Recently, the need for LBS (Location Based Services) is increasing with the rapid growth of the location measurement units, mobile devices, and communication technologies. Especially, wireless carriers are concentrating on LBS since it is regarded as so-called 'killer application' among wireless data services. Although LBS give us convenience and useful information, its use also raises privacy issues. There are quite possibilities that the people's locations are tracked by location measurement units while people do not recognize the existence of the units. To protect a person's location information, lawful and technical aspects should be considered. In this paper, we explain issues, regulations, standards, and platforms related to the protection of the location information. Finally, we suggest the architecture of a platform complying with the regulations and standards. It considers various issues not covered in other studies.

Terminal market has rapidly crashed and market rates have taken a sharp plunge. The substantial throughput decrease resulted from the world economic downturn has been a finishing blow to the terminal operators in Busan. Every terminal operator is taking cost saving as its first priority and accelerating structural reform and downsizing. Under the desperate situation, the need of effective cost analysis would be highly required to effectively control operation cost and to develop new services to satisfy the different needs of the customers. Furthermore, terminal operators could reduce unnecessary activities and concentrate their resource on the more cost-effective process through the operation cost analysis. In order to suggest a new framework of the cost control of container terminals, this paper seeks to analyze terminal costs based on ABC approach by processing actual data.

The clipping value, defined as the log-likelihood ratio (LLR) in the case wherein all the list of candidates have the same binary value, is investigated, and an effective method to estimate it is presented for iterative tree search detection. The basic principle behind the method is that the clipping value of a channel bit is equal to the LLR of the maximum probability of correct decision of the bit to the corresponding probability of erroneous decision. In conjunction with multilevel bit mappings, the clipping value can be calculated with the parameters of the number of transmit antennas, $N_t$; number of bits per constellation point, $M_c$; and variance of the channel noise, $\sigma^2$, per real dimension in the Rayleigh fading channel. Analyses and simulations show that the bit error performance of the proposed method is better than that of the conventional fixed-value method.

Through the close examination of characteristics of adolescent, social institutions and its programs, and newly added and expanded library reference services. it is founded that new role and qualifications of young adult reference librarians are prerequisite subject. The following are the summary of new role and qualifications of specialized young adult reference librarianship. 1. Adequate training and education for the YA librarians is needed in order to have understanding of their characteristics (physiology, psychology, personality etc.). 2. Because of librarian's unique exposure to human relations and their personal awareness of other people's need, YA librarian should bring a person-centered managerial technique. 3. Librarianship may not have a clinical counseling function but to provide right answer or information, the librarian become counselor inescapably. 4. Librarians are not professionally trained to be experts on counseling in sex education. However, librarians can play an important role in educating YA by committing book selection, reader's advisory, referral services, library programming and staff development planning.

Important network application services have been rapidly increased along with the growth of the Internet. So, it is desirable for such applications to serve transparently, continuously and safely even if the network is temporally disconnected or certain hosts running those services are crashed down. To satisfy such requirementes, many group communication systems have been developed; but, those systems restrict its range within a single LAN or directly interconnected LAN environments since the communication through the Internet is too slow and too unreliable to support group communication. As of now, it is expected the Internet is going to e sufficiently fast and reliable in the near communication system, named FACE(Java Advanced Communication Environment), supporting Extended Virtual which is a basic communication layer, RPGS(Reliable Process Group Service) which manages application process groups, and JACE API for developing Java application services and clients programs. In addition, an experimental replicated object space is developed as an application of the JACE system.

Recent trends place an emphasis on school health care, the ultimate goal of which is to protect, maintain, and promote students' health. School health care is a program that integrates health care services, health education, health counseling, and local social health services. The student health examination (SHE) system is a part of school health care and schools and communities must be available to provide professional health services. Pediatricians also have important roles as experts in both school health care and the SHE system. In this article, the history of school health care, its legal basis, and the current status of the SHE system in Korea are reviewed. Furthermore, sample surveys from the past few years are reviewed. Through this holistic approach, future directions are proposed for the improvement of SHE and school health care.

Multimedia services in the cloud have become a popular trend in the big data environment. However, how to efficiently schedule a large number of multimedia services in the cloud is still an open and challengeable problem. Current cloud-based scheduling algorithms exist the following problems: 1) the content of the multimedia is ignored, and 2) the cloud platform is a known parameter, which makes current solutions are difficult to utilize practically. To resolve the above issues completely, in this work, we propose a novel distributed multimedia scheduling to satisfy the objectives: 1) Develop a general cloud-based multimedia scheduling model which is able to apply to different multimedia applications and service platforms; 2) Design a distributed scheduling algorithm in which each user makes a decision based on its local information without knowing the others' information; 3) The computational complexity of the proposed scheduling algorithm is low and it is asymptotically optimal in any case. Numerous simulations have demonstrated that the proposed scheduling can work well in all the cloud service environments.

The workplace environment monitoring system based on IP-USN proposed in this study measures and analyzes workplace environment information so as to provide services to provide better work environment and prevent occupational accidents caused by poor, shabby labor environment. This study presents the procedures to design and develop a system that monitors noise, humidity, vibration, temperature, and sensors installed in the workplace and sounds alarm when workers enter dangerous areas or are exposed to hazards. The author actually installed the IP-USN workplace environment monitoring system in a small workplace and confirmed its effectiveness.

Cloud computing, which means a new way of deploying information technology(IT) in organizations as a service and charging per use, has a deep impact on organizations' IT accessibility, agility and efficiency of its usage. More than that, the emergence of cloud computing surpasses a mere technological innovation, making business model innovation possible. We call this innovation realized by could computing a cloud business model. This study develops a comprehensive framework of business model, first, and then defines and analyzes the cloud business model through this framework. This study also examines the case of M-Pesa mobile payment as a cloud business model in which a new value creation and profit realization schemes have been realized and industry value network has changed. Finally, this study discusses the business implications from this new business model.

This study reviews several innovative electronic reference services that will be transformed in the age of the virtual library. This study focused on reference service via E-mail and electronic bulletin board which is regarded as the most important service in a variety of electronic reference services. Through E-mail and the electronic bulletin board, the user submits questions and the librarian responds with the answer. Though interest in using E-mail and electronic bulletin board as a basis for reference service has grown considerably in recent years, it is still in its infancy in Korea. Thus the purpose of this study is to propose a model electronic reference service system using E-mail and the electronic bulletin board for university libraries in Korea. This system consists of the following modules: electronic reference services policy, open reference service via electronic bulletin board, closed reference service via E-mail, and FAQ. This system is meant to be a guide for those considering implementing such a service.
