Development of Magnetic Phase Detection Sensor for the Steam Generator Tube in Nuclear Power Plants

  • A new eddy current testing probe was developed to separate the eddy current signal distortion caused by permeability variation clusters and ordinary defects created in steam generator tubes. Signal processing circuits were inserted into the probe to increase the signal-to-noise ratio and allow digital signal transmission. The new probe could measure and separate the magnetic phases created in the steam generator tubes in the operating environment of a nuclear power plant. Furthermore, the new eddy current testing probe can measure the defects in steam generator tubes as rapidly as a bobbin probe with enhanced testing speed and reliability of defect detection.

  • An induction watthour meter was designed for use on circuits in which the voltage and current are essentially sinusoidal. As the application of switching devices has been increased, the waveforms of voltage and current have involved the harmonics. Therefore, power energy involving voltage and current with the harmonics is supplied to the system and the registration error of watthour meter is existed. In this paper, we experimented on the error of watthour mesurement under the sinusoidal and nonsinusoidal input source.

  • Linear Induction Motor is driven by inverter for speed control. Inverter contains many harmonics that was generated when the circuits is switching for a energy conversion. This harmonics is injurious, and harmful on the operational efficiency of motors.   • This paper treats the dynamic analysis and test results of Linear Induction Motor. The dynamic analysis is performed by the d,q axis equivalent-circuit model. Equivalent-circut parameters are obtained with no-load, lock test and field analysis. As a results, simulation results are compared with that of dynamic test.

  • The input voltage of linear induction motors (LIMs) driven by inverter, involves the time harmonics. Therefore the equivalent circuit for an inverter-fed LIMs has to be modified to represent every harmonic in supply voltage. In this paper, the equivalent circuit with considering harmonics is composed. Each parameters of the equivalent circuit obtained by static test are presented. The characteristics of LIM is reviewed by composed equivalent.

  • The precise measurement of consumed power during the given time is very important in the energy management aspect. Up to days, induction watthour meter has been designed for use in the alternating circuits in which the voltage and current are essentially sinusoidal. The use of switching elements in power system causes the current or voltage involving harmonics. Therefore the registration error is caused by harmonics in the equipment for measuring power. This paper presents the registration error of the induction watthour meter in the presence of harmonic distortion. The accuracy of a watthour meter on loads in which the input source is not sinusoidal is investigated. And the effects of individual harmonic are reported by experiment.

  • In a transformer, thermal stress is the most influential parameter affecting the aging behavior of insulation system. The aging behavior of insulation system in transformer is determined mainly by the thermal conditions inside the transformer. The thermal stress on the insulation system may occur from operation in a high temperature caused by overloading or local overheating. Thus, this paper investigated the condition monitoring of insulation condition in thermally accelerated aged transformer oils by in-situ sensor. The condition of aged samples was investigated by measurements of relative permittivity i.e. capacitance change by capacitive sensor. Results from the experiments are presented in this paper.

  • In this paper, a novel method which can recognize noised patterns by using a neural network is proposed. Patern recognition is processed by two networks and the processing mechanism is partially based on the results of neurophysiological studies. Synaptic activitoes of combining neurons between layers are implemented by spatial filters which approximate receptive fields of the modelled optic nerve cells.
