Optimization Routing Path Design of Hydraulic Hose Using Energy Minimization (Energy Minimization을 이용한 유압 호스의 최적 경로 설계)

  • The piping route of hydraulic hose is designed with avoiding interferences to surrounding components. However, in a real practice, the piping route is mostly decided with an expert's experiences on site due to the complexity of design. Thus, this paper proposes a design methodology of the optimized route of a hose. We use NURBS representation to describe the piping route, which is possible to be locally modified, and an energy minimization method is applied to avoid interferences to the surroundings. In other words, the NURBS curve describing a piping route is modified to meet the desired positions from minimizing the perturbation of the control points, and the strain energy of the curve is then optimized to make the curve natural. The proposed method is implemented and its feasibility is validated using the commercial CAD software, CATIA V5.

Removal of OH Spectral Interferences from Aqueous Solvents in Inductively Coupled Plasma-Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-AES) with Ar Cryogenic Desolvation

  • The spectral interferences of OH from aqueous solvents in ICP-AES have been studied and eliminated using a cryogenic argon trap. The prominent lines of Bi I 306.772 nm, Al I 309.271 nm, and V II 310.230 nm, which are very seriously overlapped with the OH band, were examined. With an extended torch and high tangential flow of 20 L/min, water vapor from air entrainment was prevented. The combination of a condenser and argon cryogenic trap was able to eliminated most of water vapor carried by the argon sample gas. Removal of OH spectral interference could extend the linearity of the calibration curve 5-10 times on the lower concentration for ICP-AES. Interference Equivalent Concentration (IEC) has been reduced to 5.6, 5.9, and 12.4 times for Bi, Al and V, respectively.

  • In this paper, minimum mean-square-error (MMSE)-based transceiver processing of a bidirectional amplify-and-forward (AF) relay having multiple antennas is proposed. Besides, the optimal beamforming vectors of users are designed in the sense of the sum rate maximization. Simulation results show that the proposed relay processing can effectively reduce both co-channel interferences and self-interferences and that the proposed beamforming method is proper to the bidirectional communication employing the AF relay.

  • In this paper, we propose structures and power spectral densities of UWB radar transmitters of Short Range Automobile. While the conventional transmitters did not consider interferences from self and other automobiles, the proposed method of this paper can minimize interferences. First, we compare a structure of the proposed method with pulse train and pulse compression method. Then, by using mathematical analysis and computer simulations, we show that the proposed method is superior to others. Also we can set proper parameters in UWB radar's transmitter through the numerical method of mathematical results.

  • An optimum design has been performed to maximize specific energy (SED) of composite flywheel rotor for energy storage system. The flywheel rotor is assumed to be an axisymmetric thick laminated shell with a plane strain state for structural analysis. For the structural analysis the centrifugal force is considered and the stiffness matrix equation was derived for each ring considering the interferences between the rings. The global stiffness matrix was derived by integrating the local stiffness matrix satisfying the conditions of force and displacement compatibilities. Displacements are then calculated from the global stiffness matrix and the stresses in each ring are also calculated. 3-D intra-laminar quadratic Tsai-Wu criterion is then used for the strength analysis. An optimum procedure is also developed to find the optimal interferences and lay up angle to maximize SED using the sensitivity analysis.

  • This paper proposes a centralized backoff control scheme for guaranteeing fair packet transmissions in S-ALOHA CDMA system. In S-ALOHA CDMA system, simultaneously transmitted packets act as multiple access interferences, so that unsuccessful packet transmissions are caused entirely by multiple access interferences. Therefore, in order to maximize the system performance, the levels of MAI should be kept at an optimal level. In the proposed scheme, the base station broadcasts the packet transmission probability, which is calculated based on the level of MAI. Mobile stations attempt to transmit their packet with the received probability. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can guarantee a good fairness among all the mobile stations.

  • This paper presents the potential interferences in various grounding electrode systems. The ground potential rise and potential interference coefficients were calculated as a function of the configuration and size of grounding electrodes and the distance between grounding electrodes. The potential rise and potential interference coefficient strongly depend on the distance between grounding electrodes, the shape and size of grounding electrodes.

Spectrophotometric Determination of Palladium after Solid-liquid Extraction with 4-(2-Pyridylazo)-resorcinol at 90°C

  • An effective spectrophotometric determination of palladium with 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol (PAR) using molten naphthalene as a diluent has been studied. A red complex of palladium with PAR is formed at 90 ${^{\circ}C}$. In the range of pH 9.0-11.0, the complex is quantitatively extracted into molten naphthalene. The organic phase is anhydrously dissolved in $CHCl_3$ to be determined spectrophotometrically at 520 nm against the reagent blank. Beer’s law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.1-2 ${\mu}g{\cdot}mL^{-1}$. The molar absorptivity and Sandell’s sensitivity are 8.0 ${\times}\;10^5\;L{\cdot}mol^{-1}{\cdot}cm^{-}1\;and\;0.49\;{\mu}g{\cdot}cm^{-2}$ respectively. From the results of tolerance limits, it was found that there was no interferences were observed for most of the ions examined and those somewhat high interferences by Co(II), Fe(II) and Bi(III) could be effectively masked by EDTA.

Development on a Transmission Unit for a Plug Type Passenger Door (플러그 방식 승객용 출입문의 변속장치 개발)

  • Since the plug type passenger door has two modes of motion, a power transmission unit must be capable of plug-in or plug-out mode, and sliding mode. Complex planetary gear train is proposed, which is composed of two 2K-H, I type planetary gear units. For the proposed complex planetary gear train, ranges of addendum modification coefficients which would not lead to interferences are analyzed, and optimal addendum modification coefficients among these ranges which generate the maximum efficiency are presented. Based on the results of analysis on interferences, efficiencies and torque ratios, the specifications for the complex planetary gear train were determined. It has been shown by tests of the complex planetary gear train manufactured that the gear train worked well with good agreements of analysis.

Food impaction related with trauma from occlusion (임플란트 보철물의 식편압입: 교합적 원인분석과 대처)

  • Food impaction between the implant prostheses and adjacent teeth is the most frequently observed problem. It may be caused by the migration of the adjacent teeth. This symptom may be observed at the mesial aspect of implant prostheses especially, and related with the multiple contributing factors including teeth vitality and antagonist. Idal proximal contact with optimal strength and shape should be made for preventing the food impaction. Shape of customized abutment and prosthesis should have optimal emergence profile. Long duration from the extraction to the delivery of implant prostheses, the adjacent teeth and antagonist teeth may have possibility of occlusal interferences. Remained teeth mobility can induce the food impaction regardless of interproximal contact strength. Occlusal adjustment to remove occlusal interferences can be a method for enhancing the stability of interproximal contact.
