In this paper an improved morphological algorithm for directional defect detection is proposed, where the defect is parallel to the texture image. The algorithm is based on obtaining the background image while removing the defect by comparing every directional morphological result with max or min except that of defect. The defect can of defect and the background image. For a computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed method has better performance than the conventional algorithm.

Purpose: The patient's position and anatomy during the treatment course little bit varies to some extend due to setup uncertainties and organ motions. These factors could affected to not only the dose coverage of the gross tumor but over dosage of normal tissue. Setup uncertainties and organ motions can be minimized by precise patient positioning and rigid immobilization device but some anatomical site such as prostate, the internal organ motion due to physiological processes are challenge. In planning procedure, the clinical target volume is a little bit enlarged to create a planning target volume that accounts for setup uncertainties and organ motion as well. These uncertainties lead to differences between the calculated dose by treatment planning system and the actually delivered dose. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences of interfractional displacement of organ and GTV based on the tomoimages. Materials and Methods: Over the course of 3 months, 3 patients, those who has applied rectal balloon, treated for prostatic cancer patient's tomoimage were studied. During the treatment sessions 26 tomoimages per patient, Total 76 tomoimages were collected. Tomoimage had been taken everyday after initial setup with lead marker attached on the patient's skin center to comparing with C-T simulation images. Tomoimage was taken after rectal balloon inflated with 60 cc of air for prostate gland immobilization for daily treatment just before treatment and it was used routinely in each case. The intrarectal balloon was inserted to a depth of 6 cm from the anal verge. MVCT image was taken with 5 mm slice thickness after the intrarectal balloon in place and inflated. For this study, lead balls are used to guide the registration between the MVCT and CT simulation images. There are three image fusion methods in the tomotherapy, bone technique, bone/tissue technique, and full image technique. We used all this 3 methods to analysis the setup errors. Initially, image fusions were based on the visual alignment of lead ball, CT anatomy and CT simulation contours and then the radiation therapist registered the MVCT images with the CT simulation images based on the bone based, rectal balloon based and GTV based respectively and registered image was compared with each others. The average and standard deviation of each X, Y, Z and rotation from the initial planning center was calculated for each patient. The image fusions were based on the visual alignment of lead ball, CT anatomy and CT simulation contours. Results: There was a significant difference in the mean variations of the rectal balloon among the methods. Statistical results based on the bone fusion shows that maximum x-direction shift was 8 mm and 4.2 mm to the y-direction. It was statistically significant (P=<0.0001) in balloon based fusion, maximum X and Y shift was 6 mm, 16mm respectively. One patient's result was more than 16 mm shift and that was derived from the rectal expansions due to the bowl gas and stool. GTV based fusion results ranging from 2.7 to 6.6 mm to the x-direction and 4.3$\sim$7.8 mm to the y-direction respectively. We have checked rotational error in this study but there are no significant differences among fusion methods and the result was 0.37$\pm$0.36 in bone based fusion and 0.34$\pm$0.38 in GTV based fusion.
Here we propose an image quality assessment (IQA) based on histogram of oriented gradients (HOG). This method makes use of the characteristic that the histogram of gradient image describes the state of input image. In the proposed method, the image quality is derived by the slope of the HOG obtained from the target image. The line representing the HOG is measured by a random sample consensus (RANSAC) on the HOG. Simulation results based on the LIVE image quality assessment database suggest that the proposed method aligns better with how the human visual system perceives image quality than several state-of-the-art IQAs.

This paper describes the implementation of automatic number-braille converter based on image processing for the blind people. The algorithm is consists of four main steps. First step is binary image conversion of the input image obtained by the camera. the second step is segmentation operation by means of dilation and labelling of the character. Next step is calculation of cross-correlation between segmented text image and pre-defined text-pattern image. The final step is generation of brail output which is relevant to input image. The computer simulation result was showing 91.8% correct conversion rate for arabian numbers which is printed in A4-sheet and practical possibility was also confirmed by using implemented automatic number-braille converter based on DSP image processing board.

Noise reduction is an important issue in the field of image processing because image noise lowers the quality of the original pure image. The basic difficulty is that the noise and the signal are not easily distinguished. Simple smoothing is the most basic and important procedure to effectively remove the noise; however, the weakness is that the feature area is simultaneously blurred. In this research, we use ways to measure the degree of noise with respect to the degree of image features and propose a Bayesian noise reduction method based on MAP (maximum a posteriori). Simulation results show that the proposed adaptive noise reduction algorithm using Bayesian MAP provides good performance regardless of the level of noise variance.

From the 90's, the image information retrieval methods have been on progress. As good examples of the methods, Conventional histogram method and merged-color histogram method were introduced. Dey could get good result in image retrieval. However, Conventional histogram method has disadvantages if the histogram is shifted as a result of intensity change. Merged-color histogram, also, causes more process so, it needs more time to retrieve images. In this paper, we propose an improved new method using Adaptive Color Histogram(ACH) in image retrieval. The proposed method has been tested and verified through a number of simulations using hundreds of images in a database. The simulation results have quickly yielded the highly accurate candidate images in comparison to other retrieval methods. We show that ACH's can give superior results to color histograms for image retrieval.
As more and more digital images are made by various applications, image retrieval becomes a primary concern in technology of multimedia. This paper presents color based descriptor that uses information of color distribution in color images which is the most basic element for image search and performance of proposed visual feature is evaluated through the simulation. In designing the image search descriptor used color histogram, HSV, Daubechies 9/7 and 2 level wavelet decomposition provide better results than other parameters in terms of computational time and performances. Also histogram quadratic matrix outperforms the sum of absolute difference in similarity measurements, but spends more than 60 computational times.
A novel data hiding technique based on modified histogram shifting that incorporates multi-bit secret data hiding is proposed. The proposed technique divides the image pixel values into embeddable and nonembeddable pixel values. Embeddable pixel values are those that are within a specified limit interval surrounding the peak value of an image. The limit interval is calculated from the number of secret bits to be embedded into each embeddable pixel value. The embedded secret bits can be perfectly extracted from the stego image at the receiver side without any overhead bits. From the simulation, it is found that the proposed technique produces a better quality stego image compared to other data hiding techniques, for the same embedding rate. Since the proposed technique only embeds the secret bits in a limited number of pixel values, the change in the visual quality of the stego image is negligible when compared to other data hiding techniques.

In this paper, I propose a method which can enhance the visual quality of IRST images based on a loaded location in ship and an AOS. The IRST adjusts an AOS to detect targets with various altitudes because of its narrow vertical field of view and offers various functions to enhance images with its low contrast. In the proposed method, images are divided into two regions of sea and sky on the basis of the horizon after establishing relation between an AOS and a horizon location within an image. As a result, image enhancement of the proposed method is performed adaptively according to the divided region while that of conventional method is performed for entire image without the region division. Simulation results show that the proposed method represents higher visibility compared with conventional one.
