AUTOMATIC TUNING OF FUZZY OPTIMAL CONTROL SYSTEM

  • We investigate a systematic design procedure of automated rule generation of fuzzy logic based controller for uncertain dynamic systems such as an engine dynamic model.“Automated Tuning”means autonomous clustering or collection of such meaningful transitional relations in the state-space. Optimal control strategies are included in the design procedures, such as minimum squared error, minimum time, minimum energy or combined performance criteria. Fuzzy feedback control systems designed by the cell-state transition method have the properties of closed-loop stability, robustness under parameter variabtions, and a certain degree of optimality. Most of all, the main advantage of the proposed approach is that reliability can be potentially increased even if a large grain of uncertainty is involved within the control system under consideration. A numerical example is shown in which we apply our strategic fuzzy controller design to a highly nonlinear model of engine idle speed contr l.

  • We may gaze at some peculiar scenes of flocking of birds and fishes. This paper demonstrates that multiple agent mobile robots show complex behaviors from efficient and strategic rules. The simulated flock are realized by a distributed behavioral model and each mobile robot decides its own motion as an individual which moves constantly by sensing the dynamic environment.

  • To improve the performance of PID controller of high order systems by model reduction, we proposed a new model reduction method in frequency domain. A new model reduction method we proposed, considered four points (${\angle}G(jw)=0$, $-{\pi}/2$, $-{\pi}$, $-3{\pi}/2$) in stead of two points (${\angle}G(jw)=-{\pi}/2$, and $-{\pi}$) in Nyquist curve. And for high order systems that it have not two point (${\angle}G(jw)=-{\pi}/2$, and $-{\pi}$) in Nyquist curve, we proposed a method to annex very small dead time. This method has a annexed very small dead time on the base model for reduction, and we cancel it after to get the reduced model. It is shown that the performance of proposed method is better than any other methods.

  • In this paper, we suggest a optimal design method of Fuzzy-Neural Networks model for complex and nonlinear systems. FNNs have the stucture of fusion of both fuzzy inference with linguistic variables and Neural Networks. The network structure uses the simpified inference as fuzzy inference system and the BP algorithm as learning procedure. And we use a clustering algorithm to find initial parameters of membership function. The parameters such as membership functions, learning rates and momentum coefficients are easily adjusted using the genetic algorithms. Also, the performance index with weighted value is introduced to achieve a meaningful balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. To evaluate the performance index, we use the time series data for gas furnace and the sewage treatment process.

  • As the industry environment is changing to automated systems, engineering education at university has changed with industrial development. Industry technology will be developed, and the industry environment will become more complicated. Therefore, the knowledge that undergraduates have to acquire in university will be extensive. Industries need a person with expertise to react quickly to rapidly changing technology. Therefore, universities need to endeavor to cultivate manpower in technical fields. This is difficult because the contents of engineering education must react quickly to rapidly changing industry technology. This paper proposes a hardware-linked simulation platform for engineering education on the well-used systems in industrial sites.

  • In this paper, we consider the robust pole assignment for linear system with time-varying uncertainty. The considered uncertainty is an unstructured uncertainty. Based on Lyapunov stability and linear matrix inequality technique, we present a condition that guarantees the robust pole assignment inside a circular disk and the robust stability of uncertain linear systems. Finally, we show the usefulness of our results by an example.

  • This paper presents the design, modelling and, simulation and experimental results of a shape memory alloy (SMA) actuator based critical motion control application. Dynamic performance of SMA and its ability in replacing servo motor is studied for which the famous open loop unstable balancing ball and beam system direct driven by antagonistic SMA is designed and developed. Simulation uses the mathematical model of ball and beam structure derived from the first principles and model estimated for the SMA actuator by system identification. A PID based cascade control system consisting of two loops is designed and control of ball trajectory for various target positions with settling time as control parameter is verified experimentally. The results demonstrate the performance of SMA for a complicated i.e., under actuated, highly nonlinear unstable system, and thereby it's dynamic behaviour. Control strategies bring out the effectiveness of the actuator and its possible application to much more complex applications such as in aerospace control and robotics.

  • MPEG-II is the international standard of compression for digital image and digital audio that is the most important in the multimedia environment. Now many researchers are developing relevant systems. MPEG-II consists of video, audio, system and the other part. In this paper, we have designed and demonstrated two channel audio encoder system that processes the audio compression part, and excutes layer II for complexity and psychoacoustic model II, with ADSP-21020 of Analog Device.

  • This paper proposes a model for simulation and performance evaluation of distributed computer systems(DCS). The model is composed of operating system(OS), resource, task, environment submodel. Task Flow Graph(TFG) is suggested to describe the relation between tasks. This paper considers task response time, the scheduler's ready queue length, utilization of each resource as performance indices. The distributed system of Continuous Annealing Line(CAL) in iron process is simulated with the proposed model.

  • Siphons and traps are special structures of Petri nets with closely related to liveness for the deadlock analysis of Discrete Event Dynamic Systems. It can analysis the liveness of Petri nets using the siphon and trap without to check reachability.[1] Deadlock analysis approach we proposed is based on the notion of potential deadlock which are siphons that eventually become empty. And in this paper, we proposed a initial marking method by siphon to avoid and to prevent deadlock. It is shown that our approach is more efficient than classical state enumeration approach.
