Due to rise in a more sophisticated consumer and free distribution of foreign goods domestic department stores have been confronted with the need to change marketing strategy. The VMD strategy has become increasingly important as the means in reaching the contemporary consumer who has been sensitized to a visual style of marketing strategy. The use of VMD organizational elements have enabled us to create basic planning data that more accurately reflect our current marketplace trends,. The positive influence and supporting role of visual merchandiser is needed more than ever and will be an important part of future profit and customer satisfaction regardless of whether the customer is driven from image buying values and product-quality issues.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the varying characteristic factors for residential kitchen remodeling according to contemporary life style. The subjects of this investigation are collected through questionnaire from adult residents who live in Seoul, Korea. The collected cases are analyzed by using Spss-win. By using the vaimax method on the basis of factor analysis, the satisfaction of the actual conditions is under the influence of finished materials & function, sanitary installation, layout, cooling & heating apparatus, day lighting, air conditioning, and safety. The preference of kitchen remodeling Is affected by finished materials, function, environmental equipment, and air conditioning. The Need of kitchen facility is caused by working table, refrigerator, gas range, dish apparatus, and addition function.

The purpose of this study is to Investigate color schemes, degree of its satisfaction, and color implication of office environment. This study is to find the proper current color schemes in offices today, as well as colors that will enhance efficiency and productivity in work for future uses. The study was progressed through visiting offices and survey The collected data were analyzed by using such descriptive statistics as percentage, frequency, mean, and t-test. The result of this study shows that most of offices applied the main color only for ceilings, walls, and floors; and, some of them applied supporting colors in addition to main colors. In general, workers are not satisfied by the color in their work environment. Therefore, careful planning and exploring color schemes of main colors and supporting colors in work environments can be suggested. Also, the study results of color implication in work environment indicates that there is a need to take a careful color planning, especially in relation to the type of work, sex, and the level of education of a worker.

In this study, we surveyed historical housing settlements of Hwangjon in Bonghwa-a clan village in Youngnam district which was formed in the Chosun Dynasty. We observe the relationships among the spatial layout of clan villages, the water flows and the family hierarchies as follows; (1) when a clan village was initially formed, the water flow, which is the phylosophical foundation of Poong Soo, was the most important factor for determining the original location; (2) as villages prosper, the water flow and the family hierarchy still played an important role in determining the following geological locations; (3) in modern age, however, the water flow and the family hierarchy lost the role in detrmining the geological locations; (4) consequently, in present days, each household becomes isolated from the village. Reflecting on these observations, for village to be maintained, we conclude that we need novel practical and cohesive village forming drives that can replace the water flows and the family hierarchy in the past.

This study aimed to examine academic researches about apartment unit plans and consumer's opinions, and then to analyze the corelationship between the two, thus identifying the differences between the reality of housing market and consumers' opinionsl. On the analysis of the apartment unit plans($66m^2{\sim}164m^2$) provided by top 8 construction companies from March 2004 to December 2008. The remarkable change compared to existing apartments is an increase in the number of bays. This displays construction companies are responding to consumer' opinions actively. However, there were spaces which did not or passively reflect consumer's opinions enough. Especially, front side allocation of bedrooms beside master bedroom, kitchen/dining room and L-D-K & LD-K installation of a door between entrance and a living room. These are opinions that companies need to make efforts to reflect on apartment unit plans as much as possible.

The purpose of this study was to diagnose the characteristics of current use of kitchen and scrutinize what to improve for the future kitchen development. To achieve the purpose, the small group wordshop panel was used. Two groups of 5 housewives per each were employed. For each group, there were a total of 3 consecutive meetings including 2 workshops and 1 field survey in each subject's house. The contents dealt with in the panel were as follows. First, actual condition and problems of using kitchen; second , possible solutions of the problems; third, needs for developing future kitchen. The major results were first, consumers require bigger kitchens to accomodate a variety of family activities ; second, kitchen needed to be more open encouraging family interaction and gave organic relationship to adjacent such as living room and utility room; third, due to korean cooking style, poor ventilation along with wet trash disposal was a serious problem. In addition to these. there revealed many problems which need to be improved and valuable ideas for the improvement.

Children usually have an endless curiosity. They sometimes show us some fanciful, various and unpredictable behaviors and they are always in need of enough space to play in, no matter where it might be. Designers have to provide children with a proper space in which they feel free to diffuse their aspirations. Three samples of apartment site in Cheongju city were selected in order to satisfy the purpose of this survey. To figure out the actual use of playground, the extent of preference and satisfaction and the requests for future betterment, this study used questionnaires, photos, interviews and observations. The conclusions of this survey are as follows and it may be expected that the results suggest a kind of guidance for designing playground on apartment sites.

Synectics is one of several techniques used to enhance brainstorming by taking a more active role and introducing metaphor and structure into the process. It is unclear at what level of specificity this should be formulated as a pattern. This thesis reviews recent computational as well as experimental work on analogical reasoning based on synectics. New results regarding information processing of analogical reasoning stages, major computational models and recent attempts to compare these models are reviewed. Computational models are also discussed in the computational as well as cognitive psychology perspectives. Future directions in analogical reasoning research are proposed. The following import is the need to accommodate the typology and normal assessment in the concrete circumstances where actual reasoning and problem solving take place. In order to get to this end, we used computational models by Thagard who take the stand of ‘Computational Philosophy of Science’, which assumes ‘Weak AI’ to explicate what constitute the very pecularity of Analogical Reasoning.

As database become more variable and multimedia, the integration between conventional library based on printed matter and digital library on IT makes it accelerated that the changes in today's information circumstances. Due to more leisure time modern people who get intellectual and interested in variety so they need continuing education, intellectual satisfaction and cultural life. Consequently today's public library expands to become a source of every kind of information, an educational facility and community facility to fulfill the cultural needs. On the assumption above, this study aims at offering database for planning public library that meets the needs for multifunctional library through analyzing space, structure, and character of modern public libraries and chooses 8 cases in Japan provide both primary and additional functions. Quantitative data from blueprints, websites and publications has been collected to analyze the space arrangement corresponding with the functional characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to stand assembly the meaning and function of entry space with analysing their social and cultural characteristic. The entry space is the linkable place between inner space and out space, and that is the transition place to be experienced two opposing characteristic. Till now the entry space has not taken effect as symbol needed to the resident and observer, and that has been a tendency to shrink as the minimal sign of entrance. So thus, it is in need of studying the entry space's specific and characterizing structurally as expanded function. For the purpose, this study define newly the meaning, function and composition of entry space in an apartment building, and try to find how to reinforce a resident identity. This study propose justification that the entry space isn't boxing space minimally but enforcing symbol presented clearness of composition and vital character.
