R&D, technology readiness level, relatedness to existing technologies, and contribution to sales revenue and level-up of existing technologies. The results of the study show that the contribution to existing technologies has a positive impact on R&D commercialization. However, unlike our expectation, contribution to sales revenue, the involvement of SMEs into GRI R&D, technology readiness level, the relatedness to existing technologies of the technology transferred have no impact on follow-up R&D.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of business scope and technological capability on firm performance in SMEs. Existing studies on business scopes and technological capabilities have focused on the unilateral relationships with financial performances. This study examines the independent and interaction effects of business scopes and technological capabilities on financial performances of SMEs in capital industries. Based on 228 firm-level data, technological capabilities have positively significant impacts on performance. Business scope measured by product variety and number of buyers have been significantly positive relationships to financial performances. Also SMEs with technological capabilities can moderate the effects of business scope on their performances. However, the results show different relationships depending on measurements on business scope, technological capabilities and performance. The results provide interesting findings on strategic behaviors of SMEs when they pursue growth strategy through expanding business scopes and building technological capabilities.

  • Due to the global business environments and severe competitions, SMEs have carried out IS projects for their competitive advantages. However, numerous organizations have faced with difficulties in the IS project management such as large amounts of IT expenses and uncertainties in project implementations. Thus, this study is intended to discover critical risk factors in the IS project management. To achieve this research goal, we have mailed questionnaires to SMEs and SI companies that experienced IS project failures and 63 usual data were collected. The result of analysis with step wise regression showed that 6 factors are related with IS project failures. The study contributes to the literature in two ways. First, this paper empirically identifies IS risk factors for SME manufactures. Second, this research result can be utilized as a checklist for the successful IS implementations. Limitations and future research topics are also discussed.

  • In this paper, a design scheme of SMES coil with HTS wire(BSCCO 2223) for least stray field and conductor consumption is presented. Three types of coils (solenoid, multiple solenoid, and modular toroid) have been considered. Shape and size of the coil was decided by line element method with evolution strategy and confirmed with Finite Element Method. Modular toroid displayed least stray field with given conductor length. The goal of the study is to establish designing technology of a HTS coil for SMES which works in relatively high magnetic field.
