Improvement Target SW Process Selection for Small and Medium Size Software Organizations (중소 소프트웨어 기업의 개선 대상 SW 프로세스 선정)

  • Based on SPICE (Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination) evaluation model, SPIRE (Software Process Improvement in Regions of Europe) is developed and published as a process improvement model for small and medium size organizations. However, practical selection guidelines or mapping rules between business goals and software processes do not exist within SPIRE. This research aims to construct an objective reference mapping table between business goals and software processes, and to propose a process selection method using the mapping table. The mapping table is constructed by the convergence of domestic software process experts' opinions using Delphi techniques. In the suggested process selection method, target processes are selected using the intuition of project participants or project managers as well as the reference mapping table. The feasibility of the proposed selection method has been reviewed by applying to two small software companies. Using the reference mapping table, we could select key processes which were passed over by project managers.

  • To survive in a global competition, many companies are trying to standardize and visualize Business Process (BP) by implementing Business Process Management (BPM). Recently, enhancing business process efficiency has become one of critical success factors. In this paper, we introduce a two-phase perspective of BP efficiency: Process Engine Perspective (PEP) and Task Performer Perspective (TPP). The former is related to allocation function of BP engine; it is mainly concerned with efficient task allocation to users. The latter phase influences efficiency depending on how users execute tasks assigned to them. Instead of considering each phase separately, we develop a comprehensive method considering the two-phase together, which is more effective for the BP efficiency. We carry out simulation experiment to show the combinational effect of the two phases.

  • It is being emphasized that management of core process is another crutial factor in the development of a product, besides of management of quality factors for the product itself. The study purposes to introduce process quality concept to digital contents market, and also aimes at meauring of process maturity, based on level 2 and 3 of Capability Maturity Model, for domestic companies especially devoted to digital contents area. The result shows that the maturity level of most of companies surveyed is very low and that mobile and game fields are slightly more matured than animation field. The paper also proposes some of future efforts to be made fur improving maturity level of digital contents companies.

  • To execute business collaborations, the business process specification is required and it is generated from the business process model. ebXML, which is the XML-based B2B standard framework for organizations over the Internet, recommends process analyst and modeler to use UN/CEFACT Modeling Methodology for modeling. All the artifacts of the modeling and transformed results between different business models may be registered in the business library for the share and re-use. In this paper, we implement the business process modeler including built-in registry client. It provides not only modeling the business process but also generating the specifications, exporting the metadata about the business model, and registering in the business library.

  • Modeller is defined as the office work procedures(business processes), and that is systemically based upon the real-time collaborative operations by a set of actors, which is called group. This paper describes the design of the ICN editor that is operable under the real-time collaborative computing environment. We use the database agent that enables the ICN editor to operate among multiple actors(group) through the event-driven collaboration platform. Consequently, a set of workflow and business processes defined through this editor is not only stored onto database but also transformed into the format of the workflow process definition language(WPDL) that is a standardized worflow description and specification language proposed by the workflow management coalition(WfMC). This method can improve the performance of workflow processing by minimizing the workflow execution cost occurred during workflow definition.

  • 많은 6시그마 혁신을 하는 기업 중에서 IS09000 시리즈나 IS0/TS16949 인증을 받고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 6시그마 도입 초기부터 ISO/TS16949와 통합운영을 생각하고 추진하는 곳은 많지 않다. ISO/TS16949에서는 기업전반의 프로세스에 많은 중점을 두고 있다. 그 중에서도 APQP(Advanced Product Quality Planning)은 제품 초기에서 부터 명확한 품질계획 업무 프로세스를 가지고 활동을 하라는 필수 프로세스를 요구하고 있다. 그러나 구체적인 Flow나 단계는 각 기업체의 특성에 맞기고 있다. 6시그마의 Lean DFSS는 이러한 제품개발 프로세스의 구체적인 전개단계를 제공 하고 있다. 여기에 APQP에 서 요건으로 명시한 각 프로세스 단계마다 인풋(Input)요소, 아웃풋(Output) 요소, 타켓(Target), 그 프로세스를 책임질 구성원, 핵심성공요인(KSF), 핵심성공지수(KPI), 단계마다의 FMEA(Failure Mode Effect Analysis) 분석을 대응하면 도입 초기에서 부터 상호 유기적이면서 효과적인 System이 된다.

  • This study analyzes the process of informatization in the public sector for information system development using Peter Keen's Process Capability Matrix. For this, Informatization Support Project, a model case of informatization process in the public sector, is analyzed by the approach from a traditional point of view to the viewpoint of e-business By doing this, the direction of BPR for informatization in the public sector will be presented. Moreover, implications for the direction of the outsourcing will be provided.

  • Evaluating the work process of the organization is necessary to improve efficiency and make high quality of results. As size of construction projects are bigger, it is also applied to design firm. By applying efficient process, design team can reduce rework and waste. To make systematic process and keep a continuous progress, process evaluation is required. On this study, CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) concept is benchmarked. Originally CMMI is suggested to evaluating capability of work process of Soft Ware developing organization by SEI(Software Engineering Institute). From CMMI system, direction of making evaluating method of design project performing team is drove. After worked out the evaluation method of capability maturity of process in design team, it could contribute making progress in the design process and satisfying client.

  • In this paper, we propose the enhanced Assessment Model of the Embedded Software Process(MND-ESPAM) which is suitable for the development work of weapons in Korea. In 2008. We developed the MND-ESPAM which is the assessment criteria of software process, but this model is inefficient to apply to Korean military area. Therefore, we elicit and analyze the problems of MND-ESPAM through tow methods. One is to research on the actual condition of the domestic defense industry about software process management. And the other is to apply MND-ESPAM to the defense companies acquiring CMMI level. In order to overcome these problems elicited above, we provide solutions to make MND-ESPAM linked with Software Development Process Guide of Defense Acquisition Program Administration(DAPA) and to systematically strengthen testing activities and to reduce the number of process areas. The proposed model was proved by two objective methods such as checking the coverage with CMMI and whether it is satisfied or not by modified requirements ISO/IEC 14598-3. At last, experts in the field of software process confirmed the effect of MND-ESPAM through applying MND-ESPAM to the defense industry company.

The Related Research Issues and the Suggestion of the Radical Services Innovation Process Models in the Service Firms (기업수준에서의 급변적 서비스 혁신 프로세스 모형과 관련 연구 이슈 탐색)

  • In the services industry and firms, the successful new service development is very important issue today, But the innovation process for service firms is comprehensively little treated until now. This study was performed to suggest the new service development process model for the firms level in the perspective of the radical service innovation. So, in this paper the new process development model can be made by reviewing the concepts about the radical service innovation and by analyzing the some existing new service development process models. In the suggested service development process model, the three key process such as technology forecast, market analysis, and strategy development were included for front phase activity as the new service development process. Also the four key process for searching phase, and the other three key process for implementation phase were included. And for the application for the service firms' service innovation, the innovation's outcome estimation reference model is included. I hope to be executed the various case research and the improvement and optimization for this suggested process model in the future.
