Inspection of electronic components using dual X-ray energy (이중 엑스선 에너지를 이용한 전자부품 검사)

  • X-ray can be applied to obtain a projection image of an object. It is not easy to obtain an high quality image for the object composed of low and high density materials. For the object with large difference in density, it is possible to realize high contrast image using images of low and high tube voltages and image processing. The plastic and metalic parts of the electronic components can be imaged by the dual energy technique which use low and high tube voltages and by processing pixel-by-pixel using visual C++. The contrast-enhanced image can be used to detect and observe defects within the electronic components.

Recognition Model of Road Signs Using Image Segmentation Algorithm (세그멘테이션 알고리즘을 사용한 도로 Sign 인식 모델)

  • Image recognition is an important research area of pattern recognition. This paper studies that the image segmentation algorithm theory and its application in road signs recognition system. In this paper We studied a systematic study for road signs and we have made the recognition algorithm. This paper is divided in image segmentation part and image recognition part for the road signs recognition. The experimental results show that the road signs recognition model can make effective use in smart phone system, and the model can be used in many other fields.

Face recognition using Wavelets and Fuzzy C-Means clustering (웨이블렛과 퍼지 C-Means 클러스터링을 이용한 얼굴 인식)

  • In this paper, the wavelet transform is performed in the input 256$\times$256 color image and decomposes a image into low-pass and high-pass components. Since the high-pass band contains the components of three directions, edges are detected by combining three parts. After finding the position of face using the histogram of the edge component, a face region in low-pass band is cut off. Since RGB color image is sensitively affected by luminances, the image of low pass component is normalized, and a facial region is detected using face color informations. As the wavelet transform decomposes the detected face region into three layer, the dimension of input image is reduced. In this paper, we use the 3000 images of 10 persons, and KL transform is applied in order to classify face vectors effectively. FCM(Fuzzy C-Means) algorithm classifies face vectors with similar features into the same cluster. In this case, the number of cluster is equal to that of person, and the mean vector of each cluster is used as a codebook. We verify the system performance of the proposed algorithm by the experiments. The recognition rates of learning images and testing image is computed using correlation coefficient and Euclidean distance.

  • The advancement of ubiquitous networks facilitates and increases access to the Internet via mobile devices, which offers the advantages of enhanced mobility and accessibility. While Mobile Internet is largely free of temporal and spatial restrictions, producing content for mobile websites is a challenging work due to the existence of multiple device types and markup languages. This paper proposes a technique that makes use of image maps to improve the visual consistency of mobile web content displayed on a variety of mobile devices. The proposed image map method captures several objects comprising the webpage into a single image, and provides the image in Mobile Web services. Mobile devices employing the proposed method can reorganize webpages with multiple objects more easily and obtain the visually identical content on their screen.

  • The seattered-ray have a bad effect to the image of x-ray film. Therefore, to obtain the better x-ray image, the most important point is to eliminate the scattered-ray, come from the patient, and the easiest method to eliminate the scattered-ray is to use a proper grid for tube voltages. Authors made an experiment on the scattered-ray contents and the image quality in skull radiography, and obtained the results as follows; 1. The scattered-ray content in skull radiography was 83%, but it could be reduced to 35%-50% by using grid. 2. The image contrast was most increased when the using grid ratio was 8:1. 3. The image quality was not influenced by the scattered-ray contents between 32% and 45%.

  • Such changes that the digital paradigm brought propels a change of the value system itself in the existing society so that a way of thinking that differentiates oneself from others is getting much stronger. As public interests are higher in the image production on the internet, such authoring environments as development of related technologies, expansibility of information, and systematization of available information continue to change. Therefore, a variety of unique image presentations that fit to the changed environments are necessary and an expression method is indispensable for such image production. It suggests digital image application methods and examples that contain not just simple image distortion or variation but intrinsic significance. It is believed that it will be of good use to produce a variety of unique and innate digital images in the end.

Image Reformation with a Personal Computer for Dental Implant Planning (치과 임플란트 계획시 개인용 컴퓨터를 이용한 영상재형성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was performed to demonstrate the method of image reformation for dental implants, using a personal computer with inexpensive softwares and to compare the images reformatted using the above method with those using Dentascan software. CT axial slices of 4 mandibles of 4 volunteers from GE Highspeed Advantage(GE Medical systems, U.S.A.) were used. personal computer used for image reformation was PowerWave 604/120 (Power computing Co, U.S.A. ) and softwares used were Osiris (Univ. Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland) and ImportACLESS Vl.1 (Designed Access Co., U.S.A.) for importing CT images and NIH image 1.58 (NIH, U.S.A.) for image processing. Seven image were selected among the serial reconstructed cross-sectional images produced by Dentascan. Seven resliced cross-sectional images at the same position were obtained at the personal computer. Regression analysis of the measurements of PC group was done against those of DS group. Measurements of the bone height and width at the reformer cross-sectional images using Mac-compatible computer was highly correlated with those using workstation with Dentascan software(height : r2= 0.999, p<0.001, width : r2= 0.993, p <0.001). So, it is considered that we can use a personal computer with inexpensive software for the dental implant planning, instead of the expensive software and workstation.

  • In recent years automatic image indexing and retrieval have been increasingly studied. However, content-based retrieval techniques for general images are still inadequate for many purposes. The novelty and originality of this thesis are the definition and use of a spatial information model as a contribution to the accuracy and efficiency of image search. In addition, the model is applied to represent color and shape image contents as a vector using the method of image features extraction, which was inspired by the previous work on the study of human visual perception. The indexing scheme using the color, shape and spatial model shows the potential of being applied with the well-developed algorithms of features extraction and image search, like ranking operations. To conclude, user can retrieved more similar images with high precision and fast speed using the proposed system.

  • It is desirable to use the square grid analysis with the aid of the stereo vision and image processing techniques in order to automatically measure the surface-strain distribution over a stamped part. But this method has some inherent problems such as the difficulty in enhancement of bad images, the measurement error due to the digital image resolution and the limit of the area that can be measured at a time. Therefore, it is still hard to measure the strain distribution over the entire surface of a medium-or large-sized stamped part even by using an automated strain measurement system. In this study, several methods which enable to solve these problems considerably without losing accuracy and precision In measurement are suggested. The superposition of images that have different high-lightened or damaged part from each other gives much enhanced image. A new algorithm for constructing of the element connectivity from the line-thinned image helps recognize up to 1,000 elements. And the geometry assembling algorithm including the global error minimization makes it possible to measure a large specimen with reliability and efficiency.
