This paper analyzes the non-stationary vibration and super-harmonic resonances in nonlinear dynamic motion of viscoelastic nano-resonators. For this purpose, a new coupled size-dependent model is developed for a plate-shape nano-resonator made of nonlinear viscoelastic material based on modified coupled stress theory. The virtual work induced by viscous forces obtained in the framework of the Leaderman integral for the size-independent and size-dependent stress tensors. With incorporating the size-dependent potential energy, kinetic energy, and an external excitation force work based on Hamilton's principle, the viscous work equation is balanced. The resulting size-dependent viscoelastically coupled equations are solved using the expansion theory, Galerkin method and the fourth-order Runge-Kutta technique. The Hilbert-Huang transform is performed to examine the effects of the viscoelastic parameter and initial excitation values on the nanosystem free vibration. Furthermore, the secondary resonance due to the super-harmonic motions are examined in the form of frequency response, force response, Poincare map, phase portrait and fast Fourier transforms. The results show that the vibration of viscoelastic nanosystem is non-stationary at higher excitation values unlike the elastic ones. In addition, ignoring the small-size effects shifts the secondary resonance, significantly.
The effects of battery aging limit the rechargeable capacity, State of Health(SoH). It is very important to estimate the SoH in the battery monitoring system(BMS) and many algorithms of measuring the internal resistance of the battery were proposed. A method is used by applying a current source of a specific frequency to the battery and measuring the voltage response. When charging harmonic noise is generated in the voltage response, it results in poor resistance measurement accuracy. In this paper, a robust battery internal resistance measurement algorithm is proposed to eliminate the effect of charging noise by integrating the current source and voltage response signals for a certain period. It showed excellent accuracy and stable measurement results. Applying to the BMS for uninterruptible power supply, the usefulness of the proposed method is verified.

Ultrasonic metal welding is one of the welding methods which welds metal by applying high frequency vibrational energy into specific area at constant pressure, avaliable in room temperature and low temperature. Ultrasonic metal welder is consisted of power supply, transducer, booster, and horn. Precise designing is required since each parts' shape, length and mass can affect driving frequency and vibration mode. This paper focused to horn design, its length L was set to 62mm by calculating vibration equation. By performing modal analysis with various shape variable b times integer, when length of b is 30mm the output was 39,599Hz at 10th mode. Also by performing harmonic response analysis, the frequency response result was 39,533Hz, which was similar to modal analysis result. In order to observe the designed horn's performance, about 4,000 voltage data was obtained from a light sensor and was analyzed by FFT analysis using Origin Tool. The result RMS amplitude was approximately 8.5${\mu}m$ at 40,000Hz, and maximum amplitude was 12.3${\mu}m$. Therefore, it was verified that the ultrasonic metal welding horn was optimally designed.
Usually, a LPF (low pass filter) is used in the feedback loop of a SRF (synchronous reference frame) - PLL (phase locked loop) system because the measured grid voltage contains harmonic distortions and sensor noises. In this paper, it is shown that the cut-off frequency of the LPF should be designed to suppress the harmonic ripples contained in the measured voltage. Also, a new design method for the loop gain of the PI-type controller in the SRF-PLL is proposed with consideration of the dynamics of the LPF. As a result, a better transient response can be obtained with the proposed design method. The LPF frequency and the PI controller gain are designed in coordination according to the steady state and dynamic performance requirements. Furthermore, in the proposed method, the controller gain and the LPF cut-off frequency are changed from their normal value to a transient value when a voltage disturbance is detected. This paper shows the feasibility and usefulness of the proposed methods through the computer simulations and experimental results.

The concept of the natural frequency is useful for understanding the characters of oscillating systems. However, when a circular cylinder floating horizontally on the water surface is heaving, due to the hydrodynamic forces, the system is not governed by the equation like that of the harmonic one. In this paper, in order to shed some lights on the more correct use of the concept of the natural frequency, a problem of the heaving circular cylinder is analyzed in the frequency domain. Previously, it was thought that the theory of Ursell (1949) could not be used to get the added mass and wave-making damping for short waves, however, they were obtained by applying an accurate collocation method to the theory in this study. Using the so developed numerical method, we found the added mass and wave-making damping of the circular cylinder for the entire range of the frequency. Then, the MCFR(Modulus of Complex Frequency Response) was used to locate the frequency corresponding to the local maximum of MCFR and we define it as the natural frequency. Comparing our results with the previous investigation, we found that the pressure distribution on the cylinder gets close asymptotically to that of a cylinder in infinite fluid OR close to that of the cylinder, that the approximation of the natural frequency by Lee (2008) is different from our new value only by 0.64%, and that the approximation of the heaving system by an equivalent damped harmonic oscillation is not proper by the reason that is clearly shown from the comparison of the shape of the corresponding MCFRs.

A camera module is supported by a gimbal structure in collection equipment of image information. During flight, the gimbal system undergoes serious accelerations with wide frequencies. To get the correct images, the camera module must be stably vibrated under these conditions. If natural frequency unfortunately exists in a exciting frequency range, resonance occurs there. Hence, harmonic responses analysis is needed to know correct vibration characteristic of the gimbal system. Finite element analysis was performed to get an acceleration of the gimbal system by mode superposition after extracting mode shapes and natural frequencies. Considering damping ratio of 2%, the reponses of gimbal structure were calculated from excitations with a design frequency band. As results, a maximum acceleration transmissibility, which is the ratio of response to excitation, was obtained and it can be used to design the gimbal structure effectively.
This paper examines the dynamic response of rotating nanodevices under the external harmonic load. The spinning nanosystem is made of nanoscale tubes that rotate around the central nanomotor and is mathematically modeled via high-order beam theory as well as nonclassical nonlocal theory for the size impact. According to the Hamilton principle, the dynamic motion equations are derived, then the time-dependent results are obtained using the Newmark Beta technique along with the generalized differential quadratic method. The presented results are discussed dynamic deflection, resonant frequency, and natural frequency in response to the different applicable parameters, which help develop and produce nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) for various applications.

To provide model parameters for servo control system design, dynamic characteristics of a piezoelectric microactuator for hard disk drive(HDD) were investigated. At first frequency response characteristics was measured and a second order model was proposed. Here the amplitude dependent dynamic characteristics such as low frequency gain and damping ratio were studied. In addition, the load current and equivalent impedance of the piezoelectric actuator were measured by varying excitation voltage and frequency. At last, the super-harmonic resonance of the piezoelectric actuator was discussed.

The hydro-elastic system consisting of a pre-stretched highly elastic plate, compressible Newtonian viscous fluid, and the rigid wall is considered and it is assumed that on the plate a lineal-located time-harmonic force acts. It is required to investigate the dynamic behavior of this system and determine how the problem parameters and especially the pre-straining of the plate acts on this behavior. The elasticity relations of the plate are described through the harmonic potential and linearized (with respect to perturbations caused by external time-harmonic force) form of these relations is used in the present investigation. The plane-strain state in the plate is considered and the motion of that is described within the scope of the three-dimensional linearized equations of elastic waves in elastic bodies with initial stresses. The motion of the fluid is described by the linearized Navier-Stokes equations and it is considered the plane-parallel flow of this fluid. The Fourier transform with respect to the space coordinate is applied for a solution to the corresponding boundary-value problem. Numerical results on the frequency response of the interface normal stress and normal velocity and the influence of the initial stretching of the plate on this response are presented and discussed. In particular, it is established that the initial stretching of the plate can decrease significantly the absolute values of the aforementioned quantities.

One of the major threats to the stability of classical columns and colonnades are earthquakes. The behavior of columns under high seismic excitation loads is non-linear and complex since rocking, wobbling and sliding failure modes can occur. Therefore, three dimensional simulation approaches are essential to investigate the in-plane and out-of-plane response of such structures during harmonic and seismic loading excitations. Using a software based on the Distinct Element Method (DEM) of analysis, a three dimensional numerical study has been performed to investigate the parameters affecting the seismic behaviour of colonnades' structural systems. A typical section of the two-storey colonnade of the Forum in Pompeii has been modelled and studied parametrically, in order to identify the main factors affecting the stability and to improve our understanding of the earthquake behaviour of such structures. The model is then used to compare the results between 2D and 3D simulations emphasizing the different response for the selected earthquake records. From the results analysis, it was found that the high-frequency motion requires large base acceleration amplitude to lead to the collapse of the colonnade in a shear-slip mode between the drums. However, low-frequency harmonic excitations are more prominent to cause structural collapse of the two-storey colonnade than the high-frequency ones with predominant rocking failure mode. Finally, the 2D analysis found to be unconservative since underestimates the displacement demands of the colonnade system when compared with the 3D analysis.
