  • In this paper, we apply one of modified Genetic Algorithms, a Multi-population Genetic Algorithm(MGA) that improves the genetic diversity to determine the fuzzy rule base and the shape of membership functions. The generation of the fuzzy rule base for fuzzy control, generally, depends on expert's experience. We suggest a new evaluation function to optimize fuzzy rule base. Simulation shows that the proposed method has good result.

  • A rule weight -based fuzzy classification model is proposed to analyze the patterns of admission-discharge of patients as a previous research for differential diagnosis of dyspnea. The proposed model is automatically generated from a labeled data set, supervised learning strategy, using three procedure methodology: i) select fuzzy partition regions from spatial distribution of data; ii) generate fuzzy membership functions from the selected partition regions; and iii) extract a set of candidate rules and resolve a conflict problem among the candidate rules. The effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy classification model was demonstrated by comparing the experimental results for the dyspnea patients' data set with 11 features selected from 55 features by clinicians with those obtained using the conventional classification methods, such as standard fuzzy classifier without rule weights, C4.5, QDA, kNN, and SVMs.

  • As a modeling method where the merits of fuzzy inference system and evolutionary computation are put together, evolutionary fuzzy modeling performs global approximate optimization. The paper proposes fuzzy clustering as fuzzy rule generation process which is one of the most important steps in evolutionary fuzzy modeling. With application of fuzzy clustering into the experiment or simulation results, fuzzy rules which properly describe non-linear and complex design problem can be obtained. The efficiency of evolutionary fuzzy modeling can be improved utilizing the membership degrees of data to clusters from the results of fuzzy clustering. To ensure the validity of the proposed method, the real design problem of an automotive inner trim is applied and the global approximation is achieved. Evolutionary fuzzy modeling is performed for several cases which differ in the number of clusters and the criterion of rule selection and their results are compared to prove that the proposed method can provide proper fuzzy rules for a given system and reduce computation time while maintaining the errors of modeling as a satisfactory level.

  • It is proposed, for fuzzy combustion control system of refuse incinerator to find the relationship between inputs and outputs and to generate rules to control by using rough set theory. It is not easy to find out the corresponding inputs for each output and the control rules with incomplete or imprecise information consisting expert knowledge, process and manipulator values in the field, and operation manual for the given system. Most decision problems can be formulated employing decision table formalism. A decision table on fuzzy combustion control system for refuse incinerator is simplified and produces control(rules). The I/O realtions and the control rules found by rough set theory are compared with the previous result.

  • The important problem in designing a Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) is generation of fuzzy control rules and it is usually the case that they are given by human experts of the problem domain. However, it is difficult to find an well-trained expert to any given problem. In this paper, I describes an application of genetic algorithm, a well-known global search algorithm to automatic generation of fuzzy control rules for FLC design. Fuzzy rules are automatically generated by evolving initially given fuzzy rules and membership functions associated fuzzy linguistic terms. Using genetic algorithm efficient fuzzy rules can be generated without any prior knowledge about the domain problem. In addition expert knowledge can be easily incorporated into rule generation for performance enhancement. We experimented genetic algorithm with a non-trivial vehicle controling problem. Our experimental results showed that genetic algorithm is efficient for designing any complex control system and the resulting system is robust.

  • In this paper, an approach to identify fuzzy rules is proposed. The decision of the optimal number of fuzzy rule is made by means of fuzzy c-means clustering. The identification of the parameters of fuzzy implications is carried out by use of genetic algorithms. For the efficinet and fast parameter identification, the reduction thechnique of search areas of genetica algorithms is proposed. The feasibility of the proposed approach is evaluated through the identification of the fuzzy model to describe an input-output relation of Gas Furnace. Despite the simplicity of the propsed apprach the accuracy of the identified fuzzy model of gas furnace is superior as compared with that of other fuzzy modles.

  • A Fuzzy Classifier which deals with very confusing objects is proposed. Naturally this classifier heavily relies on the nulti-feature decision-making procedure. For a simple example, this classifier is applied to the recognition of confusing handwritten numerals 4,6 and 9 The characteristic variables used in this paper are the existence of a loop and the relative location of the starting or ending points(SEP). Thus each sample of handwritten numerals 4, 6 and 9 is classified in one of the 6 groups which are divided according to the sample structure. Each group has its own classifying rules. Also the method of rule-generation using genetic algorithms in each group is proposed.

  • In the paper, a new design method of rule-based fuzzy modeling is proposed for model identification of nonlinear systems. The structure indentification is carried out, utilizing fuzzy c-means clustering. Fuzzy-neural networks composed back-propagation algorithm and linear fuzzy inference method, are used to identify parameters of the premise and consequence parts. To obtain optimal linguistic fuzzy implication rules, the learning rates and momentum coefficients are tuned automatically using a modified complex method.

  • the objective of this study is to design and evaluate a methodology for diagnosing the appendicitis in a fuzzy neural network that integrates the partition of input space by fuzzy entropy and the generation of fuzzy control rules and learning algorithm. In particular the diagnosis of appendicitis depends on the rule of thumb of the experts such that it associates with the region, the characteristics, the degree of the ache and the potential symptoms. In this scheme the basic idea is to realize the fuzzy rle base and the process of reasoning by neural network and to make the corresponding parameters of the fuzzy control rules be adapted by back propagation learning rule. To eliminate the number of the parameters of the rules, the output of the consequences of the control rules is expressed by the network's connection weights. As a result we obtain a method for reducing the system's complexities. Through computer simulations the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified for the diagnosis of appendicitis.

  • This research provides the results of a trial to generate the chaos by using nonlinear function constructed by fuzzy inference rules. The chaos generation function or chaotic behavior can be obtained by using Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model with some constraint of the relationship of its parameters. Two examples are shown in this research. The first is simple example that construct of logistic image by fuzzy model. The second is more complicated one that provide the chaotic time series by non-linear autoregression based on fuzzy model. Simulated results are shown in these examples.
