  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to examine physical health and depression by women's employment status and role satisfaction, and to identify significant predictors for women's health status. Method: With a cross-sectional, correlational study design, a sample of study was consisted of 181 women who were employed or not employed whose child was attending an elementary school through convenience sampling. Data were collected with a structured self-administered questionnaire and analyzed by $X^2$-test, t-test, 2-way ANCOVA and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS program. Result: Employed women had poorer physical health than that of nonemployed women and women who had greater satisfaction as a parent reported better physical health and lower level of depression than who had lower satisfaction with covariates. Predictor for better physical health after controlling for covariates was being not employed, greater satisfaction with worker's role if employed, and greater satisfaction with parent's role. Women who had lower level of depression reported greater satisfaction with their social roles, but occupancy of multiple roles and role satisfaction as worker were not related to depression. Conclusion: Role quantity and role quality seem to be very important factors to maintain better physical and psychological well-being in women.

Method: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design using a convenience sample. Data collection was done using self-report questionnaires with 297 elders from 6 community health practitioner posts. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression with the SPSS Win 18.0 Program. Results: Life satisfaction had significant negative correlations with age (r=-.31, p<.001) and loneliness (r=-.73, p<.001), and positive correlations with monthly spending money (r=.44, p<.001), health status (r=.63, p<.001), and leisure satisfaction (r=.62, p<.001). The explained variance for life satisfaction was 72%. Variables of monthly spending money, health status, leisure satisfaction, and loneliness significantly predicted the degree on life satisfaction of these elders. • Background: It is important to investigate patient satisfaction to improve the quality of healthcare. Among the many factors that affect patient satisfaction, perceived health status has been considered as one of the major factors. Therefore, we investigated patient satisfaction through patient experience in outpatient settings according to perceived health status. Methods: This cross-sectional study using questionnaires of patient experience and perceived health status from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2015 included 4267 people aged over 19 years who met the inclusion criteria. Perceived health status was classified into three: good, fair, and poor. Questions about patient experience consisted of four items: doctor spending enough time with patients, doctor providing easy-to-understand explanation, doctor giving opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns, and doctor involving patient in decisions about care or treatment. Patient experience was classified into two: satisfied and non-satisfied. A multivariate regression model was used to analyze the data. Results: In the good perceived health status group, level of satisfaction was 79.2%, 88.5%, 83.3% and 87.2%, respectively for the four items targeting patient experience. In the poor group, level of satisfaction was 76%, 84.9%, 79.5%, and 83.1%, respectively for the four items. In multivariate logistic regression analyses, the odds ratios of good perceived health status group were 1.775 (1.347-2.338), 1.946 (1.356-2.793), 1.652 (1.218-2.240), and 1.665 (1.193-2.323) compared with the poor group. Conclusion: Perceived health status is associated with patient satisfaction. In particular, the better the perceived health status, the better the patient satisfaction through patient experience.

  • Purpose: This study aimed to determine the correlation between job performance difficulties and job satisfaction that novice health teachers experienced in a new school environment, and provide the basic data necessary for policy development. Methods: Data were collected from 196 novice health teachers without in-service training program for the qualification of 1st grade and with less than four years of work experience in Korea. The self-report questionnaire consisted of general characteristics, perception of difficulties in job performance, and job satisfaction. The data were analyzed using the x2 test, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: Novice health teachers had the most difficulty in health education during their job performance, whereas teachers without hospital clinical experience encountered difficulties in health management. Those with less than two years of teaching experience or no experience of being contract health teachers had higher job performance difficulties. The results revealed that the lack of experience in performance at a school site had a considerable influence on the difficulty in job performance. In terms of job satisfaction, novice health teachers had the highest satisfaction with status recognition and the lowest satisfaction with their tasks in charge. Additionally, as the difficulty in job performance increased, job satisfaction decreased. Conclusion: The study results indicated the need for training to provide novice health teachers with sufficient experience in job performance before being placed in a school. The provision of support to respond to difficulties in job performance will improve job satisfaction and contribute not only to the development of novice health teachers, but also to the improvement of the quality of school health.
