  • A HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) technique for an IR guided weapon is proposed. The IR HILS facility functions as a testing unit for a missile guidance and control system to evaluate target acquisition, tracking, and countermeasure performance. The configuration of IR HILS facility, modeling technique of an IR environment including target, background and countermeasure, and test and evaluation procedure are included.

  • Background: Cell growth is a balance between cell proliferation and cell death. Insulin-like growth factor-I(IGF-I), which binds IGF-I receptor(IGF-IR), mediates cellular proliferation as a potent mitogen. IGF binding protein-3(IGFBP-3) as a circulating major IGFBP can inhibit or enhance the effects of IGF-I on cellular growth by binding IGFs. Methods: We investigated the expressions of mRNA of IGF-I and IGF-IR by northern blot and phosphorylation of IGF-IR with the treatment of IGF-I by western blot in 3T3 fibroblast cells. The cellular proliferations of 3T3 cells with the treatments of IGF-I were evaluated using $^3H$-thymidine incorporation and MTT assay. Also to observe the effect of IGFBP-3 on cellular proliferation, 3T3 cells were treated with anti-IGFBP-3 and ${\alpha}IR_3$(monoclonal antibody to IGF-IR) alone or in combination. Results: Our results demonstrated that 3T3 cells showed mRNA expressions of IGF-I and IGF-IR and the IGF-I increased phosphorylation of IGF-IR. The treatments of 3T3 cells with IGF-I increased cellular proliferation in 5 % and 1 % seruma-containing media, not in serum-free media. The addition of anti-IGFBP-3 to neutralize IGFBP-3 showed 2-fold increase of cellular proliferation, and also co-incubation of anti-IGFBP-3 and ${\alpha}IR_3$ together showed similar increase of cellular proliferation in 3T3 cells. Interestingly, when the cells were pretreated with ${\alpha}IR_3$ for 4 hr, prior to the simultaneous addition of ${\alpha}IR_3$ and anti-IGFBP-3, anti-IGFBP-3-mediated cellular proliferation was decreased to control level. All of these results suggest that free IGF-I released from IGF-I/IGFBP-3 complex would be involved in the cellular proliferation. Conclusion: IGF-I is a mitogen through the activation of IGF-IR in 3T3 cells, and IGFBP-3 could be a potent inhibitor for IGF-I action by binding IGF-I.

Comparative Analysis of Forage Characteristics in Six Medium Maturing of Italian Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) Varieties in Korea (국내 육성 이탈리안 라이그라스 중생종 6 품종의 품종특성 평가)

  • This study was conducted in Cheonan, the middle region of South Korea, to evaluate the forage characteristics of six medium maturing Italian ryegrass varieties: 'Kowinmaster', 'IR 601', 'IR 602', 'IR 603', 'IR 604' and 'IR 605'. In growth characteristics, 'Kowinmaster' exhibited the earliest heading date on April 30, while 'IR 601' exhibited the latest on May 17. 'IR 601' exhibited the highest lodging resistance, and all varieties demonstrated excellent disease resistance, waterlogging tolerance, and cold tolerance. 'IR 603', 'IR 604', and 'IR 605' demonstrated above-average plant length, with 'IR 604' reaching the longest at 114.8 cm. In productivity, 'IR 602' and 'IR 605' produced the highest total dry matter yield, each exceeding 12,800 kg/ha. Regarding feed values, 'Kowinmaster' recorded the highest RFV and TDN at 119.18 and 66.07%, respectively, with 'IR 605' exhibiting the second highest. 'IR 604' and 'IR 601' demonstrated crude protein concentrations over 9%, with 'IR 604' exhibiting the highest at 9.74%. Analysis of monosaccharide content in Italian ryegrass revealed that 'IR 605' exhibited the highest glucose and fructose content at 23.35 g/kg and 50.70 g/kg, respectively. In summary, 'IR 602' exhibited the highest productivity, 'Kowinmaster' recorded the highest feed value, and 'IR 605' exhibited the highest glucose and fructose content. Therefore, 'IR 605' is considered the most outstanding variety due to its superior productivity, second highest feed value, and significant monosaccharide content.

Change of sugar and starch content in unripened grain of Jinheung and IR667 rice during ripening (진흥(振興)과 IR667벼의 미등숙립중(未登熟粒中) 당(糖) 및 전분(澱粉)의 시기별(時期別) 변화(變化))

  • The weekly change of sugar and starch content in unfilled grain of Jinheung (temperate rice var.) and IR667-Suweon 214 (tropical rice var.) and of filled grain ratio (less than specific gravity 1.06 for Jinheung and 1.03 for IR667), filled grain weight and unfilled grain weight from flowering and the relationship among them were as fallows. 1. Total sugar content in unfilled grain was twice in Jinheung than in IR667 and starch content was higher (about 2.5 to 3.5%) in Jinheung but starch/sugar ratio was greater in IR667. Thus IR667 that was classified as high sugar type in leaf sheath and internode appears to be high starch type in sink (grain). 2. Under the favorable condition the weight of unfilled grain reached to minimum value and followed by maximum filled grain ratio and lastly by maximum weight of filled grains per ear. 3. Sugar and starch content gradually increased and then decreased during ripening and the maximum values reached prior to maximum filled grain ratio (6 weeks). Sugar content reached to maximum much earlier than starch content did and increased again from 8 weeks later. 4. Starch/sugar ratio reached to maximum value earlier than maximum starch content and earlier in IR667 than in Jinheung. 5. Maximum starch content of unfilled grain in Jinheung was 51.1%.

  • In the past, making IR photography needed somewhat complicated process, so its application fields were limited. However, it has become easy to make IR photography with advanced digital technology, so it is expected that the fields of IR photography and existing limit due to difficult making process will be expanded. Therefore, in this study, it is decided that the need of IR standard chart which allows us to manage exposure and tone of IR photography for scientific purpose will increase. Two methods were used to make IR standard chart. First method is to use aluminum. When aluminum has oxide coating through anodic oxidation, it has high durability, corrosion resistance and heat resistance. Also, IR reflectance of aluminum can be controlled in some degree depending on the thickness of oxide coating. Second method is to use pigments. Yellow 10P150 pigment is used for the brightest patch. This pigment is appropriate in this study due to high heat resistance and IR reflectance. Carbon black is used for the darkest patch. Carbon black absorbs much IR, and its color is not faded by any source of light. IR reflectance is adjusted elaborately by mixing two pigments. Finally, 6 patches are selected with consideration for actual IR reflectance of patches. As a result, IR reflectance of random subjects can be known approximately and IR photographs can have appropriate contrast with the IR standard chart.

Studies on Ripening Physiology of Rice Plant -II Analysis of Ripening Structure at Tiller Level in Jinheung and IR667 (수도(水稻)의 등숙생리(登熟生理)에 관(關)한 연구 -II 진흥(振興)과 IR667의 경별(莖別) 등숙분석(登熟分析))

  • The proposed hypothesis that the effects of climatic factors during ripening period (from 10 days before heading to 30 days after heading) on ripened grain ratio are equal on the level of canopy and on the level of tiller in that canopy of rice plant appeared to be agreeable. The followings were found according to the analysis of ripening structure at tiller level. 1. The optimum ripening temperature (mean air temperature during ripening period) was $21^{\circ}C$ for Jinheung and $22^{\circ}C$ for IR667-Suwon 214. 2. The minimum mean solar radiation ($cal\;cm^{-2}\;day^{-1}$) of ripening period was not greater than 240 for Jinheung and greater than 270 for IR 667-Suwon 214. 3. The ripened grain ratio was not different from main culm to first tillers of second order of main culm in Jinheung but greatly decreased from 4th tiller of first order of main culm in IR667 and the number of grain per main culm was greater in IR667 than in Jinheung indicating that yield of IR667 could be increased by increasing the number of main culm. 4. The last heading date insuring optimum ripening period appeared to be 25th in August for Jinheung and 30th in August for IR667 in Suweon.

  • IR(Investor Relation) is an active management activity to provide well balanced information to investors which can reduce asymmetry of information between investors and management. This activity could contribute to the long-term development of corporation with increased mutual trust between investors and management. Consequently, in these days, ill is widely recognized as an effective measure of securing corporate transparency, maximization corporate value, and stock-holder oriented management. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of corporate IR activity on investment behavior as well as stock price. It is assumed that if asymmetry of information between investors and management is cured by active ill activity from a corporation, with more transparent and reliable information of the firm at hand investors would more actively involved in trading. Statistically speaking, I assumed that the more information provided by ill activities, the higher value of a corporation at the stock trading.

Quantitative Analysis of 3D-CRT Radiotherapy Planning Factors with or without IR in Patients with High Density Artifacts (고밀도 인공물 환자에서 반복적 재구성 사용 유무에 따른 3차원 입체조형 방사선 치료 계획 인자의 정량분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to assess the usefulness of IR to compensate for uncertainties in inserting high density artificial objects in radiation treatment planning in the 3D-CRT treatment technique. CT images of the subjects with phantom and titanium inserted were obtained from images without IR and images with IR, and the dose evaluation factors HI, MU and volume evaluation factors Volume and PCI were compared. The results of the stainless steel and titanium phantom experiments showed that the volume of high density artificial material was reduced by 4.850% and 11.456% respectively when applying IR. MU decreased 0.924% and 1.181%. HI was down 0.106% and 0.272%. PCI decreased 0.358% and 0.867%. When IR was applied to CT images of subjects with vertebroplasty, Femur alignment pin and wrist alignment pin, the volume of artifacts decreased by 47.76%, 23.841%, and 49.339%. MU also decreased 0.924%, 0.294% and 1.675%, while HI decreased 1.232%, 0.412% and 1.695%. PCI decreases 4.022%, 0.512%, and 13.472%. In conclusion, When IR was applied to 3D-CRT treatment plan, both dose and volume in phantom and subject case with high density artificial insert were reduced.

Protein Patterns of Rice(Oryza sativa L.) Cultivars as Affected by Herbicide Thiobencarb (제초제 Thiobencarb 처리에 의한 수도품종간 단백질 유형의 변화)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the susceptibility of rice(Oryza sativa L.) cultivars to herbicide thiobencarb through the determination of protein patterns using SDS-PAGE. In both greenhouse and laboratory screening tests, IR 10198-66-2 and IR 9660-50-3-1 showed relatively tolerant response to thiobencarb, while IR 22, IR 31802-48-2-2-2 and IR 20656-R-R-R-6-1 were susceptible to it. The total protein content of susceptible cultivars markedly decreased as the thiobencarb concentrations increased, but tolerant cultivars such as IR 10198-66-2 and IR 9660-50-3-1 showed very slight changes suggesting that protein synthesis of susceptible cultivars may be inhibited by thiobencarb. The protein profiles of the tolerant cultivars were not much affected by thiobencarb treatment. However, the protein spots with molecular weights of 14.4 kD and 55 kD in the susceptible cultivar of IR 22 disappeared with the treatment of 3 ppm thiobencarb, indicating that differential susceptibilities of rice cultivars against thiobencarb can be attributed to their difference in protein metabolism affected by thiobencarb.

Unsupervised Change Detection for Very High-spatial Resolution Satellite Imagery by Using Object-based IR-MAD Algorithm (객체 기반의 IR-MAD 기법을 활용한 고해상도 위성영상의 무감독 변화탐지)

  • The change detection algorithms, based on remotely sensed satellite imagery, can be applied to various applications, such as the hazard/disaster analysis and the land monitoring. However, unchanged areas sometimes detected as the changed areas due to various errors in relief displacements and noise pixels, included in the original multi-temporal dataset at the application of unsupervised change detection algorithm. In this research, the object-based changed detection for the high-spatial resolution satellite images is applied by using the IR-MAD (Iteratively Reweighted- Multivariate Alteration Detection), which is one of those representative change detection algorithms. In additionally, we tried to increase the accuracy of change detection results with using the additional information, based on the cross-sharpening method. In the experiment, we used the KOMPSAT-2 satellite sensor, and resulted in the object-based IR-MAD algorithm, representing higher changed detection accuracy than that by the pixel-based IR-MAD. Also, the object-based IR-MAD, focused on cross-sharpened images, increased in accuracy of changed detection, compared to the original object-based IR-MAD. Through these experiments, we could conclude that the land monitoring and the change detection with the high-spatial-resolution satellite imagery can be accomplished efficiency by using the object-based IR-MAD algorithm.
