NAND flash memory (NFM) based storage devices, e.g. Solid State Drive (SSD), are rapidly replacing conventional storage devices, e.g. Hard Disk Drive (HDD). As NAND flash memory technology advances, its specification has evolved to support denser cells and larger pages and blocks. However, efforts to fully understand their impacts on design objectives such as performance, power, and cost for various applications are often neglected. Our research shows this recent trend can adversely affect the design objectives depending on the characteristics of applications. Past works mostly focused on improving the specific design objectives of NFM based systems via various architectural solutions when the specification of NFM is given. Several other works attempted to model and characterize NFM but did not access the system-level impacts of individual parameters. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first work that considers the specification of NFM as the design parameters of NAND flash storage devices (NFSDs) and analyzes the characteristics of various synthesized and real traces and their interaction with design parameters. Our research shows that optimizing design parameters depends heavily on the characteristics of applications. The main contribution of this research is to understand the effects of low-level specifications of NFM, e.g. cell type, page size, and block size, on system-level metrics such as performance, cost, and power consumption in various applications with different characteristics, e.g. request length, update ratios, read-and-modify ratios. Experimental results show that the optimized page and block size can achieve up to 15 times better performance than the conventional NFM configuration in various applications. The results can be used to optimize the system-level objectives of a system with specific applications, e.g. embedded systems with NFM chips, or predict the future direction of NFM.

Smartphones have been widely used for various purposes and stay connected with people at all times. However, the use of such touchscreen devices can be physically restricted depending on users' context where only one hand is available to interact with the device. Even major smartphone manufacturers (e.g., Apple, Samsung) offer one handed mode, they still lack functions in the third-party applications, and the process is also complicated. We propose OverIT, a system that enables users to customize interfaces by adding new buttons on an interactive overlay which can be positioned anywhere on the touchscreen where each button serves the same functionality as an existing one. It is designed to support users to map a certain button event freely and easily to a newly created button by performing a demonstration of a button tap. We expect our system to improve the overall user experience of one-handed interaction with touchscreen devices.
The constant correlation factors between the Temkin and the Langmuir or the Frumkin adsorption isotherms of over-potentially deposited hydrogen (OPD H) for the cathodic H2 evolution reaction (HER) at poly-Pt and Re/0.5M $H_2SO_4$ and poly-Ni/0.05 M KOH aqueous electrolyte interfaces have been experimentally and consistently found using the phase-shift method. At intermediate values of the fractional surface coverage $(\theta),\;i.e.,\;02<{\theta}<0.8$, the Langmuir and Temkin adsorption isotherms of OPD H for the cathodic HER are correlated to each other even though the adsorption conditions or processes are different from each other. At the same range of $\theta$, correspondingly, the Frumkin and Temkin adsorption isotherms of OPD H for the cathodic HER are correlated to each other. The equilibrium constants $(K_o)$ for the Temkin adsorption isotherms $({\theta}\;vs.\; E)$ are consistently ca. 10 times greater than those (K, Ko) for the corresponding Langmuir or Frumkin adsorption isotherms ($({\theta}\;vs.\; E)$. The interaction parameters (g) for the Temkin adsorption isotherms $({\theta}\;vs.\; E)$ are consistently ra. 4.6 greater than those (g) for the corresponding Langmuir or Frumkin adsorption isotherms $({\theta}\;vs.\; E)$. These numbers (10 times and 4.6) can be taken as constant correlation factors between the corresponding adsolftion isotherms (Temkin, Langmuir, Frumkin) at the interfaces. The Temkin adsorption isotherm corresponding to the Langmuir or the Frumkin adsorption isotherm, and vice versa, can be effectively verified or confirmed using the constant correlation factors. Both the phase-shift methodand constant correlation factors are useful and effective for determining or confirming the suitable adsorption isotherms (Temkin, Langmuir, Frumkin) of intermediates for sequential reactions in electrochemical systems.
The phase-shift method for determining the Langmuir, Frumkin, and Temkin adsorption isotherms ($\theta_H\;vs.\;E$) of H for the cathodic $H_2$ evolution reaction (HER) at a Pt/0.1 M KOH solution interface has been proposed and verified using cyclic voltammetric, differential pulse voltammetric, and electrochemical impedance techniques. At the Pt/0.1 M KOH solution interface, the Langmuir and Temkin adsorption isotherms ($\theta_H\;vs.\;E$), the equilibrium constants ($K_H=2.9X10^{-4}mol^{-1}$ for the Langmuir and $K_H=2.9X10^{-3}\exp(-4.6\theta_H)mol^{-1}$ for the Temkin adsorption isotherm), the interaction parameters (g=0 far the Langmuir and g=4.6 for the Temkin adsorption isotherm), the rate of change of the standard free energy of $\theta_H\;with\;\theta_H$ (r=11.4 kJ $mol^{-1}$ for g=4.6), and the standard free energies (${\Delta}G_{ads}^{\circ}=20.2kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for $k_H=2.9\times10^{-4}mol^{-1}$, i.e., the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, and $16.7<{\Delta}G_\theta^{\circ}<23.6kJ\;mol^{-1}$ for $K_H=2.9\times10^{-3}\exp(-4.6\theta_H)mol^{-1}$ and $0.2<\theta_H<0.8$, i.e., the Temkin adsorption isotherm) of H for the cathodic HER are determined using the phase-shift method. At intermediate values of $\theta_H$, i.e., $0.2<\theta_H<0.8$, the Temkin adsorption isotherm ($\theta_H\;vs.\;E$) corresponding to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm ($\theta_H\;vs.\;E$), and vice versa, is readily determined using the constant conversion factors. The phase-shift method and constant conversion factors are useful and effective for determining the Langmuir, Frumkin, and Temkin adsorption isotherms of intermediates for sequential reactions and related electrode kinetic and thermodynamic data at electrode catalyst interfaces.
The storage stabilities of immunoliposomes incorporated with variable amounts of ganglioside $G_{M1}$ were investigated as a function of time. temperature. and composition by observing absorbance of visible light and calcein release. In the column chromatographe, the layer of unsaturated PE(dioleoylphosphatidylethanolamine : DOPE). unable to form stable liposomes at physiological temperature and pH, were formed when palmitoyl-immunoglobulin G(IgG) $(2.5{\times}10^{-4}\;mol/DOPE\;mol)$ added. The incorporation of ganglioside $G_{M1}$ into immunoliposome. enhanced the stabilities of bilayers during the extended period of storage. The turbidities of immunoliposomes coated with ganglioside $G_{M1}$ exhibited the maximum near 20 mol% $G_{M1}/DOPE$ mol. probably because of the disturbance of the bilayer characteristics, i.e., layer transition or reorientation of interaction sites. At low temperature. the higher stability was achieved than at elevated temperatures. After one week of storage. the redispersed liposomal solutions at lower temperatures maintained the original elution patterns in chromatography but broader distribution at elevated temperatures. During the storage, it is suggested the aggregation is the more dominant phenomena for liposomes kept at $5^{\circ}C$ than the fusion. while he fusion is at elevated temperatures.
The nature and physical environments of SNRs are diverse, and for this reason, the understanding of the properties of nearby SNRs is useful in interpreting the emission from SNRs in remote galaxies where we cannot resolve them. In this regard, the LMC is a unique place to study SNRs due to its proximity, location, and composition compared with our galaxy. We carried out a multi-wavelength study of SNR N63A in the LMC, a young remnant of the SN explosion of one of the most massive (> 40 Msun) stars in a cluster. It is currently expanding within a large H II region formed by OB stars in the cluster and engulfing a molecular cloud (MC). As such, N63A is a prototypical SNR showing the impact of SN explosion on the cluster and its environment. Its morphology varies strongly across the wave bands, e.g. the size in X-ray is three times larger than in optical. However, the bright optical nebula would correspond to a MC swept up by the SNR, and consequently the interaction SNR-MC is limited to the central portion of the SNR. We aimed to study the overall structure of N63A, using near-IR imaging and spectroscopic observations to obtain the physical parameters of the atomic shocks, and also to understand how the SNR- MC interaction works and reveal the structure of the shocked cloud as well as the consequences of the impact of the SNR shock on the MC, comparing information obtained in different wavelengths.

The three-way rotational crossing experiment has been conducted to evaluate heterosis effects on jumping height and body weight. Yonakuni wild mice (Y) and two genetic groups of $CF_{{\sharp}1}$ (C) and C3H/HeNCrj (H) laboratory mice were used as materials. Reciprocal rotational crossing was made by crossing C male${\times}$Y female and Y male${\times}$C female to produce basic group designated $G_0$ and ${G_0}^{\prime}$, respectively. The females of the $G_0$ and ${G_0}^{\prime}$ were mated to the H sire to produce second generation ($G_1$ and ${G_1}^{\prime}$), and at the following generation the replacement females were mated to Y or C sire according to the basic group to produce $G_2$ to $G_3$ and ${G_2}^{\prime}$ to ${G_3}^{\prime}$. Individual jumping height data at Wk6 and body weight data at 1 (Wk1), 3 (Wk3), 6 (Wk6) and 10 (Wk10) weeks of age were analyzed. The results showed that effects of genetic group, sex and interaction of genetic group by sex were significant (p<0.01) for jumping height. For males, 55.34%~79.17% and 54.46%~78.29% of heterosis were reached at $G_1$ to $G_3$ and ${G_1}^{\prime}$ to ${G_3}^{\prime}$, respectively. While for females at $G_1$ to $G_3$ and at ${G_1}^{\prime}$ to ${G_3}^{\prime}$, heterosis effects were 61.53%~80.42% and 47.79%~85.86%, respectively. For body weight, genetic group was a significant source of variation at all ages studied. Sex effect was significant at Wk3, Wk6 and Wk10, and interaction between genetic group and sex was significant at Wk6 and Wk10 (p<0.01). C sires resulted in the highest body weight of offspring, while H sires were the intermediate and Y sires were the lightest. The significant positive and negative heterosis effects for body weight were exhibited. Crossing involved the Y sires in addition to smaller maternal effects of Y dams tended to result in small heterosis.
Six steers of each breed type, Hereford ($H{\times}H$), Brahman ($B{\times}B$) and Brahman $\times$ Hereford ($B{\times}H$) were ranked on liveweight and allocated to three treatments, basal hay diet (Basal), Basal plus 1 kg/head/day of cottonseed meal (Basal + CSM) and Basal plus 1 kg/head/day of formaldehyde-treated sunflower meal, $Norpro^{(R)}$ (Basal + NPO). The hay was made from a pasture based predominantly on carpet grass (Axonopus affinus) growing in subtropical New South Wales, and had an estimated organic matter digestibility of 52% and a nitrogen (N) content of 7.8 g/kg dry matter (DM). The steers were accustomed to the Basal diet over 15 days and supplements offered over 42 days. Intake of the basal hay diet by steers was not increased by supplementation. When intakes were adjusted for differences between breed types in liveweight the $B{\times}H$ steers ate 25% (P<0.01) more hay than $H{\times}H$ steers (6.3 V 5.0 kg/head/d) and $B{\times}B$ steers ate 8% less hay than $H{\times}H$ steers. Supplementation significantly (P<0.01) increased liveweight gain during the experiment, being ($g/head/d\;{\pm}\;s.e.d.$) 290, 770 and $795{\pm}118$ respectively for Basal, Basal + NPO and Basal + CSM. There was no difference between supplements in the liveweight gain of steers nor between steers of different genotypes. However, there was a significant interaction (P<0.01) between breeds and treatments such that $B{\times}B$ steers gained most on the basal diet but least of the breed types when supplemented. The estimated non-degradeable fraction of N in the protein meals was 58.5 and 44.5%, respectively for NPO and CSM. Both meals increased (P<0.01) plasma urea N and rumen ammonia N concentrations.

The success of establishing the Indonesian growing fast hybrid carp, namely "Permata", on a controlled environmental test must be followed up with a large-scale test. This study aims to evaluate the phenotypic performance of the Permata hybrid carp in multi-locations with different cultivation systems. The test sites consisted of floating net cages, running-water ponds, semi-concrete ponds, earthen ponds, fully concrete ponds, and static net cages. For 90 days, fish were fed commercial pellets with a 28%-30% protein content. At the end of the test, all fish were harvested and counted. Data on length, weight, survival rate, and harvested biomass were used to analyze the effect of genotype, environment, and their interaction on the phenotypic performance. The growth based on final weight is used to analyze the stability performance in each test location. The results showed that the length and weight of common carp were significantly affected by genotype and the environment, but not by the interaction of both. The genotype, environment, and the interaction of both factors affected common carp's survival and harvested biomass. Common carp reared in floating net cages generally had the best performance, while carp reared in fully concrete tanks and static net cages had the lowest. The growth stability analysis showed that the common carp in this study were unstable genotypes but have a broad adaptability in term of different environments.
