Objectives: This study was conducted to identify health-promoting behaviors and related factors by type of residence between two groups of college students: those who live in dormitories and those who commute from home. Methods: We used the data from 2,287 students (870 male, 1417 female) from 14 colleges in Daegu and Kyungpook areas and compared health-promoting practice scores, general characteristics, health environment, and parental support. Multiple regression analysis was performed with health-promoting practice scores as a dependent variable. Results: Dormitory residents presented significantly lower health-promoting practice scores than commuters in both gender. Multiple regression analysis showed that the factors associated with health-promoting behaviors were health environment (p<0.05) and parental influence/support (p<0.01) for male dormitory residents. For female dormitory residents interest in health(p<0.05), stress(p<0.05), and parental influence/support(p<0.01) were associated. Conclusions: Systematic development of health education programs would be needed for the practice of health promotion behavior of college dormitory students with the help of environmental and institutional support. We suggest a program for stress management, smoking, health behavior, and alcohol and a parental program to increase contact with their children for a positive parental influence and support.
Information on productivity of hospital personnel is required for optimum staffing and hospital management. This study deals with the quantitative aspects of workload of medical personnel in training hospitals by their specific characteristics. Specifically this study attempted to find relevant determinants of the productivity of medical personnel using multiple stepwise regression analysis based on data obtained from 135 training hospitals. The findings of this study were as follows: 1) Daily average number of outpatients and inpatients treated by a physician were 20.4 and 10.2, respectively. 2) Daily average number of patients cared by a nurse was 8.2. Daily average number of tests performed by pathologic technician and radiologic technician were 83.2 and 21.5, respectively. 3) Productivity of medical personnel were significantly different for the three groups of factors: hospital sire (number of beds, number of medical personnel per 100 beds): institutional characteristics (medical school affiliation, training type, profit status); and environmental factors (location, number of physician and beds per 1,000 population in the region). 4) The factors a(footing the productivity varied according to the types of medical profession: the number if beds, the number of physicians per 100 beds, training type, and profit status for physicians; the number of nurses per 100 beds, the number of beds, medical school affiliation for nurses; the number of physicians per 100 beds, the number of technicians per 100 beds, and ownership for pathologic technicians; the number o( technicians, training type, and the number of physicians per 100 beds for radiologic technician.
This study investigated the situation of eating meals to identify factors influencing skipping breakfast and types of foods consumed for breakfast among adolescents classified by household type. Adolescents were found to consume mainly homemade meals for breakfast and dinner while consuming institutional foodservice at school for lunch. Percentage of skipping meals among adolescents was different by time of meals, and they skipped meals due to lack of time, which was different according to household type. Main food for breakfast was rice, and percentage of skipping breakfast was the highest in single parent households. Satisfaction of food-related life was lowest in grandparent households. Especially, satisfaction was highest if they had rice for breakfast. For influencing factors on skipping breakfast, social support, eating regularly, concern for origin, and single parent household were found to be significant. For influencing factors on types of foods consumed for breakfast, eating regularly, exercise, satisfaction of food-related life, and concern for food safety among adolescents were found to be significant. If adolescents in grandparent households had rice, they were less likely to skip breakfast.

The heat pump system is attractive alternatives to conventional heating and cooling systems owing to their higher energy utilization efficiency. The thermal loads of commercial and institutional buildings are generally cooling-dominated. In this study have been developed ice storage type heat pump system for cooling and heating by heat pipe. This system was practiced performance test on evaluation criteria for heat storage systems. Accomplished the actual proof examination and looked into the performance of the system. In this study, measurement and analysis of ice storage type heat pump system for cooling and heating by heat pipe. The heat pump unit COP appears 3.05 for cooling and 4.20 for heating. As a result, the method to energy saving and to using a substitute energy actively that is heat pump cooling & heating system is expected by heat pipe. Thermal storage capacity appears $19.5RTH/m^3$ for cooling.
The objectives of this study is to classify evacuation types, derive the characteristics of 4 types, develop and discover evacuation routes within the performance hall space, and present the statistical classification results of the evacuation classification model by classification type. To achieve this purpose, the characteristics of each evacuation type's four types are applied through a network reliability analysis method and utilized for institutional improvement and policy. This study applies for the building law, evacuation and relief safety standards when establishing a performance hall safety management plan, and reflects it in safety-related laws, safety standards, and policy systems. Statistical data by evacuation type were analyzed, and measurement characteristics were compared and analyzed by evacuation types. Evaluate the morphological similarity and reliability of evacuation types according to door width and passage length and propose the install position of evacuation guidance sign boards. The results of this study are expected to be used as basic data to provide operation strategies for safety facility evacuation information sign boards according to evacuation route classification types when taking a safety management plan. The operation strategy for the evacuation sign boards installation that integrates employee guidance and safety training is applied to the performance hall safety management plan. It will contribute to establishing an operational strategy for performance space safety when constructing performance facilities in the future.
The purpose of this study is to review the theoretical discussion on innovation and explore the direction of innovation based on the characteristics of Commissioned-service-type quasi-governmental institutions. In addition, by exploring the main contents and directions of innovation for knowledge creation, this study aims to derive directions for innovation in Commissioned-service-type quasi-governmental institutions. Since an innovation project is both a business and a public service, I conducted a theoretical review to categorize innovation projects using the discussion of service innovation. According to the theoretical framework, innovation in the public sector begins with exploring changes in environmental and social values. This process leads to the establishment of innovation goals and directions, as well as innovation tasks linked to the core competencies of each institution. It is important to note that the institutional conditions and characteristics of the contracting organization should be taken into account. In conclusion, considering these characteristics, Commissioned-service-type quasi-governmental institutions should check their efforts to achieve their innovation tasks and diagnose the conditions for innovation to which type of organization they belong.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the information searching behavior of consumer by type of medical institution. A questionnaire survey was conducted of 1,507 persons who were selected through a multi-stage stratified area cluster sampling in nationwide level, excluding Jeju-Do. Personal survey was conducted through door-to door survey from 27 July to 10 August 1999. The main results of this research was as following; 1. The proportion of information searching of respondents ranged from 91.5-95.2%. Even though the proportion of user in university hospital was slightly high, there was not significant statistically by type of medical institution. In terms of information source, personal informer was most common information source in all type of medical institution. Public informers were more frequently used in university hospital visitors and professional informer in general and university hospital visitors. 2. Comparing to searching intensity, user informer and professional informer's influences were more powerful, but not statistically significant. In analysis of unit influence for information source, written informer or public informer was more powerful in clinic visitor, professional informer and written informer in university hospital visitor. 3. Information which consumer want to know mostly were about on special potential and career of physician. The clinic visitor wanted to know about institutional location and kindness of medical personnel. The university hospital visitor also wanted to know about facilities and convenience of process. Comparing to institution selection criteria of consumers at 1991, quality related criteria were recognized more importantly in outpatient and dental services. But in case of inpatient services, convenience factor was recognized more importantly. In conclusion, the effort for specific marketing plan by type of medical institution should be needed. And more concern on information searching behavior of consumer will be needed.
The purpose of this study was to examine what factors determined the image of dental hygienists. Those factors made a 57.827% prediction of the image of dental hygienists. 3. The relationship of their general characteristics to the decisive factors of dental hygienist image was as follows: 1) By age(pE0.01), marital status(pE0.01), education(pE0.01), occupation(pE0.001), were under the significantly different influence of the formal factor(pE0.01). 2) As to the type of dental institutes they visited, the subjective factor exercised a significantly different influence on the groups(pE0.01). 3) Regarding the frequency of visiting dental institutes, the institutional and work-related factors had a significantly different impact on the groups(pE0.05). 4) Concerning the experience of the caregivers, the work-related factor exercised a significantly different influence on the groups(pE0.05). 5) As to connections between their general characteristics and the decisive factors of dental hygienist image in different areas, the subjective factor mostly had the strongest impact, and the formal factor was least influential.
The purpose of this study is to explore in depth what is the identity of the community foundation, how it operates, and what difficulties it faces. For this purpose, this study conducted in-depth interviews with 5 practitioners working in community foundations. The results of the study are as follows. First, it is important for the participants to identify what their organizations are doing for the community rather than to distinguish them by their legal status. Second, community foundations recognize fundraising as an important achievement regardless of the type. Third, community foundations have experienced difficulties in raising funds, establishing community foundation identity, relationship with other nonprofit organizations in the area, citizen participation, organizational capacity and institutional instability. Therefore, as a policy alternative for community foundations, this study suggested that the establishment of identity and model of community foundation suited to Korean situation, the enhancement of capacity as intermediate support organizations, and the administrative and institutional support of government.
