Prisma Statement: The Strategic Advantages and Disadvantages of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI)

  • Purpose: In an increasingly globalized world, foreign direct investment (FDI) plays an essential role in the economic improvement of countries. This study aims to delve into the topic of overseas direct investment (FDI) and offer a complete analysis of its strategic advantages and disadvantages. By thoroughly examining the present literature, this study aims to discover and explore the diverse advantages and drawbacks. Research design, data and methodology: The information analysis system systematically and rigorously examined the selected studies. The evaluation will follow a thematic technique in which conventional subject matters and styles associated with FDI's strategic benefits and downsides can be recognized and synthesized. Data extraction contained relevant facts from the chosen research, along with the study objectives. Results: This study provides the findings of the, which explores the strategic advantages and disadvantages of foreign direct investments (FDI) primarily based on the evaluation of previous research. A comprehensive review of the identified benefits and drawbacks highlights their implications for businesses engaged in FDI. Plant-Parasitic Nematode Genera Associated with Turfgrass in Maryland Golf Courses and Athletic Fields

  • Field surveys were conducted to assess the occurrence and diversity of plant-parasitic nematodes (PPNs) in golf courses and athletic fields across Maryland, USA, during 2022 and 2023. A total of 28 golf courses and ten athletic fields were surveyed, revealing the prevalence and abundance of 13 PPNs taxa in the region. Criconemoides was identified as the most prevalent (94.9%) and Tylenchorhynchus as the most abundant (2.3) across all samples. Central golf courses (west side of the Chesapeake Bay) exhibited a high prevalence of Criconemoides and Tylenchorhynchus, while Eastern Shore golf courses and athletic fields displayed a higher prevalence of Helicotylenchus and Criconemoides. Further, Belonolaimus longicaudatus was reported for the first time from turfgrass in Maryland, raising concerns due to its potential to cause severe damage on both cool- and warm-season turfgrass. Biodiversity analysis indicated that richness (R2) was higher in athletic fields, while diversity (H') and evenness (J') were significantly greater in golf courses. This study provides baseline information for monitoring PPNs distribution in Maryland and also for the development of effective nematode management approaches in turfgrass ecosystems.

Shadow Libraries: A Bibliometric Analysis of Black Open Access Phenomenon (2011: 2023)

  • This study analyzes the global literature on the black open-access phenomenon from 2011 to 2023. A bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Scopus database. The search strategy employed advanced queries with multiple synonymous terms to ensure exhaustive retrieval of relevant documents. The VOSviewer software was employed to visualize the co-occurrence networks. The findings reported 90 papers published during the study period. An evolving scholarly landscape was revealed, with heightened attention from 2016 onwards, peaking in 2017, 2021, and 2023. Articles constitute 83.3% of the total published documents. Singh and Srichandan are prolific authors, with 11.2% of the total publications. The United States contributes 18.9% of the papers, followed by India and Spain. Information Development and Scientometrics are pivotal journals in scholarly discussions about this scope, contributing 4.4% of publications. Co-occurrence network visualization revealed "Sci-Hub" and "open access" as the most used keywords in the global literature. The findings underscore the need for additional research to discover innovative business models to safeguard intellectual property rights while meeting researchers' evolving needs. The importance of this paper comes from being the first bibliometric study analyzing international literature related to this phenomenon, which provides a basis for future research efforts and policymaking.

  • Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a heterogeneous disorder with diverse prognoses influenced by cytopenias, genetic variants, and myeloblast proportions in the bone marrow. Accurate prognosis prediction and tailored treatment plans are essential. The International Prognostic Scoring System-Molecular (IPSS-M), which additionally reflects the impact of MDS-related genetic mutations to the clinical and laboratory information, is anticipated to offer superior prognostic accuracy compared to existing systems like the Revised International Prognostic Scoring System (IPSS-R). Despite its statistical complexity, its web-based calculation and ease of discussing results with patients using intuitive data sets provide notable advantages. Progress in MDS treatment, exemplified by effective anemia correction with an erythropoiesis-maturation agent in SF3B1-mutated cases and efforts to refine poor prognoses in TP53-mutated cases, reflects the evolving landscape of genetic-based interventions in MDS. Advancements in genetic diagnostic technology, combined with enhanced knowledge of the bone marrow niche, are anticipated to lead to significant improvement in MDS treatment outcomes in the future.

Identifying Travel Characteristics of Gangneung's Gyeongpo District as Observed through YouTube Videos (유튜브 영상을 통해 본 강릉 경포지구의 여행 특성 분석)

  • This study analyzed the travel characteristics of Gangneung's Gyeongpo District and user reactions by utilizing YouTube videos. The findings were as follows: First, the most frequently visited places by YouTube video producers in Gyeongpo District were Gyeongpo Lake (55%) and Gyeongpo Beach (28%). In particular, videos featuring walks along the lake and beach paths were prominent, regardless of the season. Second, YouTube video producers predominantly enjoyed solo travel to Gyeongpo Lake (69%) and Gyeongpo Beach (71%), with notably few visits to historical sites. Third, viewers who watched YouTube videos related to Gyeongpo District preferred videos under 10-15 minutes in duration. Comments typically focused on "photos," "information," "solo travel," "hotels," and "healing," with positive evaluations of scenery and accommodations. Fourth, the top nine YouTube videos with the highest view counts were produced by individuals, with limited responses to videos produced by local governments or authorities. The findings identified popular tourist destinations and trends in the Gyeongpo District, noting a bias in visits and behaviors of video producers toward specific locations. This suggests the need to develop tourism resources by utilizing the natural and historical assets of Gyeongpo District. The findings are expected to guide future tourism policies, promotional efforts, and marketing strategies for Gyeongpo District.

Assessment of Urban Land Suitability Analysis for Public Park Planning

  • One of the most time consuming issues in a city development is the identification of suitable areas for urban infrastructures and proper land uses. Suitability analysis is the process and procedures to find the best available land in given area -that is, the ability of a system to select the needs of users in land use. This paper studied the usage of Geographic Information System technique and methods for the selection of the most appropriate sites for public park in the city of Gwangju. GIS was used as a standard technique to find the best available sites for development in urban areas. For this cause, digital elevation model and spatial data were used to produce different thematic layers by using software Idrisi. Criteria for finding the suitable site for park development were decided to evaluate the land and the followings 4 criteria were selected: on land with less than 3 degrees in slope, outside a 200m buffer around lakes, on land currently designated as forests, and 20ha or greater in size. To meet and measure each criterion, distance and context operators were applied to reclassify the importance of certain weight and Boolean images were generated to meet the criteria. These weights and maps has been combined using ArcGIS tools and the final map was prepared showing the most suitable sites. We may assist city planners and government officials in future development of public facilities including parks and related land use plans at urban level and act as to ensure proper land use planning and management of the urban areas.

The Survey and Study of Nujeong(樓亭) on the Han River(漢江) - Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi(沿江亭榭記) written by Eom Gyeong-su(嚴慶遂) - (18세기 한강(漢江)의 누정(樓亭) 조사 연구 - 엄경수(嚴慶遂)의 「연강정사기(沿江亭榭記)」를 중심으로 -)

  • This thesis recapitulates the current status of Nujeongs(樓亭) by the Han River(漢江) from the late Joseon dynasty, and to contemplate the possible options regarding their restoration. The book Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi(沿江亭?記) written by Eom Gyeong-su(嚴慶遂) in 1716 was selected as an object of study. After Hanyang was selected to be the capital of Joseon, Han River was considered to be the greatest venue to visit to take some time off and enjoy the view. The nobleman of the Joseon dynasty built Nujeongs around the riverside and enjoyed boating inthe current status of Nujeongs(樓亭) Han River. Eom Gyeong-su, after traveling on a boat to personally collect information, combined such information with preexisting information to create a well-organized and thorough list of the 29 Nujeongs built by the riverbank, which can be found in his book Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi. It is probable that a closer look into Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi will reveal more information regarding the general atmosphere of the era, which focused on the history and culture of Han River, and will also enable a more thorough research involving the Han River Nujeongs. The Nujeongs listed in Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi were analyzed in this paper. Based on the explanations found in Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi, the locations of the 29 Nujeongs were checked and reconfirmed, and the origins and the meanings behind their names were analyzed. In addition, the history of the Nujeongs were recapitulated with information gained from the basis of the fact that Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi was written in 1716, The origin of each Nujeongs were revisited, and the history of their change and demise were analyzed. Lastly, the sceneries around each Nujeongs were analyzed based on the poetries that were written and read in the respective Nujeongs, and the general taste for the arts in the era was analyzed. Some Nujeongs remain in the form of paintings, enabling us to take a closer look at the institutions and other aspects of the era. The analysis of Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi by this paper has revealed the location of some Han River Nujeongs that were unknown previously. Also, the revelation of some history regarding certain Nujeongs that were unknown previously has created an opportunity for the reinterpretation of the spaces surrounding Han River, and also the opportunity for a new story. Han River has lost most of its old self due to repeated exploitation. However, there are some areas where traces of the original form remains and that may be restored, and some areas may be relocated and restored based on existing paintings. Yeon-gang-jeong-sa-gi in particular may provide us with numerous possible options to reinvigorate and restructure the riverside with a more modern interpretation, especially in relation to the Han River cruise ship, as it is a book written after traveling Han River on a boat.

  • The purpose of this study is to construct the information of natural resources and the basic data for assessing the Korean natural environment by objective surveying and analysing vascular plants distributed in the main survey sites of Hannam-Jeongmaek. The vascular plants were summarized, numbering 488 taxa including 102 families, 300 genera, 428 species, 4 subspecies, 50 varieties and 6 forms. The rare plants were 4 taxa including Aristolochia contorta(LC), Viola albida(LC), Chionanthus retusus(LC) and Tylophora floribunda(VU). The Korean endemic plants were 7 taxa including Salix koriyanagi, Clematis brachyura, Clematis trichotoma, Philadelphus schrenckii, Paulownia coreana, Weigela subsessilis and Cirsium setidens. The specific plants by floristic region were 29 taxa including 1 taxa of grade IV, 3 taxa of grade III, 5 taxa of grade II and 20 taxa of grade I. The naturalized plants were 52 taxa including Fallopia dentatoalata, Rumex obtusifolius, Helianthustuberosus, Dactylis glomerata, Phleum pratense and so forth. The invasive alien plants were 7 taxa including Rumex acetosella, Sicyos angulatus, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Ambrosia trifida, Aster pilosus, Eupatorium rugosum and Lactuca scariola.

  • The Koreanology as well as a study of the classics should start from the correct understanding of certain words or concepts. Inaccurate or even misinterpreted explanation is bound to lead to failure. If you read a classic text, if the object does not come up to indicate clearly what the bar often. Bout, are seen refer to the translation or commentary, sometimes encounter cases of very serious misunderstanding. Besides, if the trend will spread to quote it, the situation is not out of control. One sample is "Nodongchwibyeong(老松翠屛)" in "Kyoungdojapji(京都雜誌)" "Poonsock(風俗)" "Jetaek(第宅). In some places, it is called "Booyeon(附椽), it has been described elsewhere as a kind of "chwibyeong(翠屛)". This short manuscript clarified by reviewing the old literature closely, it was "songcheom", "songboong(松棚), another expression of Bungga(棚架). More precisely, it was a nickname of Hanyang Yangban in the 18th and 19th century. However, the historical research is just not as having a meaning only one explanation for the particular word. Dare to be confident that these study are meaningful. In the extremely weak division in the understanding of the original text, the cases of applying blindly without a reflection occurs frequently. This short manuscript is to give warning to recent trends. Humanities and classical field researchers made very carefully, taking into account the impact of translation and annotations, and the other branch to accommodate the research of classical humanities disciplines should try to see this information must be verified meets the facts.
