This paper presents a new vertex selection scheme for shape approximation. In the proposed method, final vertex points are determined by "two-step procedure". In the first step, initial vertices are simply selected on the contour, which constitute a subset of the original contour, using conventional methods such as an iterated refinement method (IRM) or a progressive vertex selection (PVS) method In the second step, a vertex adjustment Process is incorporated to generate final vertices which are no more confined to the contour and optimal in the view of the given distortion measure. For the optimality of the final vertices, the dynamic programming (DP)-based solution for the adjustment of vertices is proposed. There are two main contributions of this work First, we show that DP can be successfully applied to vertex adjustment. Second, by using DP, the global optimality in the vertex selection can be achieved without iterative processes. Experimental results are presented to show the superiority of our method over the traditional methods.
Thin-walled multicell box girders subjected to an eccentric load can be produced the three global behaviors of flexure, torsion, and distortion. But it is very difficult to evaluate each influences of major behaviors numerically. If we can decompose an eccentric load P into flexural, torsional, and distortional forces, we can execute quantitative analysis each influences of major behaviors. Decomposition of Applied Load for Thin-walled Rectangular multi-cell box girders is researched by Park, Nam-Hoi(Development of a multicell Box Beam Element Including Distortional Degrees of Freedom, 2003). But researches about thin-walled trapezoidal multi-cell section is insufficient. So, this paper deals with decomposition process and independent analysis method of multi-cell box girders include trapezoidal section.
Numerical schemes are routinely used to predict the behavior of continuous dynamical systems. All such schemes transform flows into maps, which can possess dynamical behavior deviating from their continuous counterparts. Here the common bifurcations of scalar dynamical systems are transformed under a class of algorithms known as linearized one-point collocation methods. Through the use of normal forms, we prove that each such bifurcation in an originating flow gives rise to an exactly corresponding one in its discretization. The conditions for spurious period doubling behavior under this class of algorithm are derived. We discuss the global behavioral consequences of a singular set induced by the discretizing methods, including loss of monotonicity of solutions, intermittency, and distortion of attractor basins.
In this paper, an extraction of depth intonation in pattern using neural network is presented. All the 3D images represent the depth information in grey pixels. This pixels which have analog values translated digital values. Because of the noise and distortion in pattern, we use the normalization in learning and recalling the patterns. Our method has eight direction vectors and slopes for pattern. Also, we use potential to obtain the mean slope and direction vectors of given 3D patches. The higher level of deduction finding the global depth information is also carried out by using neural network.
Multi-scaled retinex algorithm is generally used to enhance the local contrast and remove the illuminant component. However, if the chromatic distribution of an original image is not uniform and dominated by a certain chromaticity, the chromaticity of resulting image depends on the dominant chromaticity of the original image, thereby inducing the color distortion. In this paper, a modified multi-scaled retinex method to reduce the influence of the dominant chromaticity in the image is proposed using a average chromaticity of original image and global illuminant chromaticity. In addition, to compensate saturation, the chroma value of the resulting image is enhanced based on that of the original image in the CIELAB space.
This paper presents a novel localization paradigm for mobile robots based on artificial and natural landmarks. A model-based object recognition method detects natural landmarks and conducts the global and topological localization. In addition, a metric localization method using artificial landmarks is fused to complement the deficiency of topology map and guide to action behavior. The recognition algorithm uses a modified local Zernike moments and a probabilistic voting method for the robust detection of objects in cluttered indoor environments. An artificial landmark is designed to have a three-dimensional multi-colored structure and the projection distortion of the structure encodes the distance and viewing direction of the robot. We demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed system through real world experiments using a mobile robot, KASIRI-III.
In this paper, we propose an efficient two-step pattern matching method which promises shape distortion-tolerant recognition of handwritten of handwritten Hangul syllables. In the first step, nonlinear shape normalization is carried out to compensate for global shape distortions in handwritten characters, then a preliminary classification based on simple pattern matching is performed. In the next step, nonlinear pattern matching which achieves best matching between input and reference pattern is carried out to compensate for local shape distortions, then detailed classification which determines the final result of classification is performed. As the performance of recognition systems based on pattern matching methods is greatly effected by the quality of reference patterns. we construct reference patterns by combining the proposed nonlinear pattern matching method with a well-known averaging techniques. Experimental results reveal that recognition performance is greatly improved by the proposed two-step pattern matching method and the reference pattern construction scheme.

This paper concerned about a imputed color printed material image in camera to decrease noise and distortion by processing median filtering with input image to identical condition. Also this paper proposed the way of compares a normal printed material with an abnormal printed material color tone with trained a learning of the error back-propagation to block classification by extracting five place from identical block(3${\times}$3) of color printed material R, G, B value. As a representative algorithm of multi-layer perceptron the error Back-propagation technique used to solve complex problems. However, the Error Back-propagation is algorithm which basically used a gradient descent method which can be converged to local minimum and the Back Propagation train include problems, and that may converge in a local minimum rather than get a global minimum. The network structure appropriate for a given problem. In this paper, a good result is obtained by improve initial condition and adjust th number of hidden layer to solve the problem of real time process, learning and train.
