The Impact of Job Stress and Job Satisfaction on Workforce Productivity in an Iranian Petrochemical Industry

  • Background: Job stress and job satisfaction are important factors affecting workforce productivity. This study was carried out to investigate the job stress, job satisfaction, and workforce productivity levels, to examine the effects of job stress and job satisfaction on workforce productivity, and to identify factors associated with productivity decrement among employees of an Iranian petrochemical industry. Methods: In this study, 125 randomly selected employees of an Iranian petrochemical company participated. The data were collected using the demographic questionnaire, Osipow occupational stress questionnaire to investigate the level of job stress, Job Descriptive Index to examine job satisfaction, and Hersey and Goldsmith questionnaire to investigate productivity in the study population. Results: The levels of employees' perceived job stress and job satisfaction were moderate-high and moderate, respectively. Also, their productivity was evaluated as moderate. Although the relationship between job stress and productivity indices was not statistically significant, the positive correlation between job satisfaction and productivity indices was statistically significant. The regression modeling demonstrated that productivity was significantly associated with shift schedule, the second and the third dimensions of job stress (role insufficiency and role ambiguity), and the second dimension of job satisfaction (supervision). Conclusion: Corrective measures are necessary to improve the shift work system. "Role insufficiency" and "role ambiguity" should be improved and supervisor support must be increased to reduce job stress and increase job satisfaction and productivity.

치과기공사의 업무실태에 따른 생산성 분석 연구 (An Analysis of Productivity according to the Actual Conditions of Dental Laboratory Technician)

  • The factors which impact on the productivity of medical organization are technique, manager, raw materials, management style, manpower structure, job construction, and so on. Human resources is the most important factor among them, but the productivity of serice organization can not be measured easily. The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of laboratory status, the degree of job cognition, and stress on the productivity of dantal prosthetic products, and to fine out the factors which impact on the productivity. The results were as follows: 1. The job characteristice of crown bridge laboratory part and porcelain laboratory part similar to each other. Also partial denture laboratory part and complete denture laboratory part were similar to each other. But that of orthodontic laboratory part was different from other. 2. the degree of job cognition made significant difference statisfically according to job characteristics of each dental laboratorise. 3. The correlation coefficient between job cognition of dental laboratory technician and workshop environment was.23, but the correlation between job cognition job stress appeared reversely, its coefficient was-.17. 4. The productivity of technician engaged in dental laboratory was much heigher than that of technician engaged in dental clinical laboratory room, and each were different in the degree of job cognition. 5. the most important factors which impact one the performance productivity of dental laboratory technician were the fact whether he married or not and his status.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between household productivity and market productivity of the married men in their early adulthood. Proxy variables of the household productivity were housework time, family cohesion·adaptability and family economic resource. Also proxy variables of the market productivity were job performance, job satisfaction and wage. The main result were as follows: First, men's housework time is insignificantly related to men's job performance, job satisfaction, and wage. But men's housework time is reduced as men's wage. Second, family cohesion·adaptability is significantly and positively related to the married men's job performance. The married men's job performance is significantly and positively related to the family cohesion·adaptability.

미용종사자의 업무가치감이 직무만족을 매개로 서비스 생산성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Work Value of Beauty Industry Workers on Service Productivity Through Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 미용종사자의 업무가치감이 직무만족을 매개로 서비스 생산성에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석한 연구이다. 연구결과 서비스 생산성에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실시한 결과는 업무가치감이 높고, 직무만족이 높을수록 서비스생산성이 높아짐을 알 수 있다. 또한 가치충족인식, 내재적만족, 업무가치인식, 자기가치인식, 외재적 만족이 높을수록 서비스생산성이 높아짐을 알 수 있었다. 또한 미용종사자의 업무가치감이 직무만족을 매개로 서비스향상에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 |Z|=15.057로 Z값이 1.96보다 큰 값을 보여 sobel test에서도 직무만족의 매개효과는 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 토대로 미용종사들이 스스로 자신의 업무가 의미있고, 가치 있으면 보람되다고 인지할 수 있도록 내적동기를 상승시키고 일 자체에서 오는 만족감, 내재적 직무만족을 향상시킴으로서 서비스 생산성을 극대화 시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

스마트워크 환경에서 직무만족에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Job Satisfaction in the Smart Work Environment)

  • 최근 스마트워크를 도입했던 선도 기업들이 스마트워크를 축소하거나 폐지하는 사례가 나타나고 있다. 스마트워크는 직무만족에 긍정적으로 작용하며, 직무만족은 생산성의 향상을 가져올 것이라는 기존 연구들의 예측에 대한 의구심이 제기되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 스마트워크와 직무만족 및 생산성 간의 관계를 재검토하고자 한다. 이를 위해 한국과학기술정보센터의 NDSL 데이터베이스를 기반으로 스마트워크와 관련된 8건의 문헌을 선정하여 체계적으로 분석하였다. 선행 연구들에서는 스마트워크는 직무만족에, 직무만족은 생산성 향상에 긍정적인 영향을 미치고 있음을 실증하고 있었다. 하지만 기존 연구에서 스마트워크가 직무만족을 가져다준다는 실증이나 직무만족 개념에 대한 정의와 측정 등에서 문제의 가능성이 있음을 발견하였다. 이와 관련하여 본 연구는 스마트워크와 직무만족, 그리고 삶의 만족과 직무만족에 대해 심층적으로 논의하고, 향후 연구 방향을 제시하였다.

  • The health care markets are rapidly expanded due to population aging, increasing incomes, strengthening assurance of health insurance and so on, and the competition in the markets is getting serious. In the industry, hospitals have played more important role than any others, where doctors, nurses, medical technicians, administrative staff, etc cooperatively works hard. Among them, nurses capture 40 percents of specialized hospital workers and their role for patients as customers is essential. Therefore, it could be one of the most important keys to increase the productivity and wellbeing of nurses with respect to enhancing efficiency and competitiveness of operating hospitals. In this paper the impact of nurses' job satisfaction, job stress, burnout, and organizational citizenship behavior on their productivity is studied. The subjects were 576 nurses in 20 different hospitals in Seoul, Kyounggi, etc. We held hypotheses and statistically tested and analysed them, using SPSS 20.0 software. Thus, we found various significant results(p<0.05), and they will give useful suggestions for managing nurse manpower and enhancing their productivity.

간호사의 직무이행도, 업무만족도 및 생산성에 대한 예측인자 (Predictors of Job Performance, Work Satisfaction, and Productivity among Korean Hospital Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the levels of burnout experienced by Korean hospital nurses (N=198), and to identify predictors of their nursing outcomes such as job performance, work satisfaction, and productivity. Method: Hierarchical multiple regression was used to identify predictors of each nursing outcomes. Included predictors were nurses' general characteristics, work- related characteristics (role stress and perceived control), and burnout. Results: Korean nurses experienced higher levels of burnout compared to the cutoffs suggested by Maslach and Jackson (1986) and to those in the USA. For each nursing outcome, predictor variables explained 39% of the variance in role performance, 30% of the variance in work satisfaction, and 38% of variance in productivity. Higher personal accomplishment, lower role ambiguity, being staff nurses, and lower emotional exhaustion were related to higher job performance, and higher productivity. Lower role conflict and role ambiguity were also related to higher work satisfaction. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, managemental interventions for nurses to reduce their burnout experience are needed. Further study in this area is warranted.

충남 서부지역 근로자의 현장훈련 교육이 생산성 향상에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Influence of Workers' Training on the Improvement of Productivity in Workers in Western Chungcheongnam-do)

  • 본 연구는 충남 서부지역 근로자의 현장훈련교육이 생산성 향상에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 한국폴리텍대학 교육 및 노동부 지원 현장교육과정을 수료한 충남 서부지역 근로자를 대상으로 설문지 총 76부를 분석하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 근로자의 현장훈련교육이 생산성 향상에는 현장훈련교육을 받게 된 동기가 높을수록 교육만족도가 향상되는 것으로 나타났으나 직무생산성에는 유의한 영향이 미치지 못했다. 둘째, 훈련경험이 직무생산성과의 상관관계는 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치지 못한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 직급에 따른 생산성 향상에 미치는 영향으로는 임시직이 평사원(대리급)보다 교육만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났고, 직무생산성은 중간관리자(과.차장급)보다 관리자(부장급)이상이 가장 높게 분석되었다. ANOVA 분석 결과에서는 근무년수, 경력, 직급에 따라 교육만족도, 직무만족도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 본 연구는 충남 서부지역 근로자의 현장교육훈련이 생산성 향상에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써 교육만족도, 직무생산성 향상에 대한 근로자 개인의 훈련경험 및 훈련동기에 대한 특성 요인의 중요도를 파악하고 근로자의 개인적 요인의 효과성을 검증한 데 연구의 의의가 있다.
