Experimental and numerical investigations of the off·design performance of a simple channel-wedge diffuser in a small centrifugal compressor are presented. Surge and choke conditions as well as design point are considered using somewhat limited range of experimental data and also supplementary 3D CFD results. Some critical meanline design parameters' behavior is investigated numerically, to render the basis for improved modelings in the meanline performance prediction.

The most important aim of mathematics education is to promote mathematical thinking. In the Hong Kong primary school, mathematical thinking is usually conducted through the use of formula and working on "application problem" or "word problems". However, there are many other ways that can promote mathematical thinking, and investigation on mathematical structure by using counting is one important source for promoting mathematical thinking for primary school children, as every children can count and hence a well designed question that can be solved by counting can enable children of different abilities to work together and obtain different results.

Most of all the mechanical devices are becoming more high-speed and high-power as well as their used condition being more polluted. So, it is necessary for these devices to equip cooling system to overcome that kind of severe using condition. In this study, corrosion test was carried out in distilled and tap water for the investigation on the corrosion characteristics of Al-alloy that is using as material for radiator.

It is well known that a suspension bridge may display certain oscillations under external aerodynamic forces. Under the action of a strong wind, in particular, a narrow and very flexible suspension bridge can undergo dangerous oscillations. So it would be very contributive to determine under what conditions a similar situation cannot occur, and find out safe parameters of the bridge construction. In this paper, we investigate relations between the multiplicity of solutions and nonlinear terms in this suspension bridge equation using critical point theorem and linking theorem.

The authors have proposed methods (lead crowning and profile modification) for modifying the geometry of spur gears and investigated the contact pattern as well as the transmission errors to recommend the appropriate amount of modification. Based on the investigation, dynamic load of the modified spur gear drive has been calculated, which is helpful to predict the life of the designed gear drive. Computer programs for simulation of meshing, contact and dynamics of the modified spur gears have been developed. The developed theory is illustrated with numerical examples.

Protogyny is known in 14 families of fishes, 11 of which inhabit coral reef areas. The wrasses (Labridae) comprise a large and well-known family of coral reef fishes that exhibit sequential hermaphroditism. The purpose of the present investigation was to examine the allomeoic growth patterns of several morphometric characteristics, including those used commonly to distinguish sexes of cocktail wrasse, pteragogus aurigarius (Richardson) and to assess their effectiveness in discriminating between males and females. It is well known that lactobacillus products are a living bacterial preparation, which acts as the antibacterial and antidiarrhea agents. Beause of the specificity as the living bacterial preparation, this preparation should be remarkably considered to the stabilities in its manufacturing process and storage more than any others. In this report, it has been considered about its stabilities as the following items. 1) Selection of strains. 2) Control of seed strains. 3) Cultivation and its conditions. 4) Dry of microorganisms. 5) Manufacture of products. 6) Products storage. 7) Concerning to administration.

Influence of deer horn on serum cholesterol level as well as growth rate of experimental cholesterol-fed rabbit were observed. The cholesterol level rose progressively in all cholesterol-fed rabbit and only after 17th day of experiment, cholesterol-level in animal treated with deer horn significantly increased at much lower rate than control group. Above results suggested that deer horn might decrease the abnormally elevated serum cholesterol.

Silicon-containing ${\pi}$-conjugated compounds, especially silacyclopentadienes (siloles), have emerged as a new class of electroactive materials with good electron transport properties in OLEDs. 9,9'-spiro-9-silabifluorene compound as well as its starting material 2,2'-dibromobiphenyl have been synthesized with higher yields. Spirosilabifluorene is expected to be an efficient host material for the blue-light emitting diodes. 9,9'-spiro-9-silabifluorene, 1,1-dichloro-1-silafluorene, and 1,1-dimethyl-1-silafluorene were characterized by $^1H$-NMR, UV/Vis and photoluminescence spectroscopy.
