  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationships between safety knowledge, health beliefs and self-efficacy in child care teachers. Method: The participants were 394 teachers from child care centers in Seoul city. Data collection was done using a questionnaire that included a Safety Knowledge Test, Health Belief Scale and Self-efficacy Scale. Descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to analyze the data. The SPSS 11.0 Win program was used for analysis. Results: The mean was 12.11 for safety knowledge, 38.31 for health belief, and 91.07 for self-efficacy. There were statistically significant differences in the degree of safety knowledge according to safety education, in the level of health beliefs according to length of service as a teacher and in the degree of self-efficacy according to age, and length of service as a teacher. There were statistically significant positive correlations between safety knowledge and health belief, and between safety knowledge and self-efficacy of child care teachers. Conclusion: According to the results, programs to improve safety knowledge, health beliefs and self-efficacy of child care teachers should be developed and used to decrease the proportion of accidents involving children in Korea.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine how child development knowledge, child rearing knowledge, and use of healthcare services after discharge affect maternal confidence among mothers of premature infants. Methods: Participants in this study were 55 mothers who were involved in internet communities for mothers with premature infants and 30 mothers who visited hospitals for follow up care after having their babies discharged from Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) in South Korea. Results: Presence of operation history, child development and rearing knowledge, and use of healthcare service explained 12.2% of maternal confidence. Presence of operation history (${\beta}=.32$, p<.05) and child development knowledge (${\beta}=.52$, p<.05) were significant predictors for maternal confidence. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that mothers with premature infants need further education especially on motor development, developmental knowledge, and knowledge related to operations for mothers whose child had surgery in the NICU. Also information about services provided from community health services for premature infants need to be advertised and distributed.

In prevention and dental treatment knowledge category, the average score of female are higher than male. The concern of oral health, the experience of oral health education and the number of toothbrush are significantly different in the knowledge category. In dental fear category, the number of dental pain, the visiting is treatment, the recognize of dental state, the number of toothbrush and the change of dental visiting date are significantly different. In the prevention knowledge according to dental fear state, low fear group 7.03 is higher than high fear group. In the dental treatment knowledge according to dental fear state, high fear group 7.15 is higher than low fear group. In personal temperament, there are not significantly relationship between prevention knowledge, dental treatment knowledge and dental fear. These findings are basis to development of education programs which were included prevention and dental treatment knowledge before visiting dental clinics for reducing dental fear.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the MKT(Mathematical Knowledge for Teaching) of the in-service mathematics teachers on the statistics(Representative value, Degree of scattering) through the comparative analysis between the sub-elements of the MKT. In addition, it is to examine the factors that cause the difference of the subjects' MKT. To accomplish this, by the subject of 12 secondary in-service mathematics teachers, in this study the test items of the MKT on the statistics were developed and data were collected and analyzed. As a result of the analysis of the MKT test sheet, the CCK(Common Content Knowledge) and SCK(Specialized Content Knowledge) of the mathematics teacher was confirmed as a high score, whereas the and KCS(Knowledge of Content and Students) and KCT(Knowldge of Curriculum and teaching) were confirmed as low scores. In addition, through these results, it was shown that the difference in MKT's elements the middle school and high school teachers obtain occurred slightly.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate mathematics content knowledge(MCK) of pre-service teachers about the area of a circle. 53 pre-service teachers were asked to perform four tasks based on the central ideas of measurement for the area of a circle. The results of this study are as follows. First, pre-service teachers had some difficulty in describing the meaning of the area of a circle. Quite a few of them didn't recognize the necessity of counting the number of area units. Secondly, pre-service teachers had insufficient content knowledge about the central ideas of measurement for the area of a circle such as partitioning, unit iteration, rearranging, structuring an array and approximation. Lastly, few pre-service teachers understood the concept of actual infinity. Most students regarded the rectangle as the figure having the approximation error instead of the limitation from rearranging the parts of a circle.

This research also has applied to resource based view, adaptive structuration theory, service innovation, ICT relatedness to find out performance effect on healthcare service innovation and service performance. In other words, organization structure environment and ICT relatedness are important factors to promote interaction between healthcare service providers and customers like patients each other, moreover, to share the tacit knowledge by creating in the interaction. Moreover in order to verify model fitness, this research has surveyed among healthcare specialists, technicians and other staffs. Model verification result, all hypotheses have been found to give a positive effect on the creation and significantly. Structured organizational environment and ICT association is to promote the organization's functions by influencing the behavior of the service organization and patient interaction and knowledge sharing, and suggests that the major factors influencing the innovation performance of hospitals and health care services.

  • Service-learning is a form of experiential education in which students participate in organized activities and develop a sense of civic responsibility while acquiring content knowledge of the discipline. The purpose of this study was first, to examine the underlying theories and principles of service-learning, and second, to present a case of systemic implementation of problem-based service-learning into a Product Innovation and Management class in higher education. The New Product Development for an E-Commerce Small Business project was developed for a community partner, BevShots, reflecting the needs of the firm, and was tightly woven into the course content. Students' participation in the project had a significant effect on increasing their awareness of the needs in the community and identifying their roles as citizens as well as enhancing their content knowledge learning. The community partner also received benefits for his business by participating in the project. Through this study, we aim to inspire fashion design and merchandising educators to implement service-learning projects/classes in the curriculum.

  • Purpose: This study was done to help provide patients with information on medical insurance cost through medical insurance education for nurses, to increase effective management, check on omissions in treatment and appropriateness and accuracy of fees, and to contribute to the economic growth of hospital by providing nurses with necessary knowledge about medical insurance cost. Method: The participants in this study were clinical nurses in general hospitals. The study instrument was a questionnaire developed by the researcher through reference to data for medical insurance education. The data were analyzed with percentages, means, ANOVA, and Duncan method using SPSS PC+10. Result: The results on knowledge of medical insurance according to general characteristics of the nurses showed that there were significant differences according to age: (p=.0036) highest level of education (p=.0007), position (p=.0010) and place where education on medical insurance was received (p=.0093). Conclusion: Continuous in-service education for clinical nurses is reflected in increased knowledge about medical insurance costs but special attention needs to be given to younger nurses and nurses with less education, as well as staff nurses, and those nurses who only received education on medical insurance during their schooling. Accordingly, in-service education is necessary for nurses at the time of orientation so that they have knowledge on standards for recuperation allowance, guidelines to calculate material costs, and guidelines to calculate drug rates. In addition, as medical insurance cost frequently change, all nurses need continuous in-service education.
