This study verifies the constituents of the professional image by a quantitative method that follows previous qualitative work to clarify the conceptual structure of the professional image for appearance management in the workplace. This study used on-line and off-line data from a positive sampling that involved 1,056 male and female workers engaged in 10 occupational classes. The results of the study were as follows: First, the constituents of a professional image include openness, leadership, harmonious relationship, and financial power, all of which demonstrated a high interrelationship. Second, there are significant differences in favorable factors according to the occupational category. It is important to strategically manage the professional image in consideration of effective image factors and related appearance attributes.

Purpose: This study was to identify affecting factors on job satisfaction, nursing professional attitudes of new nurses according to transformational leadership of preceptors. Method: The subjects were 101 new nurses who were working for the 4 of university hospitals in Seoul, Daejeon and Kyong Ki. This study was conducted from Aug to Oct 2005. The data was collected by questionnaires and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression. Result: Transformational leadership of preceptors were significantly correlated between Job satisfaction, nursing professional attitudes of the new nurses. The stepwise multiple regression analysis for job satisfaction, nursing professional attitudes revealed that the most powerful predictor was charisma. Conclusion: The findings indicated that the transformational leadership of preceptors is important for improving job satisfaction, nursing professional attitudes of the new nurses. Therefore it may be necessary further to develop of the leadership training program for effective preceptorship.

Professional self-determination of the individual is a complex and lengthy process of finding and realizing yourself in the profession. The main goal of professional self-determination is clarified. The basic concepts of readiness for professional self-determination of future specialists in the modern information society are revealed. The following approaches to the consideration of the concept of readiness are defined: functional-psychological, personal, activity-based. Based on the components of readiness identified by the researchers, it can be assumed that the structure of professional self-determination of the future specialist contains motivational, cognitive and activity components. Self-determination is defined as a multidimensional process that can be considered from different points of view: as a series of tasks, that society sets for the emerging individual, and which the individual must solve in a certain period. As a process of step-by-step decision-making, with the help of which the individual forms a balance between his desires and inclinations, on the one hand, and the needs of society, on the other; as a process of forming an individual lifestyle, part of which is professional activity. A number of tasks of professional self-determination of a future specialist in the information society are formulated. Diagnostic practices for determining the degree of readiness of future specialists for future professional success are characterized. Practices are developed as a basis for creating an individually oriented correctional and development program to promote the formation of future specialists' focus on future professional success. Their task is to ensure control over the dynamics of this process, assess the effectiveness of this career guidance work. Practices are aimed at identifying the degree of thorough knowledge of the conditions for achieving professional success in the chosen field of activity among future specialists.
In ordo to investigate the professional job perception and job satisfaction of interns and residents and its related factors, the author conducted survey using self administered questionnaire for 2 months(August and September, 1996). The study subjects were 562 interns and residents who worked at one university hospital(tertiary hospital) and two general hospitals(secondary hospital) in Taegu, Korea. Among them, 297 (52.8%) responded completely. The results were as follows ; Respondents thought that people component was most important, science and status components were next among professional value scales which meant the desirable attitudes required to conduct professional works. But, the score of professional value scales was generally high and not affected by other variables in multiple linear regression analysis. They seemed to have very normative and ideal perceptions about professional values. The score of professionalism scales, which were attitudinal and behavioral traits about professional job, of high grade residents was significantly higher than that of interns and lower grade residents. The score of reference to professional organization and autonomy factor were increasing significantly as the grade increased. Working conditions and perception for socioeconomic status of doctors influenced the score of professionalism scale significantly. It seemed that professional socialization was made during the training periods of interns and residents. Most of respondents answered that current socioeconomic status of doctors were middle and high strata but they responded that the socioeconomic status of doctors would fall in the future. They seemed to have a pessimistic thought about doctor's status. Generally the respondents thought that they were satisfied with doctor job and fit to the job, but 51.9% answered that if possible they would get other jobs. It seemed to reflect their critical thinking on doctors' status. Perceptions about socioeconomic status of doctors, professional value and professionalism influenced job satisfaction significantly. The interns and residents had high sense of calling to doctors and thought that doctors were socially important job. Generally they were satisfied with their job. Interns and residents had normative thoughts about the trait which compentent doctors must have. During the training period, they seemed to have attitude and perception as a professional and to make professional socializations.
This study examined the effects of constructivist educational beliefs and self-regulated learning skills of children on teacher professional development. The study was conducted by sampling 273 teachers. Three kinds of variables, which included constructivist educational beliefs, self-regulated learning ability, and professional development level were measured and analyzed for this study. The results were as follows. First, early childhood teachers beliefs of constructivist education, self-regulated learning ability and professional development were found to be higher than average. Second, the professional development of early childhood teachers is shown to be correlated with constructivist educational beliefs and self-regulated learning ability. When constructivist educational beliefs and self-regulated learning ability scores increases, the professional development score is high. Third, metacognitive strategies, cognitive strategies and constructivist educational beliefs are factors that predict the professional development of early childhood teachers. According to results of this study, it suggests that constructivist educational beliefs and self-regulated learning ability are important factors to be addressed.
Purpose : The aims of this study was to provide basic data to enhance the professional self-concept of nurses in intensive care unit and identify the relationship between job stress, working bullying, self-efficacy and professional self-concept and identify the factors influencing professional self-concept in intensive care unit nurses. Methods : This study was conducted from June to August, 2018 at five general hospitals over 500 beds. Structured questionnaire were completed by 120 nurses who had agreed to understand and participate in the study. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS win 24.0 program. Results : Factors affecting the professional self-concept of the subjects were self-efficacy, working bullying, unsatisfaction and satisfaction of nursing job satisfaction, age. The explanatory power of these variables on professional self-concept was 55.1%. Conclusion : The self-efficacy, working bullying, nursing job satisfaction, and age of the intensive care unit nurses were identified as the major factors influencing the professional self-concept. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply an educational program to improve self-efficacy and nursing job satisfaction and reduce working bullying, which are influencing factors of professional self-concept of intensive care unit nurse.

Purpose: This study was done to investigate the correlation among emotional labor, nursing professional values, and job satisfaction and identify factors that affect job satisfaction of nurses working in small and medium-sized hospitals. Methods: Data were collected from 214 nurses in S city. The following measurement tools were used: Emotional labor by Morris et al. (1996), Nursing Professional Values Scale by Yeun et al. (2005), and Index of Work Satisfaction by Stamps et al. (1978). Collected data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 18.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression. Results: Participants' scores for emotional labor, nursing professional values and job satisfaction were $3.11{\pm}0.48$, $3.46{\pm}0.39$, and $3.02{\pm}0.29$ respectively. Emotional labor showed a negative correlation with job satisfaction (r=-.33, p<.001), while nursing professional values showed a positive correlation with job satisfaction (r=.58, p<.001). Emotional labor and nursing professional values were identified as factors influencing job satisfaction. The model explained about 39% of the variance in job satisfaction (F=67.40, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that it is important to manage emotional labor as well as to improve professional values and job satisfaction of nurses working in small and medium-sized hospital.

Purpose: This study was done in order to identify nursing students' professional self-concept, self-leadership and clinical competence and to analyze the correlation among the variables and the factors influencing clinical competence. Methods: The research participants were 294 senior nursing students in the nursing departments of 3 universities located in Jeollabuk-do. The students had completed 3 semesters of clinical practice. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Multiple Regression. Results: Participants' scores for professional self-concept, self-leadership, clinical competence were $2.78{\pm}0.36$, $3.63{\pm}0.47$, $3.80{\pm}0.40$ respectively. Professional self-concept, self-leadership and clinical competence had positive correlations. Factors influencing nursing students' clinical competence included professional self-concepts in professional practice, self-expectations in self-leadership, constructive thinking, self-compensation and self-criticism in that order, and these variables explained 48%of the variance in clinical competence. Conclusion: Based on these results, it is important to develop and apply educational programs to increase professional self-concept and self-leadership in order to improve nursing students' clinical competence.
Purpose. The purpose of this study is to investigate how professional self-concept and ego-resilience of nursing students affect their clinical competence. Methods. This study conducted a structured-questionnaire survey with 143 nursing students to look into their professional self-concept, ego-resilience and clinical competence. Results. According to the study result, professional self-concept scored 2.85 on average out of 4 points, ego-resilience 3.61 on average, and clinical competence 3.48 on average. It was found that clinical competence had significantly positive correlations with professional self-concept (r=.58, p<.01) and ego-resilience (r=.44, p<.01). According to regression analysis, the factors affecting clinical competence were professional self-concept, ego-resilience, and academic grades in order, and explanatory power was 39.5%. Conclusions. Given the above results, in order to improve clinical competence of nursing students, nursing educational institutes need to find an educational plan which can contribute to increasing professional self-concept, ego-resilience, and academic grades.
