Design of Shipboard integrated network platform for Digital-ship (디지털 선박을 위한 선박 통합화 네트워크 설계 및 구현)

  • For the efficient and safe navigation management of ships cruising across oceans, international maritime law environments have been reinforced and the demand of information sharing between ships and shore has also been increasing. According to these environments and demand. researches about digital ships, ship integration, and ship integration networks have been active recently in US and Europe. In this raper, we first investigate about the proper ship integration platform, and then design and implement a ship integration network based upon the ship integration platform. We construct networks connecting various devices and systems into a layered architecture, and design an integration protocols. Based upon this architecture and protocols, we implement an ship integration system which manages all data and information of ship in a standardized platform and support ship-shore information sharing through which the more efficient and safer ship navigation management are supported with help from shore. We test our ship integration system by applying it to real operating ships and we find our system reliability and verify the efficiency of ship-shore information sharing and management.

A Study on the Education System of Seamen's Competency Certificate in Small Ships under the Concerned Laws (소형 선박 해기사의 교육 제도에 관한 기초 연구 -법정 교육을 중심으로-)

  • This study was carried out to reduce the number of marine accidents on versatile small ships and to minimize the casualties. The study looked into the compulsory education systems regarding embarkation on small ships such as the Korean Marine Officers Act, conducted a survey targeting on the education receivers to suggest problems, and drew a conclusion. Conclusions are as follows. First, it is needed to give education opportunities in the system by increasing the recipients of the Ships Officers Act, and to simplify the compulsory education by separating similar courses from the education regulated by the Korean Marine Officers Act, and by establishing integrated courses suitable to each size and facility of ships. Second, in cases where the compulsory education courses of different purpose of ships by other legislations are similar, it is necessary to expand the scope of the inter-education so that corresponding year's education is exempted. Third, by classifying the education ares, the education courses should be based on case studies and the audiovisual or field education that correlates relevant expertise should be managed within a reasonable time frame. Fourth, it is needed to enhance the education effect by converting the regular education courses to practical courses by different ships for safe navigation, and is also needed to review the system so that special courses for safe navigation can be carried out in each region on a regular basis by expanding both human and financial support of special institutions.

  • Geodetic surveying using precise GPS equipment are used without analysis with a statistical verification of GPS observed value and it was preformed by necessity to integration projection of digital topographic map and nautical Chart for integration geographic information system construction. The purpose of this study proposes method that improve accuracy of GPS observed value and direction that integrally manage digital topographic map and electronic nautical chart in analyzing the boundary line error between digital topographic map and nautical Chart. For improvement of the precision of GPS observed value, the author studied precision-analysis of GPS observed value by geometric strength and variance factor in 3 control points used in GPS network adjustment. This study compare the whole boundary point error When producing EDM measurement using this GPS observation results and setting digital topographic map and nautical chart by these boundary.

  • Recently, Elevator industry is pursuing new challenges to the model of the IT convergence. The core of the convergence technologies may be the effective control and maintenance of the machine. However, because current elevator management model provides each specific model for his elevator, the management models have a variety of heterogeneous configuration so that it makes management companies to manage the elevators with many overhead. In this paper, we propose the integration framework for the various elevator models. We use proposed system based on the Android framework that is rapidly expanding technology in the embedded environment, and we propose design approach for the integration of variety of lift devices so that it provide a more efficient and stable service environment. In this way, we could integrate various device models of an elevator for the management and maintenance effectively and quickly.

Analysis and Compensation of Time Synchronization Error on SAR Image (시각 동기화 오차가 SAR 영상에 미치는 영향 분석 및 보상)

  • In this paper, to improve Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image quality, the effect of time synchronization error in the EGI/IMU (Embedded GPS/INS, Inertial Measurement Unit) integrated system is analyzed and state augmentation is applied to compensate it. EGI/IMU integrated system is widely used as a SAR motion measurement algorithm, which consists of EGI mounted to obtain the trajectory and IMU mounted on the SAR antenna. In an EGI/IMU integrated system, a time synchronization error occurs when the clocks of the sensors are not synchronized. Analysis of the effect of time synchronization error on navigation solutions and SAR images confirmed that the time synchronization error deteriorates SAR image quality. The state augmentation is applied to compensate for this and as a result, the SAR image quality does not decrease. In addition, by analyzing the performance and the observability of the time synchronization error according to the maneuver, it was confirmed that the time-variant maneuver such as rotational motion is necessary to estimate the time synchronization error adequately. In order to reduce the influence of the time synchronization error on the SAR image, the time synchronization error must be compensated by performing maneuver changing over time such as a rotation before SAR operation.

Development of Cloud-based VTS Integration Platform for IVEF Service Implementation (IVEF 서비스 구현을 위한 클라우드 기반 VTS 통합 플랫폼 개발)

  • The International Association Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) proposed guidelines for VTS manual operation in 2016 for safe and efficient operation of ship. The Korea Coast Guard (KCG) established and operated 19 VTS centers in ports and coastal waters across the country by 2022 based on the IALA VTS manual and VTS operator's education and training guidelines. In addition, IALA proposed the Inter-VTS Exchange Format (IVEF) Service recommendation (V-145), a standard for data exchange between VTS, in 2011 for efficient e-Navigation system services and safe and efficient VTS service support by VTS authorities. The IVEF service in a common framework for ship information exchange, and it presents seven basic IVEF service (BISs) models. VTS service providers can provide safer and more efficient VTS services by sharing VTS information on joint area using IVEF standards. Based on the BIS data, interaction, and interfacing models, this paper introduced the development of the cloud-based VTS integration services performed by the KCG and the results of the VTS integration platform test-bed for IVEF service implementation. In addition, the results of establishing a cloud VTS integrated platform test-bed for the implementation of IVEF service and implementing the main functions of IVEF service were presented.

Development of Intelligent safety diagnosis system of motor (전동기 안전진단시스템 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This paper proposes integrated safety diagnosis system of motor used in a ship. It carried out the safety diagnosis for insulation-resistor and current. The motor exposed to sea breeze and oil all the time is able to have problems as a over-current, reduction of the insulation-resistor and so on. These problems impact on the safety navigation, and occur a heavy casualties and loss of property. The proposed system is able to sense error of the motor before a accident occur, by verifying and controlling value of the insulation-resistor and current in working area or control room. The validity of the proposed system is verified through experiment results on the 3-Phase induction motor.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that starts with the searching result of user's query and continuously offers new keywords related to the query. The primary purpose of the proposed system is to help users find information that the users cannot explain clearly. The proposed system obtains useful information by connecting different information sources, represents the information under an integrated schema, and offers a cross searching environment. In addition, it presents a visualized diagram that shows relations between keywords so that users can easily find the desired information. Therefore users can find information easily in an envirionment that is not limited to a certain site.

  • The high tech marine transportation infrastructure is an innovative transportation infrastructure that may be able to secure a safe transportation environment as well as efficient operation by connecting up-to-date skills including a broad range of wire and wireless communication-based information, control and electronics technologies. When integrated into the marine transportation infrastructure by the standard requirements, these standard technologies help monitoring and managing navigational aids. This paper defined a concept of middleware in the marine traffic management systems which gives characteristics of system independency, scalability, extensibility, and researches a functionality of the middleware and a software block of the middleware.
