  • High speed railroad project management has been almost completed by starting operation of Seoul-Busan high speed railroad with the exception of a few constructing blocks currently in April, 2004. After Korea Rail Network Authority was established in 2004, it needs to develop new project management system for both conventional railroad construction and high speed railroad construction for domestic railroad projects, while it plans to invest in overseas railroad project for logistics innovation and improvement in passenger transport services on a large scale. Therefore this paper provides the method that we can adapt the project management system for high speed railroad containing experiences and know-how from construction of high speed railroad for both conventional railroad construction and high speed railroad construction or improve project management system for high speed railroad to use it as project management system for overseas railroad projects.

  • As the delay of the Kyungbu High Speed Railroad, HST should use conventional line through Daegoo to Pusan until the new railroad build. High speed railroad noise is one of the main causes of environmental impact. Whenever HST on conventional railroad line is planned or a housing project near an existing railroad is proposed, an estimate of the relevant noise levels is usually required. For this, it is necessary to quantify those parameters that affect the railroad noise. This paper deals with an estimation of high speed railroad noise on conventional line.

Safety Margin Evaluation of Railway wheel Based on Fracture Scenarios

  • Derailment due to wheel failure would cause a tremendous social and economical cost in service operation. It is necessary to evaluate quantitatively the safety with respect to high-speed train. Although the safety of railway wheel has been ensured by an regular inspection, all critical defects cannot be detected in inspection cycles and the wheel has been replaced because a defect quickly become critical for safety. Therefore, it is important to calculate quantitatively the fracture limit and remnant life of damaged railway wheel in wheel-rail system. In present paper, the critical crack size of wheel for high-speed train is simulated based on fracture scenario and the safety of wheel is evaluated.

  • In order to develop a overhead catenary system for the maximum speed of 400 km/h on Honam high-speed line, increasing tension of contact wire, changing dropper distributions, reducing a hard point and etc. should be considered. And it is also essential to develop core components taking account of the increased tension. Therefore we developed a new steady arm for the max. speed of 400 km/h in this study. FEM (Finite Elements Method) analysis was performed to ensure the strength of the arm. An oval shape was applied to the arm, so that 25 % of strength was increased and 9 % of weight was decreased. And a type test according to the code KRSA-3012 was performed to ensure the performance. Fatigue test in KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute)'s test-bed was also performed to evaluate its performance. Some section of the Honam High-speed line was constructed with the developed steady arm.

  • KTX will be operated on Kyun-Pu High Speed Railroad Line around end of 2,003 and KHST(G7 Korea High Speed Train) will be carried out the development running test at Kyun-Pu High Speed Railroad Line from middle of 2002. By the way, the conventional Ho-Nam railroad line was passed the limit capacity of transportation at some area from 1997. For solving of this matter, Ho-Nam railroad line need new high speed railroad line for high transportation capacity of passengers now. This report was studied about the rolling stock system design used new technology of KHST and KTX for Ho-Nam High Speed Railroad.

고속철도차량 감속기 결함진단을 위한 진동 파라미터 분석 (Analysis of Vibration Parameters for the Fault Diagnosis of Reduction Unit for High-speed Train)

  • The reduction unit is one of the most important components in railway cars, due to the transmission of torque from the motor to the wheels. Faulty reduction gears in high-speed trains result from excessive wear on the gear or damage to the gear. These types of gear defects have a significant effect on high-speed rail operation and safety; thus, a diagnosis system for the reduction unit is needed. Vibration diagnosis technology is one of the most effective diagnostics. In this paper, the vibration parameters of a reduction unit were evaluated during a driving-gear test and a full-vehicle test, using kurtosis and the crest factor. These tests were performed under normal operating conditions; a specimen tester was used to diagnose problems in defective gears.

  • 차량의 승차감은 차체의 성능 뿐만 아니라 궤도의 특성에 의해서도 영향을 받게 되므로, 궤도선형 및 궤도틀림의 관리를 위하여 차량의 승차감 평가결과를 이용한다. 본 논문에서는 차체의 진동가속도 계측데이터를 이용하여 궤도유지보수와 상관성이 있는 Continuous comfort 승차감 평가방법을 통해 국내 경부고속철도노선 및 유럽 고속철도노선에 대한 승차감 평가를 수행하였다. 승차감 평가결과를 속도대역 별로 구분하여 국내외 고속철도노선의 승차감 분포현황을 정량적으로 분석하고 승차감 수준을 비교하였다. 국내의 경부고속철도의 승차감이 유럽 고속철도노선에 비하여 다소 우수한 것으로 평가되었으며, 이를 통해 국내 고속선의 궤도선형 및 궤도틀림의 관리가 적절하게 수행되고 있음을 유추할 수 있었다.

  • R-Bar (Overhead Rigid Conductor system) has been lately used for the speed of over 200km/h in Europe, while it has been developed and used for the max. speed of 120km/h in Korea. Because R-Bar has advantages of reduction of tunnel cross sectional area and maintenance, its development for more high-speed is urgent in Korea having many mountain area. Therefore a sensitivity analysis of design parameters for the speed-up of R-Bar has performed in this study. For the analysis, we have developed a program for the prediction of dynamic characteristics between a pantograph and R-Bar. The program was evaluated with the actual test result and a current collection performance according to the parameters such as a distance between brackets, a stiffness of bracket and of R-Bar rail was predicted with the program.

  • The Honam conventional railroad was already exceseed the limit capacity of transportal ion at some sect ion. Therefore Honam railroad axis needs new high speed railroad line for increasing of transportal ion capacity now. This report was studied about the system technical specification of rolling stock based on new technology or high speed train or advenced countries, KHST and KTX for Honam high speed railroad.
