  • 메탄가스를 반응가스로 하여 플라즈마 화학증착법으로 Diamondlike Carbon(DLC)박막 제작시 박막의 광학적 특성에 미치는 수소가스의 영향을 조사하였다. 수소가스를 보조가스로 사용하는 경우는 불활성가스인 아르곤이나 헬륭의 경우와는 달리 인가전력의 변화에 따라 수소가스의 역할이 다르게 나타났다. Optical band gap의 변화와 FT-IR 분석결과로부터 수소가스에 의한 C-H 결합의 화학적인 에칭과 스퍼터링 및 수소의 박막 내로의 주입 가능성을 예측하고 이를 아르곤과 헬륨을 보조가스로 사용한 경우와 비교하여 그 타당성을 확인하였다.

  • Among the recent environmental pollution, indoor air pollution has an adverse effect on the health of indoor residents. Radon, one of the causes of indoor air pollution, is released from concrete, gypsum board and asbestos slate among building materials. Radon is a primary carcinogen and is a colorless, tasteless, odorless inert gas that adheres to airborne dust and enters the body through breathing. At this time, there is a risk of developing cancer if the alpha rays from the lononggas entering the human body destroys the lung tissue and is continuously exposed to a high concentration of lonon gas. The World Health Organization (WHO) has emphasized the reduction of radon and its exposure to radon by classifying it as a first-level carcinogen, but many people have not recognized it yet, and the research is underdeveloped. Therefore, this study was carried out to investigate the properties of adsorbed coconut radon to prevent the inflow of radon gas, which is an air pollution source of indoor air, and to prevent inflow into the human body.

이성분계 가스계소화약제 소화성능의 컵버너실험 및 이론적 고찰 (Fire Extinguishing Ability of Binary Gaseous Extinguishing Agents Evaluated by Cup Burner and Numerical Studies)

  • 할론 1301과 같은 바람직한 물성을 갖고 있는 새로운 소화약제를 찾고자 하는 노력은 아직까지 이렇다 할 성공을 거두지 못했다. 대체 가스계 소화약제 개발을 위한 하나의 접근방법으로 최근 주목을 받고 있는 이성분계 복합가스계소화약제를 연구하기 위해서는 불활성기체에 기존 가스계소화약제를 혼합하여 여러 조성에 대해 소화농도를 결정해야 하는데 이러한 과정은 많은 비용과 시간을 필요로 한다. 본 연구에서는 질소를 기본으로 HFC 125와 HFC 227ea를 각각 혼합하여 혼합물의 소화약제의 농도를 농도비를 달리하며 컵버너 방법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 복합소화약제의 각각의 소화농도는 HFC 가스계소화약제의 농도가 증가함에 따라 모두 낮아지는(즉 소화력이 향상되는) 경향을 보였는데, 이론적으로 계산된 값과의 일치도도 높았으며, 소화효과 측면에서 질소와의 상승효과를 나타내었다. 본 연구에서 검증된 이성부계 소화약제의 물리 화학적 소화효과의 모델링을 통해 소화농도를 추정하는 방식은 이성분계 복합가스계 소화약제의 전체 성능예측에 필요한 실험 횟수를 줄이는데 도움이 될 것이다.

  • This study was on basic step to develop a good clean extinguishing agent. In order to get a satisfactory result, we tested fire extinguishing ability using Novec which is inert gas. In study used to Cup Burner Test its made by international standard ISO-14520 regulations of gaseous extinguishing agent ability test. The finding is that a new clean agent, Novec has a very efficient extinguishing ability in a state of gas.

가변열전도성능 히트파이프(VCHP)의 온도제어 성능에 관한 실험 (An Experimental Study on the Temperature-Control Performance of a Variable Conductance Heat Pipe)

  • A VCHP was fabricated and tested for its thermal performance. The container was made of copper, and the working fluid was water. STS-316 screen of mesh number 100 was inserted as a capillary structure. As a baseline performance, a normal heat pipe of the same dimensions was tested in advance to compare with VCHP, where an inert gas container was attached. The outer diameter of the heat pipe was 12.8 mm and the total length was 600 mm. The evaporator and the condenser lengths were both 200 mm. The thermal load ranged from 20 to 300W. Typical result revealed that the operating temperature of the VCHP stayed almost constant, while that of the normal heat pipe varied as much as 40$^{\circ}C$. Therefore, it was demonstrated that the VCHP is very effective for temperature control of heat-dissipating devices.

SUPERLUBRICITY IN CARBON FILMS

  • This paper describes a new carbon film that afford superlubricity (i.e, friction coefficients of 0.001- 0.005) and superlow wear rates (i.e., $10^{-11}-10^{-10}mm^3/N.m$) to sliding metallic and ceramic surfaces, when tested in inert test environments. The wear life of these films are more than 1000 km even under very high contact pressures (i.e., 1-3 GPa) and at a wide range of sliding velocities (i.e., 0.1 to 2 m/s). They are produced in a plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition system at room temperature using highly hydrogenated gas discharge plasmas. Extensive research has shown that films grown in highly hydrogenated gas discharge plasmas (i.e., hydrogen-to-carbon ratio of 6 and above) provide superlow friction and wear coefficients. In full paper, specific conditions under which superlubricity can be achieved in carbon films will be discussed.and a mechanistic model will be proposed to explain the superlubricity of new carbon films.

  • The preparation of AlN powder by SHS in the system of $Al-AlN-NH_4Cl$ was investigated in this study. In the preparation of AlN powder, the effect of gas pressure and the composition such as Al, AlF, and additive in mixture on the reactivity were investigated. At 60 atm of the initial inert gas pressure in reactor, the optimum composition for the preparation of pure AlN was 35 wt%Al+5 wt% $NH_4Cl+60wt%$AlN. The AlN powder synthesized in this condition was a single phase AlN with a whisker morphology.

예열공기온도와 희석비율에 따른 동축 확산 화염의 연소 특성 (Combustion characteristics of coaxial diffusion flame with preheated air temperature and dilution level)

  • An experiment using preheated air in the coaxial diffusion flame burner was carried out in order to decrease NOx emission and improve the thermal efficiency. Preheated air combustion generally produces high NOx emissions but it was known very well to reduce NOx emission by diluting the combustion air with inert gas in preheated air combustion. In our study, $N_2$ gas was used for diluent and propane was utilized for fuel. We set the combustion air temperature on 300K, 500K, 700K, 900K and dilution level from 21% to 10% in terms of oxygen concentration. NOx emission increased along increment of combustion air temperature and decreased along increment of dilution level(lowering of oxygen concentration in combustion air). Flame-off limit with dilution level enhanced, flame length became longer and the location of maximum flame temperature became lower with increasing of combustion air temperature.

  • We present a numerical investigation on gaseous (ethylene-air mixture) detonation in the elastoplastical metal tubes to understand the wall effects associated with the developing detonation instability. The acoustic disturbances originating from the rapidly expanding tube walls reach the detonating flame surface, thereby causing flame distortions and total energy losses. The compressible Navier-Stokes equations with equation of state for gas and elasto-plastic deformation field equations for inert tubes are solved simultaneously to understand the complex multi-material interaction in the rapidly expanding gas pipe. In order to track governing variables across the material interface, we use the hybrid particle level-set and ghost fluid methods to precisely estimate the interfacial quantities. Features observed from the deforming (thin) tube show substantially different behavior when a detonation propagates in the rigid (thick) tube with no acoustically responding wall conditions.

  • In this study, flat fluorescent lamps (FFLs) having surface discharge structures was fabricated by screen printing technique and were studied using spectraradiometer and square pulse power supply. Two types of FFLs having different shapes of electrodes (crosstype and line-type structure) were compared with variation of discharge shape and mixed gas ratio.
