Double Mediating Effect of Subjective Well-being and Gratitude Disposition on Relationship between Stress and Feeling of Happiness among High School Students (고등학생의 스트레스와 행복감 간의 관계에서 주관적 웰빙과 감사성향의 이중 매개효과)

  • This study aims to identify the relationship between stress and feeling of happiness among high school students, and to examine the double mediating model of subjective well-being and gratitude disposition on that relationship. Participants of this study were 245 male and female high school students. Perceived Stress Scale, Satisfaction with Life Scale, Emotion Frequency Test, Gratitude Questionnaire-6, and Subjective Happiness Scale were used for this study. To analyse a sequential double mediating effect, PROCESS Macro 3.5 Model 6 was used. Results revealed that stress was negatively correlated with subjective well-being, gratitude disposition, and feeling of happiness among high school students. And, subjective well-being was positively correlated with gratitude disposition and feeling of happiness, while gratitude disposition was positively correlated with feeling of happiness. It was found that subjective well-being and gratitude disposition were sequentially mediating stress and feeling of happiness among high school students. Because these findings suggest that subjective well-being and gratitude disposition play important roles in adolescents' happiness, it is necessary to promote their subjective well-being and gratitude disposition.

A Mediating Effect of Interpersonal Competence and Gratitude Disposition to the Influence of Positive Psychology Capital on Happiness in Childcare Teachers (보육교사의 긍정심리자본이 행복감에 미치는 영향: 대인관계유능성과 감사성향의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore mediating effects of interpersonal competence, gratitude disposition between childcare teachers positive psychological capital and happiness. The subjects of the study were a total 231 Childcare in Seoul. The statistics program used to achieve the purpose was SPSS/PC+18.0. The statistics methods applied were pearson correlation coefficient, simple linear regression, and multiple linear regression. The major results of this study were summarized as follows: First, Positive psychological capital and interpersonal competence, and gratitude disposition from happiness was found to be positively correlated. Second, interpersonal competence had an affect on childcare teachers happiness. These effects are mediated in part by the control interpersonal competence showed. Third, gratitude disposition affects childcare teachers happiness. These effects are mediated in part by the gratitude disposition showed. These results suggest that dispositional gratitude and cognitive flexibility play an important role in the development of happiness for childcare teachers.

Effect of Gratitude Training Program on Dental Hygiene Students' Gratitude Disposition, Self-Esteem, and Happiness

  • The purpose of this study was to examine whether a gratitude training program for preservice dental hygienists affects their gratitude disposition, self-esteem, and happiness. Dental hygiene students were recruited from a college in D and administered a pretest. The 76 selected participants were primarily those who had never written a gratitude journal. Participants were then randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group. Three participants failed to complete the program, leaving 73 subjects in the final analysis. Data were analyzed using the ${\chi}^2$ test, independent sample t-test, and analysis of covariance. The mean gratitude disposition score improved from $31.11{\pm}5.55$ in the pretest to $34.41{\pm}4.38$ in the posttest in the experimental group and from $31.44{\pm}4.41$ to $32.06{\pm}4.63$ in the control group. The mean self-esteem score improved from $31.22{\pm}4.03$ to $33.16{\pm}3.44$ in the experimental group and from $30.53{\pm}4.42$ to $30.97{\pm}3.80$ in the control group. The mean happiness score improved from $19.54{\pm}2.64$ to $21.78{\pm}2.43$ in the experimental group and from $19.64{\pm}3.32$ to $20.08{\pm}2.91$ in the control group. All of the participants improved their gratitude disposition, self-esteem, and happiness scores while participating in the gratitude training program, and it is expected that if such positive emotions can be sustained, they will naturally acquire the basic requirements of dental hygienists and build a better vocational consciousness and a higher sense of duty, as well as have a further positive effect on the quality of dental medical service. Further studies should be conducted to propose a concrete plan to expand and operate this gratitude training program more effectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify whether the relationship between gratitude disposition and psychological well-being of college students shows a mediating effect of self-esteem The final 211 copies of the data were used in the analysis for the study, which was collected as students attending the university located in Group C. The data were statistically processed using SPSS 21.0 and the hierarchical regression analysis was performed to analyze the collected data. The results of the study are summarized as follows: Looking at the impact of the first-phase gratitude disposition on self-esteem, it was found that gratitude disposition was significant to self-esteem. Looking at the impact of the second-phase gratitude disposition on psychological well-being, gratitude disposition was significant to psychological well-being. Since the three-stage gratitude disposition was significant to psychological well-being, self-esteem can be seen to have partial medias. The results of this study confirmed that gratitude disposition was necessary as psychological resources to promote psychological well-being of university students, and self-esteem had a mediating effect. It is hoped that this research result will be used as a basis for the development of programs to improve gratitude disposition and self-esteem in order to promote the psychological well-being of college students.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out how employee's gratitude disposition affects Organizational Citizenship Behavior(OCB) and empirically validating multiple mediation effect of perceived organizational support(POS) and job satisfaction. For this study, an online survey has been conducted on office workers to analyze 380 sets of answers, reviewed reliability and validity through CFA and used SPSS 25.0, AMOS 25.0, Macro Process 3.0, a bootstrap method to test hypothesis. As a result, it is verified that an employee's gratitude disposition positively affects OCB, POS and job satisfaction and that there exists a multiple mediation effect of POS and job satisfaction. In this study, it is validated that an employee's gratitude disposition has a positive influence on OCB and an employee's gratitude disposition, an individual trait, is a related antecedent variable of POS. The result of this study is meaningful that it suggests boosting gratitude disposition, a positive psychological factor, in an organization can positively affect employees' job attitude and organization effectiveness.

The Effects of Pre-Service Early Childhood Teachers' Gratitude Disposition and Creative Personality on Teacher Professionalism (예비유아교사의 감사성향이 교사전문성에 미치는 영향: 창의적 인성의 매개효과)

  • This study aimed to find out how gratitude disposition and creative personality affect teacher professionalism in 384 pre-service early childhood teachers. Data were analyzed using descriptive statics, Pearson correlation, multiple regression, and Sobel test for mediating effect. The results of the study were as follows: First, the average value was high in the order of teaching professionalism, gratitude disposition, and creative personality of pre-service early childhood teachers. Second, there was a positive corelation between pre-service early childhood teachers' gratitude disposition and creative personality, gratitude disposition and teaching professionalism. Third, as a result of examining the relative effects of gratitude disposition and creative personality on teaching professionalism, persistance was found to be the strongest predictor among creative personality.

  • The purpose of this study was to review of the psychology experiment researches in gratitude and the definition of gratitude, the effects of gratitude on happiness and mental health was examined. And examine the effectiveness of the cognitive behavioral gratitude program on gratitude disposition and happiness for elementary school students. The subject group consists of 2 classes from the 5th grade at G elementary school in Daejeon. For the experimental group, total 10 sessions of a cognitive behavioral gratitude program were applied once a week for 10 weeks, while there's no special treatment to the control group, The result were as follows. Cognitive behavioral gratitude program is shown to very effective in improving on gratitude disposition and happiness for elementary school students.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of gratitude disposition of geriatric hospital employees on job satisfaction and life satisfaction, and the moderating effect of the gratitude diary experience. A total of 485 copies of the research questionnaire were selected for workers in four geriatric hospitals who are promoting campaigns related to the gratitude diary. For data processing, a simple or hierarchical regression analysis was performed using SPSS 26.0. As a result of the study, The gratitude disposition had a statistically significant effect on job satisfaction and life satisfaction. However, the effect of gratitude disposition on job satisfaction and life satisfaction and the moderating effect of the audit diary experience were not statistically significant. The purpose of this study is to develop programs for job satisfaction and life satisfaction of geriatric hospital employees and provide basic data on manpower management of geriatric hospital.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to find out the effect of gratitude enhancement program for freshman on pre-service early childhood teacher's gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction. Methods: 55 freshmen majoring in early childhood education were participated in this study. Twenty-eight of them were classified as an experimental group and made to go through gratitude enhancement program for freshman. Twenty-seven of them were classified as a control group. The gratitude enhancement program for freshman consisted of lectures on cognitive, affective and behavioral gratitude factors. To verify the effect of this program, the tests on gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction were carried out and the collected data were analyzed by ANCOVA. Results: The result of this study was that the gratitude enhancement program was effective for improving gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction of pre-service early childhood teachers. Conclusion/Implications: This study illustrated the need of gratitude enhancement program and its methodologies for pre-service early childhood teacher's college adjustment and persistence by improving gratitude disposition, empathic ability, and department satisfaction.

The Moderating Effect of Gratitude Disposition in the Relationship between Stress and Happiness in Nursing Students (간호대학생의 스트레스와 행복감의 관계에서 감사성향의 조절효과)

  • This study was conducted to examine the moderating effect of gratitude disposition as a link between stress and happiness in nursing students. The subjects were 275 nursing students at a university in G-Gun. Data were collected from October 4, 2018 to October 10, 2018 and analyzed by using hierarchical regression analysis. As a result, the final model (Model 3) in regression explained 26.2% of variance in happiness. Stress was an important factor influencing happiness. Stress ${\times}$ gratitude disposition interaction was significant for happiness after adjusting control variables. Gratitude disposition moderated the association between stress and happiness in nursing students. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an intervention program to reduce the stress and increase the gratitude disposition to enhance the happiness of nursing students.
