  • Recently various kinds of Information Technology services are created and the quantities of the data flow are increase rapidly. Not only that, but the data patterns that we deal with also slowly becoming diversity. As a result, the demand of discover the meaningful knowledge/information through the various mining analysis such as linkage analysis, sequencing analysis, classification and prediction, has been steadily increasing. However, solving the business problems using data mining analysis does not always concerning, one of the major causes of these limitations is there are some analyzed data can't accurately reflect the real world phenomenon. For example, although the time gap of purchasing the two products is very short, by using the traditional sequencing analysis, the precedence relationship of the two products is clearly reflected. But in the real world, with the very short time interval, the precedence relationship of the two purchases might not be defined. What was worse, the sequence of the purchase intention and the sequence of the purchase realization of the two products might be mutually be reversed. Therefore, in this study, an expanded sequencing analysis methodology has been proposed in order to reflect this situation. In this proposed methodology, the purchases that being made in a very short time interval among the purchase order which might not important will be notice, and the analysis which included the original sequence and reversed sequence will be used to extend the analysis of the data. Also, to some extent a very short time interval can be defined as the time interval, so an experiment were carried out to determine the varying based on the time interval for the actual data.

  • In this paper, we are focused to develop the simplified speaker verification algorithm without background speaker models, which will be adopted in the portable speaker verification system equipped in portable terminals such as mobile phone and PMP. According to the tolerance interval analysis, the population of someone's speaker model can be represented by a suitable number of selected independent samples of speaker model. So we can make the representative speaker model and threshold under the specified confidence level and coverage. Using proposed algorithm with the number of samples is 40, the experiments show that the false rejection rate is $3.0\%$ and the false acceptance rate $4.3\%$, worth comparing to conventional method's results, $5.4\%\;and\;5.5\%$, respectively. Next step of research will be on the suitable adaptation methods to overcome speech variation problems due to aging effect and operating environments.

  • In this paper, a fifth order extension of Potra's third order iterative method is proposed for solving nonlinear equations. A convergence theorem along with the error bounds is established. The method takes three functions and one derivative evaluations giving its efficiency index equals to 1.495. Some numerical examples are also solved and the results obtained are compared with some other existing fifth order methods. Next, the interval extension of both third and fifth order Potra's method are developed by using the concepts of interval analysis. Convergence analysis of these methods are discussed to establish their third and fifth orders respectively. A number of numerical examples are worked out using INTLAB in order to demonstrate the efficacy of the methods. The results of the proposed methods are compared with the results of the interval Newton method.

  • In the conventional fuzzy system reliability analysis, the reliabilities of the fuzzy systems and the components of fuzzy systems are represented by real values between zero and one, fuzzy numbers, vague sets, interval valued fuzzy sets, etc. This paper propose a method to represent and analyze the reliabilities of the fuzzy systems based on the internal valued vague sets defined in the universe of discourse [0, 1]. In the interval valued vague sets, the upper bounds and the lower bounds of the conventional vague sets are represented as the intervals, therefore it can allow the reliabilities of a fuzzy system to represent and analyze in a more flexible manner.

  • This paper proposed for allotment of group key's rekey interval required from secure multicast environment. New group key distribution occurs in two cases: one is periodical update and the other is permitted or unpermitted withdrawal of group member. In later case, the group controller distributes new group key to member except withdrawal member because it can't predict precisely. In former case, the group member who cheated the group can adjust the rekey interval. Using relation between security level, overhead and cost from rekey interval, this paper suggests effective rekey interval allotment through probable performance analysis in large dynamic group.

  • Using bearing measurement only, target motion state is not directly obtained so that TMA (Target Motion Analysis) is needed for this situation. TMA is a nonlinear estimation technique used in passive SONAR systems. Also it is the one of important techniques for underwater combat management systems. TMA can be divided to two parts: batch estimation and sequential estimation. It is preferable to use sequential estimation for reducing computational load as well as adaptively to target maneuvers, batch estimation is still required to attain target initial state vector for convergence of sequential estimation. Selection of batch time interval which depends on observability is critical in TMA performance. Batch estimation in general utilizes predetermined batch time interval. In this paper, we propose a new method called the BTIS (Batch Time Interval and Initial State Estimation). The proposed BTIS estimates target initial status and determines the batch time interval sequentially by using a bank of GMM-TS (Gaussian Mixture Measurement-Track Splitting) filters. The performance of the proposal method is verified by a Monte Carlo simulation study.

  • Multivariate or clustered failure time data often occur in many medical, epidemiological, and socio-economic studies when survival data are collected from several research centers. If the data are periodically observed as in a longitudinal study, survival times are often subject to various types of interval-censoring, creating multivariate interval-censored data. Then, the event times of interest may be correlated among individuals who come from the same cluster. In this article, we propose a unified linear regression method for analyzing multivariate interval-censored data. We consider a semiparametric multivariate accelerated failure time model as a statistical analysis tool and develop a generalized Buckley-James method to make inferences by imputing interval-censored observations with their conditional mean values. Since the study population consists of several heterogeneous clusters, where the subjects in the same cluster may be related, we propose a generalized estimating equations approach to accommodate potential dependence in clusters. Our simulation results confirm that the proposed estimator is robust to misspecification of working covariance matrix and statistical efficiency can increase when the working covariance structure is close to the truth. The proposed method is applied to the dataset from a diabetic retinopathy study.

  • In this paper, we analyze a time-based update method in location management and calculate the optimal time-interval. The probability that an MT is j rings away from the center cell is obtained by computer programming. And using these values, an exact analysis is made for the time-based location management cost. From the result, when the time-based method is applied to location update, we can get the optimal time-interval which minimizes the location management cost.

  • Interval-valued data, one type of symbolic data, are observed in the form of intervals rather than single values. Each interval-valued observation has an internal variation. Principal component analysis reduces the dimension of data by maximizing the variance of data. Therefore, the principal component analysis of the interval-valued data should account for the variance between observations as well as the variation within the observed intervals. In this paper, three principal component analysis methods for interval-valued data are summarized. In addition, a new method using a truncated normal distribution has been proposed instead of a uniform distribution in the conventional quantile method, because we believe think there is more information near the center point of the interval. Each method is compared using simulations and the relevant data set from the OECD. In the case of the quantile method, we draw a scatter plot of the principal component, and then identify the position and distribution of the quantiles by the arrow line representation method.
