Vacuum Dependency of Si, Co Slicide and Mo Silicide FEAs

  • In this paper, it is reported that the anode current changes at the constantly applied gate voltages and the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of Si, Co silicide and Mo silicide field emitter arrays (FEAs) depending on vacuum level from a $10^{-9}$ torr to a $10^{-6}$ torr. The mechanism of the robustness of anode current degradation of Mo silicide FEAs under poor vacuum conditions can be explained by the model of tolerance for the oxygen adsorption and oxidation at the silicide surface. Also, we present the changes of emitting area and work function of the emitters according to vacuum level.

Frequency Dependency of Multi-layer OLED Current Density-voltage Shift and Its Application to Digitally-driven AMOLED

  • We report, for the first time, operation frequency dependence of current density-voltage ($J_{OLED}-V_{OLED}$) shift for multi-layer organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). When the OLEDs were electrically stressed for 21 hours with 50% duty voltage pulses at 60, 120, 240, and 360 Hz, the JOLED-VOLED shifts were suppressed by half for 360 Hz operation compared with 60 Hz operation, but with little change in emission efficiencies. This frequency dependent $J_{OLED}-V_{OLED}$ shift is believed to be commonly observed for typical multi-layer OLEDs and can be used to further improve lifetime of digitally-driven active-matrix OLED displays.

Developmental Trajectory of Mobile Phone Dependency among Youth and its Psychological/Emotional Predictors (아동·청소년기 휴대폰 의존의 발달궤적과심리·정서적 예측요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the developmental trajectories of youth's mobile phone dependency, focusing on the psychological/emotional predictors using latent growth modeling(LGM). The data was collected from the 3th wave to the 6th wave(2012-2015) among panel survey for the 4th grade of elementary schools involving 2,219 students participated in Korean Children Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) administered by National Youth Policy Institute. The major findings are as follows. First, youth's mobile phone dependency has increased as they got older. On the basis of significance in the variance of intercept and slope for mobile phone dependency, there would be sufficient inter-individual differences in mobile phone dependency among youth. Second, the statistically-significant protective factors are life satisfaction, self-control, academic attitude, sense of community, and achievement motivation. The statistically-significant risk factors are depression, aggression, and social withdrawal. Based on the results, the implications for youth welfare practices were discussed.

  • Recent developments in component technology enable the construction of complex software systems by assembling together off-the-shelf components However, It is still difficult to develop efficient, reliable, and dynamically configurable component-based systems. Unspecified dependencies and behavior on components often has cause the source of the trouble. Therefore, component-based software systems must maintain explicit presentations of inter-component dependence and component requirements. In this paper, I describe the design on repository of component service to deployment, status reporting, and control in component service. Through the existing researches to customize component technology, I present the algorithm that supports dynamic dependency interface in order to reuse context of application.

A Selective Protection Scheme for Scalable Video Coding Based on Dependency Graph Model

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient and effective selective protection scheme to SVC that exploit the propagation of protection effect by protecting significant frames that can give the maximum visual quality degradation. We model SVC dependency coding structure as a directed acyclic graph which is characterized with an estimated visual quality value as the attribute at each node. The estimated visual quality is calculated by using our model based on the proportions of intra- and inter-predicted MBs, amounts of residual, and estimated visual quality of reference frames. The proposed selective protection scheme traverses the graph to find optimal protection paths that can give maximum visual quality degradation. Experimental results show that the proposed selective protection scheme reduces the required number of frames to be protected by 46.02% compared to the whole protection scheme and 27.56% compared to the layered protection scheme.

  • When we try to design a production planning system for a manufacturing company, it is a time consuming task to analyze various planning activities and identify inter-relationship among a lot of decisions made for the production planning. Most of the research efforts have been concentrated to well-organized independent decision-making problems that may usually be identified only after analyzing the characteristics of the decision-making process as a whole. In this paper, a methodology is suggested to characterize the whole process of the production planning for a manufacturing company and reduce the complexity of decision-making problems. The methodology is based on an experience of developing a production planning software for an automobile component manufacturer in korea. First, it is explained how to identify and represent the dependency among various decision-making variables. And a methodology is proposed to analyze the identified dependency among decision variables and identify decision-making process. Lastly, a practical example is provided to illustrate the analysis procedure in this paper.

The Effects of Corner Transistors in STI-isolated SOI MOSFETs

  • In this work, the effects of corner transistors in SOI MOSFETs were investigated. We fabricated SOI MOSFETs with various widths and a fixed length and characterized them. The SOI thickness was $4000{\AA}$ and the buried oxide(BOX) thickness was $4000{\AA}$. The isolation of active region was simply done by silicon etching and TEOS sidewall formation. Several undesirable characteristics have been reported for LOCOS isolation in fabrication on SOI wafers so far. Although we used an STI-like process instead of LOCOS, there were still a couple of abnormal phenomena such as kinks and double humps in drain current. Above all, we investigated the location of the parasitic transistors and found that they were at the corners of the SOI in width direction by high-resolution SEM inspection. It turned out that their characteristics are strongly dependent on the channel width. We made a contact pad through which we can control the body potential and figured out the dependency of operation on the body potential. The double humps became more prominent as the body bias went more negative until the full depletion of the channel where the threshold voltage shift did not occur any more. Through these works, we could get insights on the process that can reduce the effects of corner transistors in SOI MOSFETs, and several possible solutions are suggested at the end.

Current-Integrating DFE with Sub-UI ISI Cancellation for Multi-Drop Channels

  • This paper presents a half-rate current-integrating DFE receiver with sub-unit interval (sub-UI) inter-symbol interference (ISI) cancellation. By having a single additional DFE tap in each data path, the proposed DFE receiver can minimize BER degradation due to input pattern dependency and feedback tap latency problems in conventional current-integrating DFE receivers. The proposed DFE receiver was designed and fabricated in a 45 nm CMOS process, whose measurement results indicated that the BER bathtub width is increased from 0.235 UI to 0.315 UI (34% improvement) at $10^{-12}$ BER level.

Deposition Characteristics of $TEOS-O_3$ Oxide Film on Substrate (기판 막질에 따른 $TEOS-O_3$ 산화막의 증착 특성)

  • Deposition of $TEOS-O_3$ oxide film as inter-metal dielectric layer shows the substrate dependency according to the substrate material and pattern density and pitch size. To minimize substrate and Pattern dependency, TEOS-base and $SiH_4-base$ Plasma oxide were predeposited as underlying material on the substrate. The substrate dependency of $TEOS-O_3$ oxide film was more significant on TEOS-base plasma oxide than on $SiH_4-base$ plasma oxide. The dependency of $TEOS-O_3$ oxide film was remarkably reduced, or nearly eliminated, by $N_2$plasma treatment on TEOS-base plasma oxide, which appears to be caused by the O-Si-N structure, observed on the the surface of TEOS-base plasma oxide.

  • Successful Electronic Commerce(EC) requires not only a transformation of the supply chain but a redesign of organizational processes as well. Just as the organizations in a supply chain must cooperate with each other to achieve a collective goal, so too do the departments and groups that comprise an organization depend on each other to achieve the organization's goals. A lack of coordination at either of these levels can result in poor performance and high coordination costs. In addition, changes in inter-organizational dependencies can affect the dependencies within the affected organizations. The lack of coordination across two levels results in a transition gap in transforming the inter-organizational design to the intro-organizational design in EC deployments. The purpose of this research is to develop a modeling method for coordination, managing the linkage between inter- and intra-organizations in EC deployments. The method was applied to the EC development project of a cable TV home-shopping company. The coordination approach enabled us to manage dependencies among the coordination elements and identify the effect of a change on other elements, which became the basis for effective EC deployments. We will discuss the method and compare it with other dependency management methods.
