This study reviews and modifies general IS success models to find success factors of WIS(Web-based Information Systems) and to confirm the relationship between WIS success and user's satisfaction of web use. A WISSM(Web-based Information Success Model extended to include EQ(E-Quality) is developed to anticipate user's intention to use Web-based Agricultural Information System and fit into the survey data from 252 WIS users of RDA(Rural Development Administration). PLS is applied to estimate a structural model based on EQ-WISSM to test hypotheses including 1) users reach a high level of intention to use Web-based Information Systems when they feel a high level of interactivity among an 'E-Quality', 'Decision Making Support Satisfaction' and 'Task Support Satisfaction', and E-Quality boosts intention to use Web-based Information Systems. The results show high path coefficients and $R^2$ values and find followings; First, the EQ-WISSM explains the user's intention to use WAIS quite well. Second, E-Quality can be used well in web-based IS environment to predict IS Success. Finally, this research finds the importance of 'Task Support Satisfaction' as a mediator between 'Decision Making Support Satisfaction', 'E-Quality' and 'Intention to Use'.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to examine the causal relationships among hospital nursing organizational characteristics (organizational climate, workload), individual characteristics (experience, education) and outcome variables (job satisfaction, job stress, task performance) by constructing and testing a conceptual framework. Method: Five large general hospitals located in Seoul were selected to participated. The total sample of 245 registered nurses represents a response rate of 94 percent. Data for this study was collected from January to February in 2006 by questionnaire. Path analyses with LISREL program were used to test the fit of the proposed model to the data and to examine the causal relationships among variables. Result: Both the proposed model and the modified model fit the data excellently. The model revealed relatively high explanatory power of work stress (40%), job satisfaction (46%) and task performance (27%) by predicted variables. In predicting work stress, job satisfaction and task performance, the finding of this study clearly demonstrate organizational climate might be the most important variable. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, it was suggested that desirable organizational climate was needed to increase the nurses' mental and physical health as well as qualified task performance.
Growth in the outsourcing market signals that firms of all sizes believe outsourcing will ultimately deliver many benefits and conveniences. But there are not many firms satisfied with the results of outsourcing. What is more, previous researches were fragmentary analyses focused on specific variables of outsourcing such as sourcing decisions, partnership rather than comprehensive analysis. Thus, they could not propose general systematic methodologies applicable to the real situation. To solve these problems, we developed an integrated theoretical framework that considered both contract with the hard side and trust with the soft side from a contingency viewpoint and tested this model using 143 data of Korean companies executing outsourcing. In addition, we examined how situational factors(outsourcing task complexity and outsourcing management competence) affects each path in the research model. The results of this study are as follows. First, it was proved the theory that trust is not a substitute for contract but its complement. Previous empirical studies on outsourcing success factors were focused on the establishment of successful partnership on the assumption that trust can replace contract in many situations. According to the results of our empirical analysis, however, contract and trust were in a mutually complementary relation with each other and their emphasis was different. Furthermore, different from previous researches, it was found effective to use trust as a supplementary tool and contract as a main means in outsourcing management strategy. Second, this study provided an integrated view that sees both contract and trust from a contingency viewpoint in theoretically reestablishing the relationship between contract and trust. Previous researches leaned to specific variables or theory-centered fragmentary analysis, but this study proposed a more practical and integrated research model and tested its effectiveness. Based on the results, with the model, decision makers are expected to scrutinize outsourcing situation more closely and to have a practical insight to the situation. Third, it was found that contract mechanism and trust building do not have a direct effect on outsourcing performance but relationship management intensity mediates the effect of contract mechanism and trust building. This is considered significantly meaningful to outsourcing partners who have believed that outsourcing would be successful if a contract is made properly or trust is built. Lastly, the path from trust building to relationship management intensity was moderated by informed buying, as the path coefficients from trust building to relationship management intensity varied by the degree of informed buying competence.
Internal Control(IC) comprises the plan of organization and all of the coordinating methods and measures adopted in a business to safeguard its assets, check the accuracy and reliability of its accounting data, promote operational efficiency and encourage adherence to the prescribed managerial policies. If an organization's IC is not adequate, Accounting Information System (AIS) will be vulnerable to accomplish the organizations successes. Therefore, an effective and efficient IC is essential to its successes. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of EDP IC on the perceived usefulness of AIS. Do the general controls indirectively affect to the usefulness of AIS through th application controls? To solve these problems, a research model and a set of hypotheses were established and empirically tested. 60 financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, security companies) agreed to participate in the study. Data were gathered through structured interviews with 60 information systems managers and 537 users of accounting information of each company. Survey forms were designed and collected from financial institutions in Seoul. Information systems' managers of financial institutions responded to questionnaire(1) which consists of a series of 70 questions related to practice and perceived importance. Questionnaire (2) was received from 537 users, who responded to series of 17 questions related to the perceived usefulness. The results of analysis are summarized below. Effects of general controls are more direct on AIS's usefulness than those of application controls. Whereas, indirect effects of application controls are geater than those of general controls. Therefore, the greater the effects of application controls on general controls, the higher the perceived usefulness of AIS. In conclusion, this study supports that the perceived usefulness of AIS is affected by IC which are composed of general controls and application controls. The results of this study has significant implication to financial institution as computer fraud potential increases. Because of global competitions, financial institutions should restructure to IC and AIS in order to take advantage of the technological progress in Information System.
Purpose: Present study was designed to examine the casual relationships among web service quality, customer satisfaction, initial trust and off-line visit intention in hospital website. Research object was limited to web service quality of general hospital. We applied path analysis model in order to test the hypotheses and research model. Methods: Survey tool, that is, Questionnaire had obtained validity through literature survey, exploratory survey and pretest and sample 320 was selected. For statistical treatment of pretest and main analysis, SPSS18.0 and AMOS18.0 were employed and Structural equation model was employed as analysis method. Results: Result of this study shows as follows. Factors of web service quality have an effect on customer satisfaction and initial trust, both of customer satisfaction and initial trust have an effect on off-line visit intention. Also customer satisfaction affects initial trust. Especially, customer satisfaction and initial trust were empirically confirmed as the important factors preceding off-line vis it intention. Conclusion: Therefore, present study shows that customer satisfaction and initial trust are important factors that medium and small size hospitals have to emphasize to raise performance. However, present study has some limitations to additionally research in the future.
This paper deals with a coal supply planning problem for power plants. We propose a mathematical optimization model to make decisions for coal pile sections, movement of reclaimers, and operation time of conveyor belts. The objective of the proposed model is to minimize the total operation time of conveyor belts and total movement time of reclaimers. The algorithm firstly selects a pile section by considering both the location of reclaimers and the stock amount on that pile section. And then the shortest path from the selected pile section has to be put into the operation schedule and check whether the total operation time is satisfied. Then finally the new schedule is updated. To this end, we have tested the proposed algorithm comparing with the general standard optimization package for the simplified problem SCSPP. From the numerous test runs for comparing with the existing coal supply scheduling methods, We see that the proposed model may improve the coal supply operation by reducing significant coal supply costs.
Purpose: The purposes of the study were to examine whether nurses' followership style influence organizational effectiveness and to test the model of organizational effectiveness including the factors of nursing organizational culture, leadership style, and followership style. Methods: Data were collected from July 10th to september 20th in 2006 from 451 nurses working in four acute care hospitals. Data analysis were performed by Chi-square test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson Correlation, and maximum likelihood estimation, using the SAS and LISREL 8.30 program. Results: The findings showed that the types of nurses' followership were classified as passive (21.1%), alienated (8.2%), conformist (16.4%), pragmatist (35.9%), and effective style (18.4%). There was significant difference in the organizational effectiveness among the nurses with different followership styles. In testing the path model, transformational, transactional leadership directly influenced followership style. Followership directly influenced organizational effectiveness. Conclusion: The overall fitness of the model was good, evidenced by general fitness index (GFI)=.94, adjusted goodness of fitness index (AGFI)=.82, and root mean square residual (RMSEA)=.06. Based on the findings, it is recommended to develop a program for enhancing effective followership in nursing organization.
Multiperiod portfolio selection problem attracts more and more attentions because it is in accordance with the practical investment decision-making problem. However, the existing literature on this field is almost undertaken by regarding security returns as random variables in the framework of probability theory. Different from these works, we assume that security returns are uncertain variables which may be given by the experts, and take absolute deviation as a risk measure in the framework of uncertainty theory. In this paper, a new multiperiod mean absolute deviation uncertain portfolio selection models is presented by taking transaction costs, borrowing constraints and threshold constraints into account, which an optimal investment policy can be generated to help investors not only achieve an optimal return, but also have a good risk control. Threshold constraints limit the amount of capital to be invested in each stock and prevent very small investments in any stock. Based on uncertain theories, the model is converted to a dynamic optimization problem. Because of the transaction costs, the model is a dynamic optimization problem with path dependence. To solve the new model in general cases, the forward dynamic programming method is presented. In addition, a numerical example is also presented to illustrate the modeling idea and the effectiveness of the designed algorithm.
This paper surveys some researches to accomplish on bioinformatics. These researches wish to propose a database architecture combining a general view of bioinformatics data as a graph of data objects and data relationships, with the efficiency and robustness of data management and query provided by indexing and generic programming techniques. Here, these invert the role of the index, and make it a first-class citizen in the query language. It is possible to do this in a structured way, allowing users to mention indexes explicitly without yielding to a procedural query model, by converting functional relations into explicit functions. In the limit, the database becomes a graph, in which the edges are these indexes. Function composition can be specified either explicitly or implicitly as path queries. The net effect of the inversion is to convert the database into a hyperdatabase: a database of databases, connected by indexes or functions. The inversion approach was motivated by their work in biological databases, for which hyperdatabases are a good model. The need for a good model has slowed progress in bioinformatics.
This study aims to develop a restoration model of an armillary sphere of Tongcheon-ui (Pan-celestial Armillary Sphere) by referring to the records of Damheonseo (Hong Dae-Yong Anthology) and the artifact of an armillary sphere in the Korean Christian Museum of Soongsil University. Between 1760 and 1762, Hong, Dae-Yong (1731-1783) built Tongcheon-ui, with Na, Kyung-Jeok (1690-1762) designing the basic structure and Ann, Cheo-In (1710-1787) completing the assembly. The model in this study is a spherical body with a diameter of 510 mm. Tongcheon-ui operates the armillary sphere by transmitting the rotational power from the lantern clock. The armillary sphere is constructed in the fashion of a two-layer sphere: the outer one is Yukhab-ui that is fixed; and the inner one, Samsin-ui, is rotated around the polar axis. In the equatorial ring possessed by Samsin-ui, an ecliptic ring and a lunar-path ring are successively fixed and are tilted by 23.5° and 28.5° over the equatorial ring, respectively. A solar miniature attached to a 365-toothed inner gear on the ecliptic ring reproduces the annual motion of the Sun. A lunar miniature installed on a 114-toothed inner gear of the lunar-path ring can also replay the moon's orbital motion and phase change. By the set of 'a ratchet gear, a shaft and a spur gear' installed in the solstice-colure double-ring, the inner gears in the ecliptic ring and lunar-path ring can be rotated in the opposite direction to the rotation of Samsin-ui and then the solar and lunar miniatures can simulate their revolution over the period of a year and a month, respectively. In order to indicate the change of the moon phases, 27 pins were arranged in a uniform circle around the lunar-path ring, and the 29-toothed wheel is fixed under the solar miniature. At the center of the armillary sphere, an earth plate representing a world map is fixed horizontally. Tongcheon-ui is the armillary sphere clock developed by Confucian scholars in the late Joseon Dynasty, and the technical level at which astronomical clocks could be produced at the time is of a high standard.
