The purpose of this study is to develope prototype EPID system and improve image quality of radiation therapy field imaging system using CCD camera. For this research we used Linac(Clinac 4/100), Copper metal plate, $Gd_2O_2S_2$ phosphor and CCD camera(Photronic). In this study we find best thickness of buil-up metal plate and acquired projection image of humanoid head phantom. Also we enhanced raw image data using superposition and histogram stretching method. Through the thickness optimized of metal plate and image processing, we confirmed of an improved image quality of an EPID system using CCD camera. As result, highest quality image was acquired at 1mm thickness of Copper metal plate and improved image quality by image processing methods.

Objective: To evaluate the effects of tube voltage on image quality in coronary CT angiography (CCTA), the estimated radiation dose, and DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in peripheral blood lymphocytes to optimize the use of CCTA in the era of low radiation doses. Materials and Methods: This study included 240 patients who were divided into 2 groups according to the DNA DSB analysis methods, i.e., immunofluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. Each group was subdivided into 4 subgroups: those receiving CCTA only with different tube voltages of 120, 100, 80, or 70 kVp. Objective and subjective image quality was evaluated by analysis of variance. Radiation dosages were also recorded and compared. Results: There was no significant difference in demographic characteristics between the 2 groups and 4 subgroups in each group (all p > 0.05). As tube voltage decreased, both image quality and radiation dose decreased gradually and significantly. After CCTA, γ-H2AX foci and mean fluorescence intensity in the 120-, 100-, 80-, and 70-kVp groups increased by 0.14, 0.09, 0.07, and 0.06 foci per cell and 21.26, 9.13, 8.10, and 7.13 (all p < 0.05), respectively. The increase in the DNA DSB level in the 120-kVp group was higher than those in the other 3 groups (all p < 0.05), while there was no significant difference in the DSBs levels among these latter groups (all p > 0.05). Conclusion: The 100-kVp tube voltage may be optimal for CCTA when weighing DNA DSBs against the estimated radiation dose and image quality, with further reductions in tube voltage being unnecessary for CCTA.
The role of radiology department has been greatly increased in the past few years as the technology in the medical imaging devices improved and the introduction of PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) to the conventional film-based diagnostic structure is a truly remarkable factor to the medical history. In addition, the value of using digital information in medical imaging is highly expected to grow as the technology over the computer and the network improves. However, the current medical practice, using PACS is somewhat limited compared to the film-based conventional one due to a poor image quality. The image quality is the most important and inevitable factor in the PACS environment and it is one of the most necessary steps to more wide practice of digital imaging. The existing image quality control tools are limited in controlling images produced from the medical modalities, because they cannot display the real image changing status. Thus, the image quality is distorted and the ability to diagnosis becomes hindered compared to the one of the film-based practice. In addition, the workflow of the radiologist greatly increases; as every doctor has to perform his or her own image quality control every time they view images produced from the medical modalities. To resolve these kinds of problems and enhance current medical practice under the PACS environment, we have developed a program to display a better image quality by using the ROI optical density of the existing gray level values. When the LUT is used properly, small detailed regions, which cannot be seen by using the existing image quality controls are easily displayed and thus, greatly improves digital medical practice. The purpose of this study is to provide an easier medical practice to physicians, by applying the technology of converting the H-D curves of the analog film screen to the digital imaging technology and to preset image quality control values to each exposed body part, modality and group of physicians for a better and easier medical practice. We have asked to 5 well known professional physicians to compare image quality of the same set of exam by using the two different methods: existing image quality control and the LUT technology. As the result, the LUT technology was enormously favored over the existing image quality control method. All the physicians have pointed out the far more superiority of the LUT over the existing image quality control method and highly praised its ability to display small detailed regions, which cannot be displayed by existing image quality control tools. Two physicians expressed the necessity of presetting the LUT values for each exposed body part. Overall, the LUT technology yielded a great interest among the physicians and highly praised for its ability to overcome currently embedded problems of PACS. We strongly believe that the LUT technology can enhance the current medical practice and open a new beginning in the future medical imaging.
We examined the accuracy and efficiency of phantom by applying the designed phantom in order to check daily quality assurance easily by objective criteria and to confirm daily quality assurance of linear accelerator, simulator, and CT-simulator. The results of 10 weeks of linear accelerator output dose using American Association of Physicists in Medicine(AAPM) daily quality assurance guide were measured within ${\pm}1%$ of error. Mechanical check of laser alignment, optical distance indicator(ODI), CT scanner laser and alignment of gantry lasers with the center of imaging plane were measured within ${\pm}1mm$. Daily average working time for daily quality assurance of radiation therapy equipments was 38 minutes. The designed phantom was easy to install and daily quality assurance was possible with only one installation. The aspects reproducibility and efficiency as well as accuracy of quality assurance were excellent.
Terahertz (THz) represents the portion of the electromagnetic radiation between the microwave and the infrared region and is within the frequency range of 0.1-10 THz. The ability of THz waves to pass through a wide variety of packaging materials, combined with their ability to characterize the molecular structure of many substances makes it an attractive tool for the application of food quality and safety management. This review provides current information on application of THz spectroscopy/imaging technology for food quality and safety management. The THz spectroscopy/imaging technology has been shown to be useful for detecting foreign bodies, vitamin/moisture, pesticides, antibiotics, melamine etc. However, major barriers to the adoption of THz spectroscopy/imaging for food quality and safety management include THz signal loss in heterogeneous food matrices, high costs of sources and detectors, and absence of a library for the wide group of food compounds. Further research is needed to overcome these barriers.

In this paper, we present a computational volumetric reconstruction method for three-dimensional (3D) photon counting imaging with enhanced visual quality when low-resolution elemental images are used under photon-starved conditions. In conventional photon counting imaging with low-resolution elemental images, it may be difficult to estimate the 3D scene correctly because of a lack of scene information. In addition, the reconstructed 3D images may be blurred because volumetric computational reconstruction has an averaging effect. In contrast, with our method, the pixels of the elemental image rearrangement technique and a Bayesian approach are used as the reconstruction and estimation methods, respectively. Therefore, our method can enhance the visual quality and estimation accuracy of the reconstructed 3D images because it does not have an averaging effect and uses prior information about the 3D scene. To validate our technique, we performed optical experiments and demonstrated the reconstruction results.

Methods The paper puts emphasis on introducing and demonstrating Raman imaging techniques for practical uses in food analysis. Results & Conclusions: The main topics include Raman scattering principles, Raman spectroscopy measurement techniques (e.g., backscattering Raman spectroscopy, transmission Raman spectroscopy, and spatially offset Raman spectroscopy), Raman image acquisition methods (i.e., point-scan, line-scan, and area-scan methods), Raman imaging instruments (e.g., excitation sources, wavelength separation devices, detectors, imaging systems, and calibration methods), and Raman image processing and analysis techniques (e.g., fluorescence correction, mixture analysis, target identification, spatial mapping, and quantitative analysis). Raman chemical imaging applications for food safety and quality evaluation are also reviewed.
Segmented planar imaging detector for electro-optical reconnaissance (SPIDER) is an emerging technology for optical imaging. However, this novel detection approach is faced with degraded imaging quality. In this study, a 6 × 6 planar waveguide is used after each lenslet to expand the field of view. The imaging principles of field-plane waveguide structures are described in detail. The local multiple-sampling simulation mode is adopted to process the simulation of the improved imaging system. A novel image-reconstruction algorithm based on deep learning is proposed, which can effectively address the defects in imaging quality that arise during image reconstruction. The proposed algorithm is compared to a conventional algorithm to verify its better reconstruction results. The comparison of different scenarios confirms the suitability of the algorithm to the system in this paper.
