Design of 256Kb EEPROM IP Aimed at Battery Applications (배터리 응용을 위한 1.5V 단일전원 256Kb EEPROM IP 설계)

  • In this paper, a 256Kb EEPROM IP aimed at battery applications using a single supply of 1.5V which is embedded into an MCU is designed. In the conventional cross-coupled VPP (boosted voltage) charge pump using a body-potential biasing circuit, cross-coupled PMOS devices of 5V in it can be broken by the junction or gate oxide breakdown due to a high voltage of 8.53V applied to them in exiting the program or erase mode. Since each pumping node is precharged to the input voltage of the pumping stage at the same time that the output node is precharged to VDD in the cross-coupled charge pump, a high voltage of above 5.5V is prevented from being applied to them and thus the breakdown does not occur. Also, all erase, even program, odd program, and all program modes are supported to reduce the times of erasing and programming 256 kilo bits of cells. Furthermore, disturbance test time is also reduced since disturbance is applied to all the 256 kilo bits of EEPROM cells at once in the cell disturb test modes to reduce the cell disturbance testing time. Lastly, a CG driver with a short disable time to meet the cycle time of 40ns in the erase-verify-read mode is newly proposed.

High-Pressure Synthesis and Chemistry of Amphibole Solid Solutions along the Joint Tremolite-Tschermakite (투각섬석-처마카이트 각섬석 고용체의 고압합성 및 화학적 성질)

  • Clacic amphiboles along the tremolite (Tr)-tschermakite(Ts) joint were synthesized using a piston-cylinder appratus. At 750-85$0^{\circ}C$and 12-2 kb, amphibole+corundum coexist with zoisite($\pm$talc, chlorite, and Mg-staurolite), but with anorthite($\pm$cholorite, spinel, pyroxenes, and sapphirine) at lower P. At 90$0^{\circ}C$, amphibole+corundum+clinopyroxene($\pm$anorthite, forsterite, sapphirine, and garnet) are stable over the P range 12-18 kb. These amphibole-bearing assemblages are replaced at high P by clcinopyroxene+talc+chlorite+zoisite at 650-75$0^{\circ}C$, and at higher temperatures by garnet+clinopyroxene($\pm$zoisite, orthopyroxene, and Mg-staurolite). Synthetic amphiboles with Ts>~45 mol% contain as much as 0.15 excess cations per formula unit(pfu) based on 23 oxygens(anhydrous formula), whereas less tschermakitic ones are deficient in cation occupancy by up to 0.18 pfu. This trend is attributed to the 야/trioctahedral substitution in Ca-amphiboles. Compositions of synthetic amphiboles display systematic changes with P and T governed by coexisting mineral assemblages. The Ts content (=[8-Si-Na]/2) increases with increasing T( Ts/ T=~0.1 nik% K-1) in the range 750-85$0^{\circ}C$, but remains nearly constant at 850-90$0^{\circ}C$. Pressure dramatically affects the Ts content of Ca-amphiboles:it increases with P at 8-12 kb( Ts/ T=2-3 mol% K-1), but significantly decreases at 12-21 kb( Ts/ P=-2.5 mol% Kb-1). Hence, the most tschermakitic amphiboles, containing 60$\pm$5 mol % Ts, or 1.2$\pm$0.1 tetrahedral Al, occur at 12 kb and 850-90$0^{\circ}C$. Compositions of Ca-amphiboles defined by a simple reaction, 3 Tr+2 zoisite+7 corundum+H2O=5 Ts, are reversed and used to estimate thermodynamic parameters of tschermakite assuming ideal mixing of Tr-Ts solid solutions. Predicted standard molal entropy and enthalpy of tschermakite are : S$^{\circ}$of Tr-Ts solid solutions. A putative prolyl tRNA synthetase is involved in pheromone induction in Schizosaccharomyces pombe (Schizosaccharomyces pombe의 pheromone 유도와 연관된 prolyl tRNA synthetase)

  • Previously, six Schizosaccharomyce pombe mutants that induce pheromone even in the presence of nitrogen source were isolated from a bank of temperature sensitive mutants. In this report, one of these mutants, pws6 was further characterized. The pheromone induction in pws6 mutant cells was specific to nutrient: the M-factor pheromone was induced without nitrogen starvation but not without glucose starvation. This result suggests that the pws6 mutant might have a specific defect in the pathway for nitrogen starvation. The pws6 mutant induces P-factor pheromone as well as M-factor without starvation of nitrogen in temperature sensitive mode, suggesting that the pheromone induction phenotype of pws6 mutation is not cell-type specific. From cloning of the $pws6^+$ gene by complementation of the temperature sensitive growth defect, three plasmids containing 8.1 kb, 3.3 kb, and 4.8 kb yeast DNA were recovered. These plasmids complement the growth defect of the pws6 mutant by 100%, 70%, and 10~20%, respectively. The abilities of these plasmids to complement pheromone induction phenotype of pws6 mutant cells were correlated well with the efficiencies of complementation of the growth defect. With comparison of their open reading frames to the complementation efficiencies, it is concluded that the open reading frame, SPBC19C7.06 is responsible for the complementation of temperature sensitive phenotype of the pws6 mutant. This open reading frame, named prs1, contains one long exon with no intron and encodes a putative prolyl tRNA synthetase. The putative Prs1 protein exhibits significant similarities to the prolyl tRNA synthetases of other species.

Design of Low-Area DC-DC Converter for 1.5V 256kb eFlash Memory IPs (1.5V 256kb eFlash 메모리 IP용 저면적 DC-DC Converter 설계)

  • In this paper, a 1.5V 256kb eFlash memory IP with low area DC-DC converter is designed for battery application. Therefore, in this paper, 5V NMOS precharging transistor is used instead of cross-coupled 5V NMOS transistor, which is a circuit that precharges the voltage of the pumping node to VIN voltage in the unit charge pump circuit for the design of a low-area DC-DC converter. A 5V cross-coupled PMOS transistor is used as a transistor that transfers the boosted voltage to the VOUT node. In addition, the gate node of the 5V NMOS precharging transistor is made to swing between VIN voltage and VIN+VDD voltage using a boost-clock generator. Furthermore, to swing the clock signal, which is one node of the pumping capacitor, to full VDD during a small ring oscillation period in the multi-stage charge pump circuit, a local inverter is added to each unit charge pump circuit. And when exiting from erase mode and program mode and staying at stand-by state, HV NMOS transistor is used to precharge to VDD voltage instead of using a circuit that precharges the boosted voltage to VDD voltage. Since the proposed circuit is applied to the DC-DC converter circuit, the layout area of the 256kb eFLASH memory IP is reduced by about 6.5% compared to the case of using the conventional DC-DC converter circuit.

  • 본 논문에서는 NVRAM(Non-volatile Random Access Memory) 주 기억장치를 위한 메모리 컨트롤러를 설계한다. NVRAM의 비 휘발성과 낮은 정적 에너지 소모의 장점을 활용하는 한편, 상대적으로 느린 읽기/쓰기 속도 및 큰 쓰기 전력 소모를 개선하기 위해 새로운 캐시 구조를 제안한다. FPGA를 활용하여 Block RAM 128KB 1차 캐시, 16KB 2차 캐시 및 캐시 컨트롤러를 포함하는 메모리 컨트롤러를 구현하였고 NVRAM은 FeRAM를 사용하였다.

  • 고온 호알카리성 Bacillus K-17의 Protease gene의 구조해명과 성질을 알기 위해서, E. coli HB101에 pER 322를 Vector로 하여 Protease gene을 Cloning하여 형질전환 된 균주를 선정하였다. 선정균주의 pretense activity를 Bacillus K-17의 상대활성도와 매우 유사하였으며 균체외에 보다 많은 효소 활성도를 지니고 있었다. 제한효소 Hind III로 절단하면 약 1.8kb와 0.4kb의 2개의 fragments 가 생성되었으며 Southern hybridization 결과 Cloning 된 gene이 Bacillus K-17에서 유래된 것임이 확인되었다.

  • For the purpose of a flexible coded video transmission over a heterogeneous network, we propose a new packetization method for coded video data. The proposed method achieves small degradation of coded picture quality in case of packet discard at the network node and does not require heavy processing load for bitrate control operation. Computer simulation results show that the bitrate reduction from 384 kb/s to 192 kb/s does not cause severe degradation in picture quality.

  • “앞으로 KBS를 주목한다. 그러나 인터넷매체의 영향력도 더욱 커질 것이다.” 지난 5월 미디어분야 전문저널인‘미디어오늘’은 언론계 종사자, 전문가들을 대상으로‘향후 사회 전반에 가장 큰 영향을 발휘할 것으로 여겨지는 언론매체’에 대한 전망조사를 실시했다. 이 조사에서 KBS가 38표를 얻어 향후 영향력이 가장 높아질 것으로 기대됐으나 정작 눈길을 끈 것은 인터넷매체의 도약이었다. 오마이뉴스가 17표로 2위를 차지했으며 지난 3월 출범 1주년을 넘긴 미디어다음이 4위(9표)에 올랐다. 이어 프레시안이 5위(8표)였고, 자체 취재망이 없는 네이버도 10위(4표)에 들어서는 등 10위안에 인터넷매체가 4개나 포함된 것이다.
