Objectives: We analyzed water in waterscape facilities to investigate contamination levels of water-borne pathogens and four test items (pH, turbidity, residual chlorine, and Escherichia coli) at facilities including play fountains, splash parks, and artificial streams from June to October in Suwon City and in the whole of Gyeonggi-do. Methods: A total of 62 waterscape facility samples were collected from 36 sites and tested for pathogenic Escherichia coli and water-borne viruses that cause hand-foot-and-mouth disease, eye disease, and acute enteritis. Results: None of the water-borne pathogens were detected in waterscape facility samples collected from across Gyeonggi-do that were for pre-inspection for facility management. However, the results of samples from Suwon collected in hot weather and during the school vacation period showed five total inconsistencies in turbidity (four cases) and Escherichia coli (one case). Three out of the four inconsistent samples in turbidity were from the same facility which operated a sand filtration system due to its locational factors close to mountains. Conclusion: We suggest that the waterscape facilities in Gyeonggi-do are managed properly in the respect of microbial contamination and water quality.
This paper presents one of the demonstration projects undertaken during the FP7 EU-funded Anagennisi project (Innovative reuse of all tyre components in concrete-2014-2017) on a full-scale (30 m×40 m, thickness: 0.2 m) Steel Fibre Reinforced Concrete (SFRC) slab-on-grade using a blend of manufactured steel fibres (MSF) and Recycled Tyre Steel Fibres (RTSF). The aim of the project was to assess the use of RTSF in everyday construction practice. The Anagennisi partners, Dulex Ltd in collaboration with Gradmont-Gradacac Ltd and University of Zagreb, designed, cast and monitored the long-term shrinkage deformations of the indoor slab-on-grade slab at Gradmont's precast concrete factory in Gradacac, Bosnia and Herzegovina. A hybrid RTSF mix (20 kg/㎥ of MSF+10 kg/㎥ of RTSF) was used to comply with the design criteria which included a maximum load capacity of 20 kN/㎡. The slab was monitored for one year using surveying equipment and visual inspection of cracks. During the monitoring period, the slab exhibited reasonable deformations (a maximum displacement of 3.3 mm for both, horizontal and vertical displacements) whilst after five years in use, the owners did not report any issues and were satisfied with the construction methodology and materials used. This work confirms that RSTF is a viable and sustainable solution for slab-on-grade applications.
Axial displacement of an implant-supported prosthesis is frequently reported in clinical and laboratory studies. However, limited information is available about the behavior of the axial displacement of implant-supported prostheses functioning in intraoral situations. The present case report evaluated the three-dimensional displacement of posterior single implant-supported prostheses in 2 different patients. Internal connection type implants were placed, and screw and cement-retained prosthesis (SCRP) type prosthesis were delivered after an appropriate healing period. Intraoral digital scans were performed using an intraoral scanner (Cerec Omnicam, Dentsply Sirona, USA) on the day of crown delivery and one week, one month, and one year after delivery. The amount of 3-dimensional displacement of the prosthesis was evaluated by using a digital inspection software (Geomagic Control X, 3D systems, USA). The axial displacement of implant-supported prosthesis occurred in both patients. Furthermore, the amount of displacement increased over time.

Recently, the frequency of damage to slopes for highways, railways, and complexes has been increasing according to abnormal climates such as heavy rainfall or snowfall. Rapid Hardening Composite Mat (RHCM) could be a satisfactory alternative because it has the advantages that large-scale earthwork is not essential and the period for restoration is minimized. Also, this method does not require heavy machines and a phase of maintenance for slopes against the shotcrete method or planted slope protection, which are representative slope protection methods. Furthermore, the curing time is shorter than Geosynthetic Concrete Composite Mat (GCCM). Therefore, RHCM could be useful for emergency restoration work. Thus, in this study, the strength and duration of RHCM are estimated, compared, and analyzed with GCCM. As a result of the laboratory test, the strength of RHCM is greater 51%, and the duration is larger 69% than GCCM.
We analyzed the responses of 152 science-gifted high school students by surveying the status and recognition of writing and keeping laboratory notebooks to develop guidelines and education plans. Science-gifted students did not write laboratory notes diligently, despite recognizing that it is crucial to do so. Mentors also tended not to provide faithful guidance and inspection. There was an insufficient practice in using research evidence in laboratory notebooks, such as including names and dates for authentication. In addition, while a high ratio of students owned their own laboratory notebooks, there was not a high level of recognition regarding the retention period, ownership, and responsibility. Based on these results, we propose suggestions for improving educational institutions for gifted students in science. First, it is necessary to strengthen the guidance for science-gifted students to faithfully write laboratory notebooks. Second, education on writing laboratory notebooks should be provided. Third, science-gifted high schools should prepare regulations for the management of lab notes and conduct education based on them.

Only employing historical data limits the estimation of the full distribution of probable Tropical Cyclone (TC) risk due to the insufficiency of samples. Addressing this limitation, this study introduces a semi-physical TC rainfall model that produces spatially and temporally resolved TC rainfall data to improve TC risk assessments. The model combines a statistical-based track model based on the Markov renewal process to produce synthetic TC tracks, with a physics-based model that considers the interaction between TC and the atmospheric environment to estimate TC rainfall. The simulated data from the combined model are then fitted to a probability distribution function to compute the spatially heterogeneous risk brought by landfalling TCs. The methodology is employed in South Korea as a case study to be able to implement a country-scale-based vulnerability inspection from damaging TC impacts. Results show that the proposed model can produce TC tracks that do not only follow the spatial distribution of past TCs but also reveal new paths that could be utilized to consider events outside of what has been historically observed. The model is also found to be suitable for properly estimating the total rainfall induced by landfalling TCs across various points of interest within the study area. The simulated TC rainfall data enable us to reliably estimate extreme rainfall from higher return periods that are often overlooked when only the historical data is employed. In addition, the model can properly describe the distribution of rainfall extremes that show a heterogeneous pattern throughout the study area and that vary per return period. Overall, results show that the proposed approach can be a valuable tool in providing sufficient TC rainfall samples that could be an aid in improving TC risk assessment.
Recently, there is an increasing demand to quickly identify changes in the field by applying Digital-twin for on-site management control and analyzing changes in real-time data transmitted. When technologies such as Digital-twin are applied, early problem response and quick response to situations are possible. However, in order to maximize the advantages of digital twin technology, a method of collecting and managing sensor data that collects field information at an appropriate period is required. need. In addition, it is necessary to consider how sensor information is transmitted to each management domain and how to identify and respond to abnormal situations so that it can be visualized for each management purpose. In this paper, we propose a method for collecting heterogeneous sensor information and related system configuration for on-site inspection management based on digital twin.
The study was conducted to determine bio-markers and establish shelf-life for eggs and egg products. The selected biomarkers were measured storage period according to samples (two months for table eggs and two weeks for whole liquid eggs) and five storage temperatures ($10^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$, $35^{\circ}C$ and $45^{\circ}C$). The bio-markers for table eggs determined pH, acid value, VBN (volatile basic nitrogen), HU (Haugh unit), aerobic plate counts, coliform group, and Salmonella sp. The bio-markers for whole liquid eggs excluded HU in the bio-markers of eggs. The shelf-life of table eggs observed as 42 d at $10^{\circ}C$, 27 d at $15^{\circ}C$, 9 d at $25^{\circ}C$, 2 d at $35^{\circ}C$, and 1 d at $45^{\circ}C$ in sensory overall acceptability. The shelf-life of pasteurized whole liquid eggs observed as 7 d at $10^{\circ}C$, 3 d at $15^{\circ}C$, 2 d at $25^{\circ}C$, 1 d at $35^{\circ}C$, and less than one d at $45^{\circ}C$ in total plate count. The shelf-life of non- pasteurized whole liquid eggs observed as 4 d at $10^{\circ}C$, 2 d at $15^{\circ}C$, 1 d at $25^{\circ}C$, and less than 1 d at $35^{\circ}C$ and $45^{\circ}C$ in total plate count.
Pig producers have been shown keen interest of the number of spermatozoa in a semen dose since pig artificial insemination introduce. However, determining the minimal number of spermatozoa need per AI without detrimental effect on overall reproductive performances is not an easy question to answer. To increase the efficiency of semen utilization in pig AI, optimum number of spermatozoa per dose needed to determine. The objective of this study was to determine the reproductive performance and factors that affect on-farm application of low-dose semen insemination in sows. Data were collected from Darby Genetics AI studs from 4th of June to 7th of July, 2012 (n=401). The numbers of parturition were 84, 234 and 83 in sows inseminated with doses of $1.5{\times}10^9$, $2.0{\times}10^9$ and $2.5{\times}10^9$ spermatozoa in 100ml extender, respectively. There were no significant differences on reproductive performances such as gestation period, total born, total born alive, stillbirth and mummy in sows inseminated with different semen doses. The average number of born alive was 10.5, 11.0 and 10.4 from sows inseminated with $1.5{\times}10^9$, $2.0{\times}10^9$ and $2.5{\times}10^9$ sperms, respectively. Also, number of spermatozoa per dose did not affect litter size (p>0.10). There were no significant differences of maternal genetic line difference on gestation period, total number born, number born alive, born dead and mummy. The estimated correlation coefficients of the different semen doses with total number born, number born alive, born dead and mummy were r=-0.00, -0.01, 0.02 and 0.02, respectively. Taken together, the result of this study suggested that when semen was appropriately inseminated after induced ovulation, insemination with low-dose ($1.5{\sim}2.0{\times}10^9$) semen dose not adversely affect sow's fertility.

This research explores the Korean perspective on parks and the beginning of urban parks in the port opening period. The purpose of the study is to understand how Koreans viewed and accepted the idea of a park as imported from western culture and with what attitudes. Analyzed sources included: "Susinsa's Record"(修信使記錄) by Susinsa(修信使) who wrote the inspection records of foreign modern cultures for the first time after the port opening, "Seoyukyunmun"(西遊見聞) by Yu Kil-jun(兪吉濬) and "Yun Chi-ho's Diary"(尹致昊日記) by Yun Chi-ho(尹致昊), which are representative works by students sent abroad, as well as some records of Seo Jae-pil(徐載弼) and The Independence Club(獨立協會) such as "The Independent"(獨立新聞), which contains the records of 'IndependencePark'. This research is focused on the literature that reexamins and interprets the related data from primary sources. As a result, it was found that the people who led the modern reformation in the Port Opening period adopted and developed social thinking regarding parks. Indeed, it was possible to witness the gradual sophistication of the concept of a park from the time of Susina's thoughts on parks to that of Yu Kil-jun's support for the need and importance of parks and Yun Chi-ho's cultural and artistic interest in parks. Also, Seo Jae-pil and the Independence Club drove the development of Independence Park, which was designed to incorporate social values and symbols while also serving to meet the needs of recreation, leisure, hygiene, and enlightenment. The Independence Club consistently advocated for the necessity of open spaces and delivered this message to the public via article writing. In short, even prior to the Japanese colonial period, Koreans shared thoughts and exchanged opinions on parks. Parks were to be created not just as a copy or transplant of western parks, but were constructed based on social demands and necessity. As few studies have taken the approach of identifying this origin of Korean parks, thus, this research which traces back the origin of Korean parks, is significant.
