  • In this paper, the analysis model of a composite electromagnetic interference environment is proposed, and the composite interference consists of three types, i.e., impulse, sinusoidal, and rectangular type. Also, we have derived the p.d.f of the amplitude of the composite interference. And using a derived p.d.f, we have evaluated the performance of 16QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) system in a composite electromagnetic interference environment. From the results, it is known that when impulse type interference is weaker than the others, the shape of p.d.f is dominantly governed by the power component ratio of sinusoidal and rectangular type interference. On the other hand, when impulse type interference is stronger, the effect of the other two interference becomes insignificant. Also, It is shown that the smaller both impulsive index (A) and the mean power component ratio ($\Gamma$') in impulse type interference are, the worse the performance of 16QAM system is.

  • In this paper, we propose the multi-channel interference cancellation algorithm for visible light communication (VLC) in smart building. The VLC system is communication technology using visible rays that come out in Light Emitting Diode (LED) device. It has energy curtailment effect and possible to use in ubiquitous network service applications. When a large number of users communicate indoors, the performance can be reduced due to channel interference. To remove interference, at the first, the minimum mean square error (MMSE) scheme as interference cancellation methods used, and then the successive interference cancellation (SIC) is applied to obtain additional diversity gain and improve interference cancellation performance. Indoor VLC channel model is employed. The performance is evaluated in terms of bit error rate (BER). From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme has better BER performance compared to the previous systems. As a result, the proposed interference cancellation improves the signal quality of VLC systems by effectively removing the channel noise. The results of the paper can be applied to VLC for smart building and general communication systems.

  • In this paper, we model the interference plus noise signal for terrestrial cloud transmission systems and present bit error rate (BER) performances. Since terrestrial cloud transmission systems experience co-channel interference from one or more transmitters, they have to operate under a negative signal-to-interference plus noise ratio (SINR) region. The interference plus noise signal can be modeled as Gaussian random variable under the required SINR region and we observe the BER performance of the cloud transmission system using the derived model. Also, we propose an improved channel estimation scheme by averaging the channel estimates based on least square based interpolation scheme. Simulation results show that the cloud transmission system can operate under negative SINR region using the proposed channel estimation scheme.

  • In this paper, we examine the scheme that the CR (Cognitive Radio) user can coexist with primary user with obeying the concept of interference temperature proposed by FCC. Regarding to the capability of classifying the signals of primary user after the spectrum sensing, the interference temperature model can be discriminated by the ideal and generalized ones. And then, about each model, it can optimize the bandwidth and transmit power with satisfying predetermined capacity of CR user. Especially, it has been considered to allocate to CR user not to interfere to primary users for proper coexistence in conventional interference temperature multiple access technique, proposed by T. Clancy, but this paper proposes the scheme that considering QoS of not only primary users, but also CR user. The hill-climbing algorithm is employed to produce the bandwidth and transmit power subject to satisfying the required capacity.

  • Due to the low utilization and scarcity of frequency spectrum in current spectrum allocation methodology, cognitive radio networks (CRNs) have been proposed as a promising method to solve the problem, of which spectrum sensing is an important technology to utilize the precious spectrum resources. In order to protect the primary user from being interfered, most of the related works focus only on the restriction of the missed detection probability, which may causes over-protection of the primary user. Thus the interference probability is defined and the interference-aware sensing model is introduced in this paper. The interference-aware sensing model takes the spatial conditions into consideration, and can further improve the network performance with good spectrum reuse opportunity. Meanwhile, as so many fading factors affect the spectrum channel, errors are inevitably exist in the reporting channel in cooperative sensing, which is improper to be ignored. Motivated by the above, in this paper, we study the throughput tradeoff for interference-aware cognitive radio networks over imperfect reporting channel. For the cooperative spectrum sensing, the K-out-of-N fusion rule is used. By jointly optimizing the sensing time and the parameter K value, the maximum throughput can be achieved. Theoretical analysis is given to prove the feasibility of the optimization and computer simulations also shows that the maximum throughput can be achieved when the sensing time and the parameter of K value are both optimized.

  • In this paper, when WLAN repeater of satellite communication package system as a novel wireless disaster communication network connected to LTE D2D mobile terminal, we analyzed radio channel interference from WLAN and WPAN system of adjacent same ISM band using Monte-Carlo method. In this study, WLAN cell radius was determined using Extended Hata Model considering practical environment, and simulated physical protection distance and density in the dense-mode to minimize interference from WLAN, Bluetooth, and ZigBee. Simulation results, WLAN repeater can be operated with 15 WLAN interferer over 130m distance, 23 Bluetooth interferer over 100m distance, and with 62 ZigBee interferer over 83m distance.

  • A program that predicts trajectories of projectiles influenced by the interference flow field of helicopters is developed. The interference flow field are computed using a compressible inviscid solver in conjunction with an actuator disc model. The trajectories are predicted using 6-DOF (Degree of Freedom) equations as well as an alternative form of modified point mass equations of motion. The method for the interference flow field prediction method are validated with ROBIN(ROtor Body INteraction) model. A Sierra international bullet and a 105mm projectile are used to validate the trajectory method. Trajectories of a Sierra International bullet and a HYDRA 70 rocket firing from a helicopter are predicted.

  • TD-CDMA is based on a combination of CDMA, TDMA, and TDD technologies, and it is proposed to support TDD mode for IMT-2000 service. To analyze the performance of TD-CDMA, we have to establish a modeling technique that takes into account the interference that can occur in each scheme. There is special interference in TDD mode, e.g. interference from base station to base station and from mobile to mobile. In this paper, we present an interference model for analyzing the performance of TD-CDMA systems and the slot allocation strategies. This model includes the cell synchronization error. As a result, this paper shows that almost equal slot allocation and low cell synchronization error guarantee desirable performance in TD-CDMA.

  • Multiple impact models to examine the effect of stress interference are proposed and investigated. The single shot model analysis, which used various shot ball conditions, was carried out to compare with multiple impacts analysis. Then the multiple impact analysis were performed to predict the effect of the shot ball distances. The results showed that the stress interference in the multiple impact model significantly reduced the maximum value of the compressive residual stresses. The residual stress profiles were strongly effected by the shot ball distances. The multiple impact model can simulate a realistic shot peening process rather than a single shot model does. It is concluded that the proposed model predicts the real process more accurately.

  • Under the power-based capture model, a transmission is successfully received at the destination, even in the presence of other transmissions and background noise, if the received signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio exceeds a capture threshold. We evaluate the spectral efficiency of simple multi-user channels by combining the basic capture model with a communication-theoretic model. The result is a more refined capture model that incorporates key system design parameters (such as achievable bit rate, target bit error rate, channel bandwidth, and modulation signal constellations) that are absent from the basic capture model. The relationships among these parameters can serve as a tool for optimizing the network performance.
