Objectives; Bioassay-directed fractionation of the dried roots of Salvia miltiorrhiza led to the isolation of abietane tanshinones, crptotanshinone and dihydrotanshinone. Methods: Their structures were elucidated using 1H-and 13C-NMR, UV, IR and mass spectral analysis. Result and Conclusions : These compounds exhibited a moderate antimicrobial activities against Staphylococcus epidemidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus pyogene. Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans, Escherichia coil, Enterbacter cloacae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Citrobacter freundii, and Samonella typhimurium.

Human chorionic gonadotropin hormone(H.C.G.) is secreted from the villus tissues of the placenta and excreted in lange amount into the urine. Its isolation is chiefly made from the urine of a pregnant woman. Recently, Matsushima attempted isolation of H.C.G. directly from the placenta itself. In order to prepare H.C.G. from human placenta, general method of extractiag and purifying proteins was applied. Its way was as follow: Crude H.C.G. was extracted from placenta with pH 9.0 and pH 5.0 aqua ammonia, and purified with pH 8.0 ammonia and 50% ethanol at pH 4.8. The purified H.C.G. showed two moving bands on the anode by paper electrophoresis. On the other hand, the H.C.G. from pregnancy urine (Standard. Pharm. Co.) showed same two bands but their moving ratio were different. The purified H.C.G. showed gonadotropin effect when it was injected young fomale rats 40r/cc per day for 5 days and weighted the increased ovary weight.

For the purpose of isolation and screening of tyrosinase inhibitory activity from edible mushrooms, Pleurotus ostreatus, Auricularia auricula-Judae, Umbilicaria esculenta, Agaricus bisporus, Flammuline velutipes, Lentinus edodes, Ganoderma lucidum, and Coriouls versicolor were examined by tracing inhibitory activities against tyrosinase, utilizing L-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA) as a substrate. Among the eight edible mushrooms tested, Umbilicaria esculenta showed potent enzyme inhibitory activities above 7804% against tyrosinase in ethylacetate (EtOAc) extracts. Ganoderma lucidum and Agaricus bisporus showed inhibitory activities of 67.3% and 51.5% in water extracts. EtOAc extracts of Umbilicaria esculenta was fractionated from silicagel column chromatography and one fraction showed the most inhibitory activity of 60.9%. The three bands (Rf=0.38, 0.27, 0.19) were isolated from preparative TLC of the fraction for purification and identified as mixtures of orsellinate, methyl orsellinate, methyl lecanorate, and methyl gyrophorate by high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultravisible spectrophotometer (UV), mass spectrophotometer (Mass), nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer (NMR).

This study examines the difference of airborne sound isolation between laboratory and field test. The airborne sound isolation between adjacent dwellings in multi-family buildings is often much less than would be expected from the rated sound reduction index of the nominally-separating wall, due to structure-borne transmission of vibration at the junctions of wall. A variety of construction modifications to control such transmission have also been evaluated. This study presents a factor of the difference for flanking involving joint of wall, and shows the effect of some practical modifications that control the key flanking paths

This study is the first step for the grasp of transfer path to the vibration generated from the automotive engine and consideration of counterplan for optimal design and low vibration, low noise of the exhaust system. In this study, by applying the theory of modal analysis and experiment, vibrational reduction effect is evaluated according to the attachment of flexible coupling to the exhaust system. And data for the design is suggested to improve the characteristics of vibration. The vibration isolation and damping characteristics are improved due to the attachment of flexible coupling to the exhaust system. As a result, it is identified that flexible coupling which has good flexibility is more effective for the improvement of vibrational characteristics. By the estimation of modeshape of vibration, the location of optimal damping hanger is determined in the viewpoint of vibration isolation. Also it is confirmed that the characteristics of vibration is improved due to the attachment of damping hanger.

This paper describes the isolation of isoguanosine from Croton tiglium L. and its cytotoxic effect anginst several tumor cell lines in culture and newly reports that isoguanosine has an antitumor activity against implanted S-180 ascitic turmor mice. Isoguanosine is effective at the dose of $24mg/kg/day{\times}5$, with T/C value of 168%. Isoguanosine inhibits the gorwth of S-180 and Ehrich solid tumor in mice at the optimal doses of $96\; mg/kg/day{\times}12$ and $48\;mg/kg/day{\times}12$, with 1-T/C values of 65% and 60% respecively.

The effect of the birefringence existing in the Faraday rotator on the isolation and transmission properties of the isolator was investigated. To maintain isolation of 50dB, both the deviation of the transmission angle between input and output polarizers and the deviation of the Faraday ratation angle are permitted to .+-.0.18.deg. for birefringenceless isolator and to .+-.0.09.deg. for birefringent isolator. This means that the isolator possessing linear birefringence of 0.5.deg. requires 505 more accurage adjustment than that of no birefringence. We also simulated the characteristics of wavelength dependence for both the virefringent isolator and the birefringencelless isolator. It is also found that formward transmission loss doesn't varing much with small birefringence.

rectangular open or in-filled trenches(concrete and rubber) are often used to reduce the ground vibrations caused by propagating surface(Rayleigh) waves. This paper presents the experimental data for estimating the vibration screening effectiveness of open or in-filled trenches Field dynamic tests using the exciter which can generate the 100kN vertical cyclic load in the range of 100-250 Hz were performed. One hundred and twenty accelerometers to measure the ground response are used in 6 radial direction. To compare the effectiveness of the vibration isolation the contours of the amplitude ratio with the dimensionless parameters dividing by Rayleight wave lengths were presented.

For two-and three-dimensional problems, the vibration isolation effect of barriers in the travel path of waves has been studied using a boundary element method in the frequency domain. The soil is modelled as a half-space or a layered medium. The results indicate that the effectiveness of a wave barrier is strongly dependent on its location and depth with respect to the vibration source and that the optimum values of these two parameters are sensitive to vibration frequencies.

Two viruses were isolated from kidney and spleen tissues of goldfish(Carasius auratus) and the ovarian fluid of chum salmon(Oncorhynchus keta). Both viruses replicated and produced cytopathic effect in EPC, CHSE-214, and CHH-1 cell lines at $15^{\circ}C$. The isolates were resistant to pH 3 and choloroform. Antiserum to infections pancreatic necrosis virus(IPNV) serotype VR 299 neutralized the infectivity of both of the isolates. Electron microscopy showed that the particles had typical IPNV particle morphology with average diameters of 55nm, This paper describes the first isolation of viruses infecting cultured fish in Korea.
