The IG received a 3-month multi-component lifestyle intervention, while the CG received minimal information on obesity. The program consisted of health counseling, health education booklet and health diary. Health examination and self-administered survey were conducted before and after the intervention to determine the effectiveness of the program. Results: After the intervention. health indices of the IG were significantly improved in weight(p=.003), waist circumference(p=.011), % body fat(p=.021), and total abdominal fat area(p=.041). The reduction of waist circumstance among IG participants was better than that of those in the CG(p=.017). The IG demonstrated significant improvements in dietary behaviors(p=.013), periodic measurement of waist circumstance(p=.005), pros of weight control(p<.001) and awareness of one's current biomarkers(p=.038) better than the CG did. The proportion of normalized participants in waist circumference was 21.1% in the IG and 8.7% in the CG(p=.017). Conclusions: Lifestyle intervention program can improve the obese status and health behaviors in adults.

  • Objecive and Method: Smoking among health professionals has been shown to influence smoking related knowledge, attitude and educational practices in medical setting. And lack of health professionals' efficacy for smoking cessation intervention has been a major barrier to education on smoking too. In this regard, the present study was carried out to introduce and discuss the advanced cases of smoking cessation education for health professionals, and to develop theory-based educational models of smoking cessation for health professionals in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of intervention on smoking in a medical framework. Results: First, major issues of health professionals' smoking cessation intervention were discussed. Discussed issues were smoking prevalence among health professionals, importance of health professionals' roles both as health educators and examples, and health professionals' cognitive dissonance. As advanced cases of smoking cessation education for health professionals, ATOD(Alcohol, Tabacco, and Other Drug problem prevention) developed by US Department of Health & Human Services and the Rx for Change curriculum in California State were discussed. Finally, smoking cessation educational models for health professionals were developed on the basis of social cognitive model and TPB/TTM. Conclusions: For the effective and efficient smoking cessation intervention in medical setting, systematic efforts would be necessary to provide opportunities for ensuring the qualification of health professionals on smoking cessation through an analysis of major issues concerning smoking cessation education for health professional and the development of comprehensive curriculum for smoking cessation.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the awareness-perception factors and oral health promotion behavior of dental hygiene and nonhealth-related students in an effort to find out factors affecting their oral health promotion behavior. Methods : The subjects in this study were students in the three-year-course dental hygiene and students in the two-year-course nonhealth-related department in G college located in the city of Gwangju. After a survey was conducted, the collected data were analyzed and compared. Results : 1. The dental hygiene students were statistically significantly ahead of the nonhealth-related students in perceived oral health knowledge(p<0.001), awareness of the importance of oral health(p<0.001), perceived oral health status(p<0.001) and oral health interest(p<0.001). 2. Concerning the characteristics of oral health promotion behavior, the dental hygiene students were statistically significantly better at toothbrushing(p<0.001) and the use of dental floss(p<0.001) than the nonhealth-related students. 3. Regarding factors affecting oral health promotion behavior, oral health knowledge and oral health interest were identified as the factors that impacted on oral health promotion behavior. Out of the two, oral health interest exercised a greater influence on that. Conclusions : It seems that oral health education could motivate students to be concerned about their oral health, to acquire knowledge on that and eventually to change their oral health behavior and attitude. As for college students, oral health education provides a final chance for them to check their oral health knowledge, attitude and oral health promotion behavior before they start to work as full-fledged adults, and institutional measures should be taken to offer more intensive official oral health education.

As a result of research, it was noted that PHP-Index, the dental plaque index in the oral cavity became lower from 2.02 points to 1.00 point with continuous management and practice of oral promotion behaviors, and that the oral hygiene status improved. Conclusions. In order to promote the oral health of workers at work sites, substantially, it would be necessary to introduce an oral health promotion program they can practice themselves and through continuous education of oral health by assessing their consciousness and the actual status of their oral health behaviors, and it is expected that their oral health would be promoted ultimately by changing workers' oral health behaviors and consciousness.

The findings of this study were as follows; First, there showed meaningful differences concerning their health promotion behavior according to students' demographic traits. There were a birth date, living standard, domestic environments etc. as a factors which influenced on their health promotion behavior. With this, from ex-past-facto verification for these variable factors, as their birth date was faster, living standard was higher, domestic environments was better, as their health promotion behavior was more promotive. Their mental health promotion behavior marked 3.71 with the respective to inferior category of health promotion behavior, which was the highest score. In the other hands, their physical health promotion behavior marked 3.71, social health promotion behavior marked 3.45. contrary the disease prevention, first-aid & safety, oral health, health & nutrition(P>.05). Third, there show meaningful difference, in the level of p-value <.001 with the respective to the correlations between primary school students' health promotion behavior and their self-concept, more their self-concept was positive, more their more their whole health promotion behavior(r=.479), the fulfillment degree of physical health promotion behavior(r=.384), mental health promotion behavior(r=.543), social health promotion behavior(r=.372) were high. Fourth, with the respective to the results of difference verification concerning their fulfillment degree of health promotion behavior according to the upper, middle, inferior group of self-concept, there showed statistically meaningful difference, in the level of p-value<.001. In the long run, more their self-concept was positive, more their whole health promotion behavior was high. With this, from the results of $Scheff\acute{e}$ verification, there showed meaning differences among the upper and middle group, upper and inferior group, middle and inferior group. Fifth, self-concept played the role as the most important prognostic factor with the respective to primary school students' health promotion behavior(23.0%), in the other hands, there showed positive weight of 24.0% concerning the fulfillment of whole health promotion behavior by domestic environments(1.0%). From the above results, primary school students' the fulfillment degree of health promotion behavior didn't reach to middle or inferior level. In the other hands, there showed positive effects in the correlations between self-concept and the fulfillment degree of health promotion behavior, and also high self-concept group was much positive considering inferior group in the fulfillment degree of health promotion behavior. Accordingly, more their self-concept was positive, more their fulfillment degree of health promotion behavior was effective. Eventually, in the future, there have to make an efforts to develope positive, substantial programs through their self-concept enhancement etc. in the adequate planning or operation for primary school students' health education and school health program.

  • Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of an education program for public health service workers in public hospitals, utilizing the Kirkpatrick model. Methods: The study participants were 118 staff in 48 public hospitals. Of the stages in the Kirkpatrick model(reaction, learning, behavior, and result), reaction and learning stages were analyzed in this study. A 10-item self-evaluation questionnaire was used to measure satisfaction level for the reaction, and achievement of learning purposes for the learning. The education program consisted of general courses and special two tract courses(Tract A: chronic diseases, Tract B: health promotion). Results: The highest score for reaction was for Tract A(score=4.4), whilst the lowest score for reaction was for lecture(score=3.0). Learning achievement was significantly different between pre-education and post-education(p<0.01), except for health technicians. Conclusions: The results of this study could be utilized to develop effective systematic education programs for public health service workers in public hospitals.
