A Study on Knowledge Map Development Methodology Focused on Knowledge Acquisition (Knowledge 추출을 중심으로 한 Knowledge Map 작성 방법론에 관한 연구)

  • With the rapid changes of business environments and the tremendous amount of information generated from those environments, most companies must learn to manage those changes and information more effectively. Furthermore, within those amounts of information, the information that meets with achieving the goal of each company should be selected and managed as a core competency, i.e. the knowledge, visible and invisible assets of the company. Knowledge management, as a tool of creating, sharing, and applying such knowledge, has pursued those requirements of companies and been studied by many researchers and consultants, especially focusing on the Knowledge Map'. It is said that a knowledge map is a powerful tool for scanning and managing the knowledge that exists in a company and that it is the most important part of establishing a knowledge management base. Until now, however, there have been no specific or practical models for establishing a knowledge map, in spite of the concern. For this reason, this paper suggests a practical model for establishing a knowledge map in terms of a knowledge acquisition procedure based on the traditional research concerning concept maps. In addition to this, for examining the validity of the model, a case study on the 'P' steel and iron company has been performed. This paper's methodology on developing a knowledge map and the procedures to apply them to the real business environment will suggest a cornerstone in the field of practical implementation of knowledge management.

Real-time Soft Shadowing of Dynamic Height Map Using a Shadow Height Map (그림자 높이 맵을 이용한 실시간 그림자)

  • This paper introduces a novel real-time soft shadowing method applicable for height maps. As well as supporting self-shadowing of the height map, our method allows shadows to be caught on other objects. The method is very suitable for dynamically changing height maps because it requires no precomputation. A shadow height map (SHM) is a new structure which represents the height of the shadow at each discretized coordinate of a height map. Constructing the SHM is O(n), where n is the number of texels in the SHM. Shadow can be computed from this map quickly and simply, using a pixel shader. Examples demonstrate good real-time performance and plausible visual quality.

Adaptive MAP High-Resolution Image Reconstruction Algorithm Using Local Statistics (국부 통계 특성을 이용한 적응 MAP 방식의 고해상도 영상 복원 방식)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive MAP (Maximum A Posteriori) high-resolution image reconstruction algorithm using local statistics. In order to preserve the edge information of an original high-resolution image, a visibility function defined by local statistics of the low-resolution image is incorporated into MAP estimation process, so that the local smoothness is adaptively controlled. The weighted non-quadratic convex functional is defined to obtain the optimal solution that is as close as possible to the original high-resolution image. An iterative algorithm is utilized for obtaining the solution, and the smoothing parameter is updated at each iteration step from the partially reconstructed high-resolution image is required. Experimental results demonstrate the capability of the proposed algorithm.

  • We propose a new saliency map model for selecting an attended location in an arbitrary visual scene, which is one of the most important characteristics of human vision system. In selecting an attended location, an edge information can be considered as a feature basis to construct the saliency map. Edge filters are obtained from the independent component analysis(ICA) that is the best way to find independent edges in natural gray scenes. In order to reflect the non-uniform density in our retina, we use a multi-scaled pyramid input image instead of using an original input image. Computer simulation results show that the proposed saliency map model with multi-scale property successfully generates the plausible attended locations.

  • This paper proposes a 3D map-building algorithm using one LRF (Laser Range Finder) while a mobile robot is navigating on the slanted surface. There are several researches on 3D map buildings using the LRF. However most of them are performing the map building only on the flat surface. While a mobile robot is moving on the slanted surface, the view angle of LRF is dynamically changing, which makes it very difficult to build the 3D map using encoder data. To cope with this dynamic change of the view angle in build 3D map, IMU and balance filters are fused to correct the unstable encoder data in this research. Through the real navigation experiments, it is verified that the fusion of multiple sensors are properly performed to correct the slope angle of the slanted surface. The effectiveness of the balance filter are also checked through the hill climbing navigations.

  • The current drone flight plan creation creates a flight path point of two-dimensional coordinates on the map and sets an arbitrary altitude value considering the altitude of the terrain and the possible flight altitude. If the created flight path is a simple terrain such as a mountain or field, or if the user is familiar with the terrain, setting the flight altitude will not be difficult. However, for drone flight in a city where buildings are dense, a safer and more precise flight path generation method is needed. In this study, using high-precision spatial information, we construct a drone safety flight map with a 3D grid map structure and propose a flight path search algorithm based on it. The safety of the flight path is checked through the virtual drone flight simulation extracted by searching for the flight path based on the 3D grid map created by setting weights on the properties of obstacles and terrain such as buildings.

Methanolic Extract of Asterina pectinifera inhibits LPS-Induced Inflammatory Mediators in Murine Macrophage

  • This study aimed to elucidate anti-inflammatory activities from extracts of Asterina pectinifera on nitric oxide (NO) production, TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6 release in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated murine macrophage cell, RAW264.7. We prepared the methanolic extracts (60-MAP, 70-MAP, 80-MAP and 90-MAP), aqueous extract (W-AP) and functional bioactive compound fraction (He-AP and EA-AP) from Asterina pectinifera according to extract method. The 60-MAP, 70-MAP, 80-MAP, 90-MAP and W-AP were significantly suppressed LPS-induced production NO, TNF-${\alpha}$ and IL-6 secretion in a concentration-dependent manner (P < 0.05). Especially, 80-MAP by extracted 80% methanol had the strongest activity in reduction of inflammatory mediators among these extracts. Indeed, to identify active fraction, which contained potential bioactive compounds, from 80-MAP of Asterina pectinifera, we tested anti-inflammatory activity of the He-AP or the EA-AP. The He-AP was next extracted from 80-MAP and the EA-AP were extracted from the other methanol layer except the He-AP. The EA-AP demonstrated a strong anti-inflammatory effect through its ability to reduce NO production and it also inhibited the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-${\alpha}$ at low concentration. These results suggested that the methanolic extract from Asterina pectinifera had the potential inhibitory effects on the production of these inflammatory mediators.

Modified Local Color Transfer with Color Category Map (컬러 카테고리 맵을 이용한 수정된 지역적인 색변환)

  • Local color transfer is the process of assigning a given color to a local region in a target image. The local region that contains the given color has to be segmented. Conventionally, the segmentation of the corresponding local region in a target image is based on the color distance. The region which is the closest in color distance is separated. However, since the close range of color distance separating a given color from target image is ambiguous and uncertain, color distortion is often generated around a separated local region. Therefore, this paper addresses the problem of segmentation in a local color transfer. To prevent color distortion, a modified color influence map is proposed with color categories. First, the target image is roughly segmented using a color category map, which groups similar colors in color space. It restricts the color transfer to a specific color category according to a given color. Second, modified color influence map assigning different weight to lightness and chroma, respectively, is used instead of Euclidian color distance. Then, by combining a modified color influence map and color category map filtered with anisotropic diffusion, a local region that contains a given color can be segmented more strictly than conventional method.

Design and Implementation of Integrated MapServer Based on GML (GML 기반 통합 맵서버 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper designs and implements an integrated map server to produce an integrated map. Two requirements for the proposed map server are as follows. First, the system should support a customization of metadata to meet user's requirements. The map server designed here will predefine information such as representations, regions required for client-side processing in the metadata. This will allow users easily acquire an integrated map in the required form of clients. Second, the system should be able to support not only the integration of spatial data but also their non-spatial data. Fusion service is realized by using the concept of linking. The integrated map server suggested in this paper can improve the quality of the fusion service by integrating the results of the map servers according to user's requests. Our experiments shows that the integrated map server reduces the response time in web mapping environments.
