The purpose of this paper is to present an Integrated Life Cycle Bridge Information Modeling that can be used throughout different phases of the bridge life cycle including: design, construction, and operation and maintenance phases. Bridge Information Modeling (BrIM) has become an effective tool in bridge engineering and construction. It has been used in obtaining accurate shop drawings, cost estimation, and visualization. In this paper, BrIM is used as an integrated tool for bridges life cycle information modeling. In the design phase, BrIM model can be used in obtaining optimum construction methods and performing structural advanced analysis. During construction phase, the model selects the appropriate locations for mobile cranes, monitors the status of precast components, and controls documents. Whereas, it acts as a tool for bridge management system in operation and maintenance phase. The paper provides a detailed description for each use of BrIM model in design, construction, and operation and maintenance phases of bridges. It is proven that BrIM is an effective tool for bridge management systems throughout their life phases.
Recently, the construction of U-City or of U-City service (U-service) in many kinds of urban development projects becomes the general trend. However, as the construction of U-city comes into the spotlight like the trend of the times, various service constructions are being indiscreetly implemented since it's processed focusing on local specialized projects or local landmark project by a local autonomous entity or an institute in charge being off the original purpose of the improvement of living quality of residents and the efficiency of urban management, which causes a number of problems on the process, maintenance, operation and management of those projects. Therefore, this study is to derive the standard pattern of U-service construction through the analysis of patterns and numbers of U-service and problems during the process of construction in domestic U-City construction case district, and is aimed to suggest the reasonable direction of service construction based on this. 11 projects areas in which data related to U-service are available among U-City construction project areas were selected for the subjects of this study, and it's standardized with 228 detailed unit services that were suggested by U-Eco City R&D and with 11 service domains that are regulated in "the Act of ubiquitous city construction etc.", and it is limited to services that were suggested in U-City case area of which design was completed by July, 2010 based on this. The actual state of various U-service construction is analyzed through case studies as well as reviews on the legal and theoretical concept and the method of pattern classification of U-service, the plan for the standardization (pattern classification) of U-service and the plan for the construction body of service and to share the costs are suggested as the plan to construct reasonable U-service based on this for the method and the procedure of this study For the method to construct U-service, the plan to classify the pattern of U-service into the basic service and additional service is suggested, and whether it has the publicity, whether urban infrastructure is included, whether utilities are included, the body of realization, the recipients, the urgency, the importance and the spreading, etc. are suggested for the index to determine the pattern of service. The method to get the executor of a project to construct the basic service, the method to get the executor of a project to construct the most basic service among the group classification of service and to get a private entity and a local autonomous entity to perform additional service in the future, and the method to construct the whole service and to distribute the construction costs were suggested, and the first one that determines the body of construction after dividing U-service into the basic service and the additional service was evaluated to be the most reasonable one. And the plan to solve the problem that the excessive construction costs of U-service are shifted onto the executor of a project through benefit principle, balanced distribution principle and consultation and mediation between the interested parties was suggested for the criteria to share the costs.

Construction project has various effective factor and many producer in multifarious process of the work. Thus it has many variation. However, Process management up to now is management method of conclusion oriented. So, it do not consider sequency and variation occurrence. In a result that a lot of problems happen. Lean Construction can solve limit of the present management method. And Lean Construction is estimated new management method of process management for reliance on process plan, safety of process and promotion of effectiveness. This study analysed application of real construction project in Lean Construction theory and examined to utilize VSM and TACT for field application.
Because PBD was started as a design tool for steel construction and concrete construction, it was able to applied to the post and beam method of wooden building constructions. But, it may not suitable to light frame wooden construction that is becoming popular in domestic construction market due to the economical efficiency and the constructive simplification. Owing to the share effects between member and sheathing material or among structural members, light frame wooden construction is different from post and beam construction that use a single structural member. Therefore, consideration on the system analysis and system design are urgently needed to use in actual life and inspect the reliability of structures from the system view. With this in mind, code conversion from ASD to PBD that is pressing issue in domestic wooden building construction was studied, also various countries status about PBD were considered and then approaching methods on the system reliability were referred. Finally, several considerations for the development of PBD were explored. PBD should be considered as, not only a new structural design process that select sizes of structural member, but a industrial tool that can lead a development of more reliable wood products. A strongest point of PBD is independent of various construction materials and construction types.

As a knowledge-based economy is emerging, knowledge management (KM) is being rapidly disseminated in both academic circles and the business world. Accordingly, how to effectively manage knowledge is vital to the survival and advance of a company, particularly in project-based industries such as construction. For these reasons, construction companies have adopted IT-based Knowledge management systems (KMS), which is the technology platform and infrastructure that an organization employs to support knowledge management. However, many construction companies have spent resources on developing a KMS that only focus on codification. Furthermore, small and medium-sized companies have limited resources to afford extensive investments. This research addresses the problems found in the current KMS and develops a web-based construction knowledge management portal (CKMP). To achieve these objectives, a case study is conducted and requirements for implementing KM are identified. Based on the identified requirements, this paper builds CKMP using Expert Index (EI), blog, ontology based knowledge retrieval, and wikiblog. The most important functionality of CKMP is their fundamentals to synchronize and support KM process. In order to validate the CKMP, a pilot test with actual users is conducted, and the usability of the system is compared with the current systems. This study is relevant to both the construction industry and academia, as it provides a means of enhancing the performance of KM.

Resource procurement and material handling are considered as a significant part of construction project especially in large or tall building construction site. There are multiple variables that must be considered in a construction site during finishing work such as movement of materials, equipments, and workers. Therefore, it is difficult for construction workers to find the material handling path solely by intuition. The aim of this study is to propose a real-time path finding model suitable for complicated logistics flow in the field. The model explores the optimal transport path of finishing material with its basis on optimization algorithm, and it determines the direction of the Smart Sign. The proposed model is expected to be utilized for planning of efficient finishing material handling.

In tall building construction, the equipment operation plans have an effect on productivity. Equipment, used in tall building construction, has operating plans of each it and restrictively operate owing to the first placed equipment operation. Therefore the interference of equipment was occur frequently. As it, the productivity is less effective and the construction delay occurs. This research was analysis the interference elements between the equipment for constructing the efficient equipment associated operational processes. The interference elements between the equipment derive through expert advice and analysis using IPA. Through the IPA, this research deducted the interference elements located 'Concentrate Here' which is the highest importance and the lowest performance.

As the definition of the vendor-oriented implementation method, which was utilized in adopting an ERP system, has been centered around the project construction business, it was difficult for the EPR adopting organization to systematically prepare ERP projects and have enough deliberative opportunities to change-related policies. Furthermore, this method does not have a fully standardized construction process. Accordingly, by defining an organization that wants to adopt an ERP system as a customer, this paper develops the customer-based ERP construction process framework that assists both customers and developers who construct the system. For this purpose, this paper reviews the previous research and collects the construction processes of the commercial ERP SW vendor and ERP construction cases while proposing the three-layer process framework to construct ERP through the KJ method. The ERP process framework consists of 7 processes, 32 activities, 141 tasks while providing definitions for concepts of each component. Furthermore, the proposed processes and phases were set in order of the recommended execution, while the activities were suggested as an open-ended type so that the application and usability can be increased and polished by reflecting experts' opinions. The contribution of this study is to standardize the ERP project process by transforming the previous supplier-based ERP construction method into the customer-based one while providing important procedure and activity frameworks that apply to diverse ERP solutions per vendor. At the same time, this study provides an theoretical foundation to develop the construction process for the customer -based Cloud ERP. In practice, At the beginning of the ERP system construction project, it provides communication or process tailoring tools for the stakeholder.

The purpose of this study is to forecast future changes in the construction market following the reorganization of the construction production system by analyzing the possible market size in which general contractors and specialty contractors may participate in each other, and by carrying out a survey. The ratio of correlation between general construction and specialty construction industries was derived by analyzing the relevance of work area of general contractors and specialty contractors, the similarity of registration standards, and the market in which general contractors and specialty contractors may be able to mutually participate. In order to overcome the limitation of previous studies which analyze the changes in construction market based on the statistical data, and to analyze in more detail the impact of reorganization of construction production system from market participants' view, a survey targeting general contractors and specialty contractors for their willingness and method of participating in the mutual market was conducted. As a result of the survey, it was found that 52% of general contractors were willing to participate in the specialized construction market and 55.1% of specialty contractors were willing to participate in the general construction market. It was found that there was a high willingness to participate in the earthworks, reinforced concrete works, facility maintenance and management, water and sewage facility works, and interior works, and high competition is expected for projects with a scale of 500 million to less than 3 billion won. Through this study, it will be possible for general and specialty contractors to understand the changes in the construction market due to the reorganization of the construction industry production system, and to respond effectively to these changes.
To effectively secure and execute the national budget, it is very important to estimate the reasonable construction cost of each process in the construction of public facilities and works. The construction cost is generally estimated at the time when the design of the targeted structures has been completed. Without detailed sectional drawings and with only simple information on bridge structures in the planning stage or in the early design stage. it would be very difficult to predict the approximate construction cost. In this study, a more efficient and appropriate approximate construction cost estimation model in the planning stage and in the early design stage is presented and verified as reliable by analyzing the construction cost data of 61 existing steel box girder bridges from previous studies. The results of this study show that when the construction cost that was predicted using the construction cost estimation model in the design stage was compared with the cost from the conventional standards, the suggested model in this study produced results with a very high confidence level.
