  • This paper suggests an auto-tuning I'll) control algorithm that uses the advantage of PID controller and improves the system performance. The PID gains being designed by th- conventional method are tuned through the plant parameter estimation. The Extended Kalman Filter is used for the estimation. It works as an observer and noise filter. Moreover, as the plant state and the uncertain parameter could be estimated simultaneously, the proposed algorithm is very useful in the tracking control of a system with uncertain parameter. The auto-tuning I'll) controller could maintain the system performance in the case that the plant parameters are uncertain or varying. The proposed control algorithm requires a correct estimation of the plant parameter. The controller stability and the performance is considered through the stability criteria and a servo motor model. The Kalman filter estimates the most sensitive plant parameter, which is determined by the sensitivity analysis.

Improved Kalman filter with unknown inputs based on data fusion of partial acceleration and displacement measurements

  • The classical Kalman filter (KF) provides a practical and efficient state estimation approach for structural identification and vibration control. However, the classical KF approach is applicable only when external inputs are assumed known. Over the years, some approaches based on Kalman filter with unknown inputs (KF-UI) have been presented. However, these approaches based solely on acceleration measurements are inherently unstable which leads poor tracking and so-called drifts in the estimated unknown inputs and structural displacement in the presence of measurement noises. Either on-line regularization schemes or post signal processing is required to treat the drifts in the identification results, which prohibits the real-time identification of joint structural state and unknown inputs. In this paper, it is aimed to extend the classical KF approach to circumvent the above limitation for real time joint estimation of structural states and the unknown inputs. Based on the scheme of the classical KF, analytical recursive solutions of an improved Kalman filter with unknown excitations (KF-UI) are derived and presented. Moreover, data fusion of partially measured displacement and acceleration responses is used to prevent in real time the so-called drifts in the estimated structural state vector and unknown external inputs. The effectiveness and performance of the proposed approach are demonstrated by some numerical examples.

  • The classical Kalman filter (KF) can provide effective state estimation for structural identification and vibration control, but it is applicable only when external inputs are measured. So far, some studies of Kalman filter with unknown inputs (KF-UI) have been proposed. However, previous KF-UI approaches based solely on acceleration measurements are inherently unstable which leads to poor tracking and fictitious drifts in the identified structural displacements and unknown inputs in the presence of measurement noises. Moreover, it is necessary to have the measurements of acceleration responses at the locations where unknown inputs applied, i.e., with collocated acceleration measurements in these approaches. In this paper, it aims to extend the classical KF approach to circumvent the above limitations for general real time estimation of structural state and unknown inputs without using collocated acceleration measurements. Based on the scheme of the classical KF, an improved Kalman filter with unknown excitations (KF-UI) and without collocated acceleration measurements is derived. Then, data fusion of acceleration and displacement or strain measurements is used to prevent the drifts in the identified structural state and unknown inputs in real time. Such algorithm is not available in the literature. Some numerical examples are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Modified RHKF Filter for Improved DR/GPS Navigation against Uncertain Model Dynamics

  • In this paper, an error compensation technique for a dead reckoning (DR) system using a magnetic compass module is proposed. The magnetic compass-based azimuth may include a bias that varies with location due to the surrounding magnetic sources. In this paper, the DR system is integrated with a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver using a finite impulse response (FIR) filter to reduce errors. This filter can estimate the varying bias more effectively than the conventional Kalman filter, which has an infinite impulse response structure. Moreover, the conventional receding horizon Kalman FIR (RHKF) filter is modified for application in nonlinear systems and to compensate the drawbacks of the RHKF filter. The modified RHKF filter is a novel RHKF filter scheme for nonlinear dynamics. The inverse covariance form of the linearized Kalman filter is combined with a receding horizon FIR strategy. This filter is then combined with an extended Kalman filter to enhance the convergence characteristics of the FIR filter. Also, the receding interval is extended to reduce the computational burden. The performance of the proposed DR/GPS integrated system using the modified RHKF filter is evaluated through simulation.

다중경로 환경에서 형상필터를 이용한 CDGPS 성능 향상 기법 (Improving the Performance of CDGPS using the Shaping Filter on Multipath)

  • The quality of float solution deeply influences the performance of CDGPS because the theories being used in the integer ambiguity resolution method are derived under the assumption of AWGN. But in real world, the properties of noises are far from AWGN, especially when multipath are concerned. It results in the bias in float solution which affects the success rate of integer ambiguity and the precision of position in CDGPS. This paper designs an augmented Kalman filter using shaping filter and Kalman filter for the performance improvement of CDGPS on multipath. The experimental results with real measurements show that the correct integer ambiguity is always found while the success rates of WLSQ and ordinary Kalman filter are 5% and 18%, respectively. Eventually, the position accuracy is also improved by using the proposed algorithm.

개선된 Chebyshev 함수와 DDA를 이용한 연속시간 필터 설계 (Design of a Continuous-Time Filter Using the Modified Chebyshev Function and DDA)

  • In this paper, a modified Chebyshev low-pass filter function is proposed. The modified Chebyshev filter function exhibits ripples diminishing toward .omega. = 0 in the passband. So, the modified filter function is realizable in the passive doubly-terminated ladder network for the order n even or odd, thus lending itself amenable to active RC or switched capacitor filters through the simulation techniques. Besides the passive doubly-terminated ladder realizability, lower pole-Q values of the modified function are accountable for improved phase and delay characteristics, as compared to classical function. We have designed the 6th order passive doubly-terminated network using the modified function. And then a continuous-time DDA(Differential Difference Amplifier) filter, which has no matching requirement, is realized by leap-frog simulation technique for fabrication. In the HSPICE simulation results, we confirmed that the designed continuous-time DDA filter characteristics are agreement with the passive filter.

Optimal filter materials for protist quantification via droplet digital PCR

  • The use of droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) has greatly improved the quantification of harmful protists, outperforming traditional methods like quantitative PCR. Notably, ddPCR provides enhanced consistency and reproducibility at it resists PCR inhibitors commonly found in environmental DNA samples. This study aimed to determine the most effective filter material for ddPCR protocols by assessing the reproducibility of species-specific gene copy numbers and filtration time across six filter types: cellulose acetate (CA), mixed cellulose ester (MCE), nylon (NY), polycarbonate (PC), polyethersulfone (PES), and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The study used two species of Chattonella marina complexes as a case study. Filtration rates were slower for NY, PC, and PVDF filters. Moreover, MCE, NY, PES, and PVDF yielded lower DNA amounts than other filters. Importantly, the CA filter exhibited the lowest variance (38-39%) and the highest determination coefficients (R2 = 0.92-0.96), indicating superior performance. These findings suggest that the CA filter is the most suitable for ddPCR quantification of marine protists, offering quick filtration and reliable reproducibility.

Single-Phase Improved Auxiliary Resonant Snubber Inverter that Reduces the Auxiliary Current and THD

  • An LC filter is required to reduce the output current ripple in the auxiliary resonant snubber inverter (ARSI) for high-performance applications. However, if the traditional control method is used in the ARSI with LC filter, then unnecessary current flows in the auxiliary circuit. In addressing this problem, a novel load-adaptive control that fully uses the filter inductor current ripple to realize the soft-switching of the main switches is proposed. Compared with the traditional control implemented in the ARSI with LC filter, the proposed control can reduce the required auxiliary current, contributing to higher efficiency and DC-link voltage utilization. In this study, the detailed circuit operation in the light load mode (LLM) and the heavy load mode (HLM) considering the inductor current ripple is described. The characteristics of the improved ARSI are expressed mathematically. A prototype with 200 kHz switching frequency, 80 V DC voltage, and 8 A maximum output current was developed to verify the effectiveness of the improved ARSI. The proposed ARSI was found to successfully operate in the LLM and HLM, achieving zero-voltage switching (ZVS) of the main switches and zero-current switching (ZCS) of the auxiliary switches from zero load to full load. The DC-link voltage utilization of the proposed control is 0.758, which is 0.022 higher than that of the traditional control. The peak efficiency is 91.75% at 8 A output current for the proposed control, higher than 89.73% for the traditional control. Meanwhile, the carrier harmonics is reduced from -44 dB to -66 dB through the addition of the LC filter.

항공기용 탐조등 적외선 투과 유리의 열응력 파손 현상 개선 연구 (The Study on Improvement of Thermal Stress Breakage in Infrared Transmissive Glass for Aircraft Searchlight)

  • 항공기용 탐조등은 야간 임무 수행 시 탐색 또는 구조 임무에 사용되며, 은폐 상태를 유지하며 작전을 수행할 수 있도록 적외선 광을 제공한다. A기종 회전익 항공기 운용 중에, 적외선 생성을 위한 적외선 투과 필터 유리가 파손되는 현상이 다수 발생하였으며, 이로 인해 은폐능력이 상실되고 정비 소요가 발생하는 등의 문제점이 제기되었다. 본 논문에서는 해당 결함이 발생하는 탐조등의 운용 조건을 시험하고, 그에 따른 결함 원인을 도출한 과정을 기술하였다. 그리고 도출된 원인을 개선하기 위한 여러 가지 방안과 개선 필터 시제품 제작 과정을 정리하였다. 또한 개선된 필터가 장착된 탐조등에 대해 성능시험, 내구성 시험, 항공기 장착시험을 통해 탐조등의 규격에서 제시하는 성능 요구를 만족하는지 검증한 결과를 기술하였다. 시험 및 검증 결과 필터의 파손 현상이 개선되었으며, A 기종 항공기에 개선 필터를 적용한 결과 파손 현상이 더 이상 발생하지 않는 것을 확인하였다.

개선된 산조 가야금의 물리적 모델링을 이용한 오른손 주법의 음 합성 (Sound Synthesis of Right-Hand Playing Styles Using Improved Physical Modeling of Sanjo Gayageum)

  • 본 논문에서는 기존의 산조 가야금의 물리적 모델링을 개선하여 오른손 주법에 따른 음을 합성하였다. 가야금 현의 모델에 사용된 루프 필터의 파라미터를 녹음된 단위음의 감쇠 영역으로부터 추정하여 정확도를 향상시키고 계산량을 줄였다. 몸통은 임펄스 응답으로부터 주 공명 주파수를 추출하여 설계한 공명기로 대체되었으며, 주 공명 주파수가 제거 된 임펄스 응답은 크기가 줄어든 여기신호로 사용되었다 안족의 주파수 응답은 15차 all-pole 필터로 근사화 하였다. 가야금의 오른손 연주법 중 연퉁기기는 피드포워드 콤 필터로 구현하였으며 필터의 파라미터는 녹음된 단위음으로부터 추출하였다. 개선된 산조 가야금의 물리적 모델을 이용한 뜯기와 퉁기기, 연퉁기기의 합성음은 원래 음과 매우 유사하였다.
