  • In this study, we focus on identifying the determinants of improving technology collaboration performance between buyer and supplier and the impact of the determinants on new product development performance. We adopted trust, control and information sharing as the determinants of technology collaboration and the frequency of new product introduction and ratio of new product on revenue as dependent variables. We conducted hierarchical regression and mediation analysis using the data collected from 600 Korean manufacturing firms by Korean Productivity Association and Ministry of Trade and Industry in 2012. The empirical findings indicate that trust, control and information sharing are positively associated with technology collaboration performance and the degree of technology collaboration is also positively associated with both new product development performance. In addition, new product development performance is not only affected by technology collaboration but also mediated by trust. This result implies that developing social capital, trust with partner play a important role in leading to better performance by open innovation.

  • Industrial innovation in Britain, during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, stimulated the introduction of the factory system and the migration of people from rural agricultural communities to urban industrial societies. The factory system brought elevated levels of economic growth to the purveyors of capitalism, but forced people to migrate into cities where working conditions in factories were, in general, harsh and brutal, and living conditions were cramped, overcrowded and unsanitary. Industrial developments, known collectively as the 'Industrial Revolution', were driven initially by the harnessing of water and steam power, and the widespread construction of rail, shipping and road networks. Parallel with these changes, came the development of purchasing 'middle class', consumers. Various technological ripples (or waves of innovative activity) continued (worldwide) up to the early-twenty-first century. Of recent note are innovations in digital technology, with associated developments, for example, in artificial intelligence, robotics, 3-D printing, materials technology, computing, energy storage, nano-technology, data storage, biotechnology, 'smart textiles' and the introduction of what has become known as 'e-commerce'. This paper identifies the more important early technological innovations, their influence on textile manufacture, distribution and consumption, and the changed role of the designer and craftsperson over the course of these technological ripples. The implications of non-ethical production, globalisation and so-called 'fast fashion' and non-sustainability of manufacture are examined, and the potential benefits and opportunities offered by new and developing forms of social media are considered. The message is that hand-crafted products are ethical, sustainable and durable.

  • Due to changes in the agricultural market environment and both overseas and domestic farming conditions, uncertainties in agricultural production and management are becoming greater. Hence, there is a stronger need for farmers to choose crops in the optimal condition. This research aims to introduce the result and process of developing a decision support system for selecting crops, aimed to assist farmers in selecting the optimal crops most suitable in the given situation. There are basically three main factors to consider in the decision-making process for farmers when selecting a crop to introduce to their lands. First of all, one must consider how much profit crop A will produce when it is cultivated. Secondly, one must consider which crop to cultivate in order to earn a certain amount of profit. Thirdly, one must consider what is the best way to maximize Farm A's business profit. For instance, a farm may have land as its resource, and one must research which location, type of crop, level of technology, and so forth, to maximize profit. This research creates a database of the profitability of a total of 180 crop types by analyzing Rural Development Administration's survey of agricultural products income of 115 crop types, small land profitability index survey of 53 crop types, and Statistics Korea's survey of production costs of 12 crop types. Furthermore, this research presents the result and developmental process of a web-based crop introduction decision support system that provides overseas cases of new crop introduction support programs, as well as databases of outstanding business success cases of each crop type researched by agricultural institutions.

  • The mathematical modelling of screw compressor processes and its implementation in their design began about 30 years ago with the publication of several pioneering papers on this topic, mainly at Purdue Compressor Conferences. This led to the gradual introduction of computer aided design, which, in turn, resulted in huge improvements in these machines, especially in oil-flooded air compressors, where the market is very competitive. A review of progress in such methods is presented in this paper together with their application in successful compressor designs. As a result of their introduction, even small details are now considered significant in efforts to improve performance and reduce costs. Despite this, there are still possibilities to introduce new methods and procedures for improved rotor profiles, design optimisation for each specified duty and specialized compressor design, all of which can lead to a better product and new areas of application. A review of methods and procedures which lead to modern screw compressor practice is presented in this paper. This paper is intended to give a cross section through activities being done in mathematical modelling of screw compressor process through last five decades. It is expected to serve as a basis for further contributions in the area and as a challenge to the forthcoming generations of scientists and engineers to concentrate their efforts in finding future and more extended approaches and submit their contributions.

  • Research on the introduction aspect of research has focused on the direction, performance expectations, costs, regulations, and risks of RPA introduction. Future research in terms of introduction has shown that in addition to organizational research, technical and environmental research needs to be activated. The application case studies have been conducted on actual entities, application tasks and application occupations. Future research on application case aspects seems to require research on RPA technical post-use performance for actual companies, application tasks, and applied jobs. The study of market analysis aspects has shown that the formation stage of the market and the prediction of future markets. Future research will be possible in connection with AI and the Fourth Industrial Revolution to study how future markets will develop. The acceptance aspect of research can be said to be a relatively poor field of research compared to other subjects. If research on acceptance aspects is further activated in the future, it will contribute to the development of new technology acceptance theory and suggest implications for RPA introduction, RPA application, and RPA market revitalization.
