Recombination events complicate the evolutionary history of populations and species and have a significant impact on the inference of isolation-with-migration (IM) models. However, several existing methods have been developed, assuming no recombination within a locus and free recombination between loci. In this study, we investigated the effect of recombination on the estimation of IM models using genomic data. We conducted a simulation study to evaluate the consistency of the parameter estimators with up to 1,000 loci and analyze true gene trees to examine the sources of errors in estimating the IM model parameters. The results showed that the presence of recombination led to biased estimates of the IM model parameters, with population sizes being more overestimated and migration rates being more underestimated as the number of loci increased. The magnitude of the biases tended to increase with the recombination rates when using 100 or more loci. On the other hand, the estimation of splitting times remained consistent as the number of loci increased. In the absence of recombination, the estimators of the IM model parameters remained consistent.
This study proposed a face region detection algorithm using fuzzy inference of pixel hue and intensity. The proposed algorithm is composed of light compensate and face detection. The light compensation process performs calibration for the change of light. The face detection process evaluates similarity by generating membership functions using as feature parameters hue and intensity calculated from 20 skin color models. From the extracted face region candidate, the eyes were detected with element C of color model CMY, and the mouth was detected with element Q of color model YIQ, the face region was detected based on the knowledge of an ordinary face. The result of experiment are conducted with frontal face color images of face as input images, the method detected the face region regardless of the position and size of face images.

Accurate detection and classification of faults on transmission lines is vitally important. In this respect, many different types of faults occur, such as inter alia low impedance faults (LIF) and high impedance faults (HIF). The latter in particular pose difficulties for the commonly employed conventional overcurrent and distance relays, and if undetected, can cause damage to expensive equipment, threaten life and cause fire hazards. Although HIFs are far less common than LIFs, it is imperative that any protection device should be able to satisfactorily deal with both HIFs and LIFs. Because of the randomness and asymmetric characteristics of HIFs, their modeling is difficult and numerous papers relating to various HIF models have been published. In this paper, the model of HIFs in transmission lines is accomplished using the characteristics of a ZnO arrester, which is then implemented within the overall transmission system model based on the electromagnetic transients program (EMTP). This paper proposes an algorithm for fault detection and classification for both LIFs and HIFs using Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The inputs into ANFIS are current signals only based on Root-Mean-Square (RMS) values of 3-phase currents and zero sequence current. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested on a typical 154 kV Korean transmission line system under various fault conditions. Test results demonstrate that the ANFIS can detect and classify faults including LIFs and HIFs accurately within half a cycle.

In this paper, we propose the structural design of Interval Type-2 FCM based RBFNN. Proposed model consists of three modules such as condition, conclusion and inference parts. In the condition part, Interval Type-2 FCM clustering which is extended from FCM clustering is used. In the conclusion part, the parameter coefficients of the consequence part are estimated through LSE(Least Square Estimation) and WLSE(Weighted Least Square Estimation). In the inference part, final model outputs are acquired by fuzzy inference method from linear combination of both polynomial and activation level obtained through Interval Type-2 FCM and acquired activation level through Interval Type-2 FCM. Additionally, The several parameters for the proposed model are identified by using differential evolution. Final model outputs obtained through benchmark data are shown and also compared with other already studied models' performance. The proposed algorithm is performed by using Iris and Vehicle data for pattern classification. For the validation of regression problem modeling performance, modeling experiments are carried out by using MPG and Boston Housing data.
We propose the VS3-NET model to solve the task of question answering questions with machine-reading comprehension that searches for an appropriate answer in a given context. VS3-NET is a model that trains latent variables for each question using variational inferences based on a model of a simple recurrent unit-based sentences and self-matching networks. The types of questions vary, and the answers depend on the type of question. To perform efficient inference and learning, we introduce neural question-type models to approximate the prior and posterior distributions of the latent variables, and we use these approximated distributions to optimize a reparameterized variational lower bound. The context given in machine-reading comprehension usually comprises several sentences, leading to performance degradation caused by context length. Therefore, we model a hierarchical structure using sentence encoding, in which as the context becomes longer, the performance degrades. Experimental results show that the proposed VS3-NET model has an exact-match score of 76.8% and an F1 score of 84.5% on the SQuAD test set.

Different parameters potentially affect the properties of corroded reinforced concrete beams. However, the high number of these parameters and their dependence cause that the effectiveness of the parameters could not be simply identified. In this study, an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) was employed to determine the most influencing parameters on the properties of the corrosion-damaged reinforced concrete beams. 207 ANFIS models were developed to analyze the collected data from 107 reinforced concrete (RC) beams. The impact of 23 input parameters on nine output factors was investigated. The results of the paper showed the order of influence of each input parameter on the outputs and revealed that the input parameters regarding the uncorroded properties of concrete beams are the most influencing factors on the corresponding corroded properties of the beams.

This paper is studied for the recognition of occluded objects by fuzzy inference. The images are transformed a group of linear line segments, which is formed local features extracted from curvature points, using polygonal approximation. The features extracted from images are representes to the fuzzified data which is mapped into fuzzy concepts to represent the fuzziness, and the recognition of a model from scenes is performed by fuzzy inference using the production rulse which is generated from the model image. It is considered that the recognition results according to the change of degree of fuzziness in the experiments, and the experimental results for 30 scenes contained 120 models is obtained 92.5% of recognition rate.

This paper provides a process for developing deep learning-based aerial object detection models that can run in realtime on onboard. To improve object detection performance, we pre-process and augment the training data in the training stage. In addition, we perform transfer learning and apply a weighted cross-entropy method to reduce the variations of detection performance for each class. To improve the inference speed, we have generated inference acceleration engines with quantization. Then, we analyze the real-time performance and detection performance on custom aerial image dataset to verify generalization.

Nickel base Alloy X-750, which is used as fastener parts in light-water reactor (LWR), has experienced many failures by environmentally assisted cracking (EAC). In order to improve the reliability of passive components for nuclear power plants (NPP's), it is necessary to study the failure mechanism and to predict crack growth behavior by developing a probabilistic failure model. In this study, The Bayesian inference was employed to reduce the uncertainties contained in EAC modeling parameters that have been established from experiments with Alloy X-750. Corrosion fatigue crack growth rate model (FCGR) was developed by fitting into Paris' Law of measured data from the several fatigue tests conducted either in constant load or constant ΔK mode. These parameters characterizing the corrosion fatigue crack growth behavior of X-750 were successfully updated to reduce the uncertainty in the model by using the Bayesian inference method. It is demonstrated that probabilistic failure models for passive components can be developed by updating a laboratory model with field-inspection data, when crack growth rates (CGRs) are low and multiple inspections can be made prior to the component failure.

Recently, much research have been done on ubiquitous computing models in advanced countries as well as in Korea. Ubiquitous computing is defined as a computing environment that isn't bounded by time and space. Different kinds of computers are embedded in artifacts, devices, and environment, thus people can be connected everywhere and every time. To recognize user's emotion, facial expression, temperature, humidity, weather, and lightning factors are used for building ontology. Ontology Web Language (OWL) is adopted to implement ontology and Jena is used as an emotional inference engine. The context-awareness service infrastructure suggested in this research can be divided into several modules by their functions.
