Rotordynamic design of a turbogenerator supported by air foil bearings (공기포일베어링에 지지된 터보제너레이터의 회전체동역학적 설계)

  • This paper shows the rotordynamic characteristics of a turbo-generator for a BOP of a fuel cell system. The rotor-bearing system consists of magnetic shaft and compressor-turbine shaft, and the two shafts are connected by spline coupling and supported by oil free air foil bearing. Preliminary design according to several parameter is considered in detail. Static and dynamic characteristics of the AFB are estimated by the soft elasto-hydrodynamic analysis technique and the perturbation method. The results of the natural frequencies, mode shape, and unbalance response analysis are presented.

  • The solenoid valve used in fuel cell system need to have good sealing performance because the work fluid can explode in the system. Moreover, the temperature of the work fluid is extremely high in order to maintain the properties of the rubber ring that seals the solenoid valve. This study deals with the rubber ring which is made from a fluoro-elastomer. The life cycle of the rubber ring was estimated by the relational expression of Arrhenius, and the solenoid valve was tested to confirm the sealing characteristics.

  • A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) based hybrid desiccant cooling system model is developed to study the effect of fuel utilization rate of the SOFC on the reduction of energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission. The SOFC-based hybrid desiccant cooling system consists of an SOFC system and a Hybrid desiccant cooling system (HDCS). The SOFC system includes a stack and balance of plant (BOP), and HDCS. The HDCS consists of desiccant rotor, indirect evaporative cooler, electric heat pump (EHP), and heat exchangers. In this study, using energy load data of a commercial office building and SOFC-based HDCS model, the amount of ton of oil equivalent (TOE) and ton of $CO_2$ ($tCO_2$) are calculated and compared with the TOE and $tCO_2$ generation of the EHP using grid electricity.

  • The molten carbonate fuel tell(MCFC) is endowed with the high potential especially in future electric power generation industry by its own outstanding characteristics. KEPCO(KEPRI) started a 100 kW MCFC system development program in 1993 and has been executed 100kW system develpilot plant successfully completed first phaseopment by 2005 on the basis of successful results of 25kW system development. In this program, the components and mechanical structure for 100 kW stack and system construction were completed on last year and now system pre-commissioning was being executed. A 100 kW MCFC power plant was constructed at the site of Boryeong Thermal Power Plant. A 100 kW MCFC system has characterized as a high pressure operation mode, $CO_2$ recycle, and externally reforming power generation system. The 100 kW MCFC system consisted with stacks which was made by two 50 kW sub-stacks, 90 cells with 6,000 cm2 active area and BOP including a reformer, a recycle blower, a catalytic burner, an inverter, and etc. The system will be operated under 3 atm pressure condition and expected to last over 5,000 hours by the end of this year.

  • 고분자전해질형 연료전지의 구조 및 구성품의 물성에 따른 성능 및 물이동 현상에 관해서 많은 연구가 진행되고 있다, 이들 연구는 대체적으로 연료 전지의 BOP(Balance of plant)를 포함하는 연료전지 시스템에 관한 연구 보다는 단위 전지 및 스택에 관한 연구에 국한되어 왔다. 연료전지의 시스템에 관한 연구들 또한 세부적인 연료전지 내부의 거동에 대해서는 고려하지 않고 있었다. 이는 연료전지의 상세 모델을 이용해 연료전지 시스템에 대해 접근하기 보다는 시스템의 성능 및 동특성에 대한 연구가 주를 이루었기 때문으로 생각된다. 본 연구에서는 연료전지 음극의 수소 배출가스를 재순환할 경우 연료전지 내부에서의 거동에 미치는 영향에 대해 2차원 정상상태 모델을 이용하여 분석해 보았다. 또한 재순환된 수소에 의한 연료전지 내부 거동의 변화 및 수소 이용율 상승 효과를 연료 전지 성능과 함께 비교해 보았다 이를 위해 2차원 정상상태 모델을 개발하였고 이를 실험을 통해 검증하는 작업을 수행하였다. 여기에 사용된 연료전지 모델은 Gore社 의 $PRIMea^{(R)}$을 사용한 연료전지의 성능을 잘 예측하고 내부의 유동 및 물이동 현상에 관한 정보를 제공한다. 이는 여러 하이브리드 자동차용 연료전지 시스템이 연료전지 배출가스의 재순환을 고려하고 있는 상황에서 연료전지 작동 조건의 최적화에 유용한 정보를 제공 할 수 있다는 의의를 가진다.
