  • The purpose of study developing Development evaluation methods of light environment for indoor of middle school based on 'Biophilia'. This study is mainly based on literary review and survey research. To construct structural questionnaire based on 'Light and Space' of Biophilic Design for well being lighting environmental evaluation. We construct structural questionnaire that have 10 evaluation factors and 60 detail evaluation items to evaluate lighting environment for indoor of middle school based on biophilia theory. To survey students' subjective evaluation, the participant of study has been selected with the total number of 232 middle school students. The data were analyzed using Multiple Regression Analysis by IBM SPSS statistics 21. The result of pearson correlation analysis between satisfaction of indoor light environment and school life satisfaction, satisfaction of the whole indoor light environment was found showing positive relationship with school life satisfaction. The results of light environmental evaluation were factor 3,6,8,9 was lower than others. This study was designed to suggesting an evaluation method of light environment of the school. Biophilia theory said when 10 evaluation factor are in harmony, light environment can be well-being. So, factor 3,6,8,9 that are important elements to increase the satisfaction of lighting environment are consider carefully for the plan of indoor lighting environment.

Thus, many coffee brands strive to serve not only a diverse menu, but also a unique quality of environment. This study aimed to investigate the influence of physical environment on customer satisfaction and loyalty in the coffee shop and evaluate the influential power of the physical environment factors using hierarchical regression analysis. Data was collected from customers of coffee shops in Texas, the U.S. The study found that the coffee shops' physical environment influenced the customer's satisfaction and loyalty. Particularly, the coffee shop's physical environment including ambient and interior design greatly influenced the customers' satisfaction. However, a broad range of physical environment factors such as temperature, aroma, lighting, color, and interior furnishings should be provided to increase the customer loyalty. The results may have a broader application to provide effective managerial and marketing information to Korean coffee entrepreneur brand in the U.S. and beyond.

  • The purpose of this study Is to find out the design guideline for women's hospital focusing on the patient needs. The results of research are as follows: 1) As a basic frame of evaluation model, the quality of service of medical facilities and patients' reaction to the physical environment are fixed as a variable called' satisfaction degree'. This study analyzes the influence on space efficiency evaluation according to the difference of types through basic model (Model I-1,2) as verification model to identify the difference between satisfaction degree of outpatients and that of inpatients. 2) The difference of satisfaction degree about the hospital facilities by space evaluation matrix is according to the types of inpatients and to space importance. 3) The control of importance degree about the interior facilities of the hospital according to the specific character of the hospital is necessary. Maintenance of the status quo, or reduction, or expansion is needed according to the satisfaction degree corresponding to the importance degree. Finally, the model is used to for the planning & design for the future women's hospital.

  • This study aims to design user-oriented children's hospital by examining the user needs, especially the mothers of child inpatients and the nurses. The subjects participated in a questionnaire survey including the user's characteristics, awareness of patient's room, the preference on ward size, demands, satisfaction and hospital environment assessment. The survey was conducted of the mothers of child inpatients and the nurses in A children's hospital, and the data were analyzed by the SPSS WIN 18.0 Version software. A total of 115 copies of the questionnaire were finally analyzed. The results and conclusions are as follows. 1) The mothers' demand on family-centered space and private spaces were higher than the nurses. 2) The mothers preferred 1-bed-room to 4-bed-room due to safety and privacy. 3) The items of hospital environment assessment was categorized into four factors; 'Aesthetics', 'Accessibility', 'Comfort', and 'Lighting'. The most positive factor was 'Aesthetics', whereas 'Comfort' was the negative factor. 4) The mother's satisfaction was lower than the nurse's. The most influential factors on the satisfaction was 'Accessibility'. To improve the satisfaction of the mothers of child inpatients and the nurses, safety, privacy, accessibility should be considered.

  • By taking an ecological approach, The purpose of this thesis was to 1. analyze the existing literary work about design directives for the elderly housing. 2. case study about actual housing conditions of elderly people, 3. grasp the level of satisfaction and level of requirement about housing environment by Korean elderly, 4. by integrating the above three, provide foundational data arranging the appropriate housing design directives pertaining to Korea's actual circumstances. The major findings in this study were surmmarized as follows. (1) From the six literary works, 27 items as Microsystem, 1,249 items as Mesosystem, and 330 items as Exosystem were founded and there was no evidence of directives for Macrosystem. (2) As a result of the case study, there appeared a substantial difference between actual conditions of housing environment for the Korean elderly and the design directives perceived in the literary works. (3) The level of satisfaction and for the Korean elderly housing environment were founded differently in each directives. (4) By ecological approach for the Korean elderly housing environment design directives as follows. In microsystem (13 items) in mesosystem(83 items), in exosystem(24 items), in macrosystem(15 items), 135 items in total were suggested as design directives for Korean Elderly housing environment.

  • The purpose of this article is to offer a guideline for residence planning for Koreans living in the United States. To achieve the goal, this article examines the Korean family's satisfaction rates of interior design and living conditions of houses in American cities, with a case study of families in Columbia, MO. A total of 105 valid samples(126 collected) out of 200 survey questionnaires distributed was acquired and processed with the statistical-aid software SPSS PC+ window version 14.0. The survey was analyzed using frequency, percentages, means, standard deviations, and multiple response analysis. The results are as follow: 1) Most of the Koreans preferred interior design and environment similar to their previous Korean residences. 2) Participants were not satisfied with partial/indirect lightings typical in the United States and desired more bright illuminating lights. 3) Participants kept their habit of taking off shoes indoors while living in the United States, therefore when designing a house for Koreans living in the U.S., designers should take this into account when designing for Korean residents. 4) Among the American interior elements, storage such as walk-in closets and bathroom cabinets were highly demanded by Koreans, thus possibly to be adopted to Korean houses. Researchers expect the results of this study would contribute to supplying comfortable and convenient living environments to those Koreans living in the United States.

The data were analyzed with frequency. percentage. and $X^2$-test using the SAS package. The major findings were as follows: Most subjects were satisfied with their housing environment and had no intention of moving. The subjects were highly satisfied with their residential environment. did not tend to move. This result does not necessarily mean that there is no need for better housing and no need to design elderly housing in Korea. • This study examines visual perception and spatial satisfaction according to lighting conditions. Field measurements and surveys were performed in three rest space of university buildings where various lighting conditions were employed. Results indicate that overall impression of space improved when low color temperature, such as 3,000 K governed overall lighting environment and accent lighting was used for wall surfaces. Lighting conditions that kept uniform illuminance levels using area light sources containing fluorescent lamps with 6,500 K failed to keep favorable spatial satisfaction for space. High color temperature was not recommended for lighting in rest space. Asymmetrical illuminance levels formed by low color temperature such as 3000 K is recommended to keep positive mood and improve spatial satisfaction in rest space. Overall impression of the space was influenced by visual comfort, color temperature, spatial satisfaction and brightness. Spatial satisfaction for space was effectively impacted by psychological comfort, color temperature and overall impression for lighting conditions. Psychological comfort in space was influenced by color temperature, spatial satisfaction and visual annoyance from reflected light.
