  • The existence of solutions and the occurence of a Hopf bifurcation for the free boundary problem with Pushchino dynamics was shown in [3]. In this paper we shall show a Hopf bifurcation occurs for the free boundary which is given by (1).

  • This paper deals with the bifurcations of non-semi-simple eigenvalues at critical point of Hopf bifurcation to understand the dynamic behavior of the system. By using the Puiseux expansion, the expression of the bifurcation of non-semi-simple eigenvalues and the corresponding topological structure in the parameter space are obtained. The zero-order approximate solutions in the vicinity of the critical points at which the multiple Hopf bifurcation may occur are developed. A numerical example, the flutter problem of an airfoil in simplified model, is given to illustrate the application of the proposed method.

  • The first part of the paper deals with a brief introduction of the plant-herbivore model system along with deterministic analysis of local stability and Hopf-bifurcations. The second part consists of stability analysis of the limit cycle arising from Hopf-bifurcation and uniqueness of limit cycle. The third part deals with the study of global stability of the model system under consideration.

  • In this paper, we consider three-component reaction-diffusion system. With an integral condition and a global coupling, this system gives us an interesting free boundary problem. We shall examine the occurrence of a Hopf bifurcation and the stability of solutions as the global coupling constant varies. The main result is that a Hopf bifurcation occurs for global coupling and this motion is transferred to the stable motion for strong global coupling.

  • In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior and Hopf bifurcation of the modified Holling-Tanner models for the predator-prey interactions in the absence of diffusion. Further the direction of Hopf bifurcation and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions are investigated. Diffusion driven instability of the positive equilibrium solutions and Turing instability region regarding the parameters are established. Finally we illustrate the theoretical results with some numerical examples.

  • In this paper, a class of delayed predator-prey models of prey migration and predator switching is considered. By analyzing the associated characteristic transcendental equation, its linear stability is investigated and Hopf bifurcation is demonstrated. Some explicit formulae for determining the stability and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions bifurcating from Hopf bifurcations are obtained by using the normal form theory and center manifold theory. Some numerical simulations for justifying the theoretical analysis are also provided. Finally, biological explanations and main conclusions are given.

  • The model of a power system with load dynamics is studied by investigating qualitative changes in its behavior as the reactive power demand at a load bus is increased. The load is created using induction motors parallel with the constant power and constant impedance load. As the load increases, the system experiences various bifurcations such as sub critical and supercritical Hopf, period-doubling and saddle-node bifurcation. The latter may lead the system to voltage collapse. A nonlinear controller is used to control the subcritical Hopf bifurcation and hence mitigate voltage collapse. It is applied to the KEPCO (Korean Electric Power Company) system to demonstrate its validity.

  • In order to analyze the nonlinear phenomena of the bifurcation and chaos caused by the switching of nonlinear switching devices in inductively coupled power transfer (ICPT) systems, a Jacobian matrix model, based on discrete mapping numerical modeling, is established to judge the system stability of the periodic closed orbit and to study the nonlinear behavior of Hopf bifurcation in a system under full resonance. The general flow of the parameter design, based on the stability principle for ICPT systems, is proposed to avoid the chaos and bifurcation phenomena caused by unreasonable parameter selection. Firstly, based on the state equation of SS-type compensation, a three-dimensional bifurcation diagram with the coupling coefficient as the bifurcation parameter is established with a numerical simulation to observe the nonlinear phenomena in the system. Then Filippov's method based on a Jacobian matrix model is adopted to deduce the boundary of stable operation and to judge the type of the bifurcation in the system. Then the general flow of the parameter design based on the stability principle for ICPT systems is proposed through the above analysis to realize stable operation under the conditions of weak coupling. Finally, an experimental platform is built to confirm the correctness of the numerical simulation and modeling.
