In this paper, we propose some nonparametric subset selection procedures for scale parameters based on rank-likes. The proposed procedures are compared to the Gupta-Sobel's parametric prcedure through a small-sample Monte Carlo study. The results show that the nonparametric procedures are quite robust for heavy-tailed distributions, but they have somewhat low efficiencies.

For the design of multivariable fuzzy control systems decomposition of control rules is a efficent inference method since it alleviates the complexity of the problem. In some systems, however, inference error of the Gupta's decomposition method is inevitable because of its approximate nature. In this paper we define indices of applicability which decides whether the decomposition method can be applied to a multivariable fuzzy system or not.

In this paper, we establish a theorem wherein we have obtained the image of modified H-transform under the fractional integral operator involving Foxs H-function. Three corollaries of this theorem have also been derived. Further, we obtain one interesting integral by the application of the third corollary. The importance of above findings lies in the fact that our main theorem involves Fox H-function which is very general in nature. The result obtained earlier by Tariq (1998) is a special case of our main findings.

This paper is devoted to study Ricci semi-symmetric lightlike hypersurfaces of an indefinite cosymplectic space form with structure vector field tangent to hypersurface. The condition for Ricci tensor of lightlike hypersurface of indefinite cosymplectic space form to be semi-symmetric and parallel have been obtained. An example of non-totally geodesic Ricci semi-symmetric lightlike hypersurface in $R^7_2$ have been given.

Gupta defined deadlocks in the blocks world and proved that decision making problem in the blocks world is NP-Complete. The types of deadlocks are classified and the properties of deadlocks are analyzed in this paper. The heuristic planner algorithm for the limited table-capacity blocks world using both the inverse position of the block and properties of deadlocks is designed and its performance is also evaluated.

In this paper, we investigate maximum transmission capacity of wireless ad-hoc networks. In the investigation, we consider a network topology with regularly located nodes. For the topology, we investigate the maximum transmission capacity with RTS/CTS medium access protocol, and next, we study the maximum transmission capacity without the protocol. We see that the results of our study overall follows the result of Gupta and Kumar's research.

We prove the following results: (1) Let R be a strongly euclidean semiring. Then an ideal A of $R_{n{\times}n}$ is a partitioning ideal if and only if it is a subtractive ideal. (2) A monic ideal M of R[$x$], where R is a strongly euclidean semiring, is a partitioning ideal if and only if it is a subtractive ideal.
