  • The cavitation-induced fluctuating pressure of the container ship named "Sydney Express" is measured in Samsung Large Cavitation Tunnel(SCAT). In the measurements, a complete ship model is employed. The effects of thrust coefficient and cavitation number on cavity pattern and cavitation-induced fluctuating pressure were investigated experimentally. It is demonstrated that the fluctuating pressure coefficient is very sensitive to the cavitation number. The results of cavitation and pressure fluctuations are compared with those of ITTC and HSVA, which shows fairly good agreement. It is exhibited that the removal of rudder can significantly change the loading condition of a propeller, and can reduce the fluctuating pressure coefficient almost by half.

  • Recently, distributed generation using renewable energy resources have increased due to the limitation of conventional energy. To utilize these energy source effectively, a method of applying the energy storage system(ESS) in distribution system has been considered. In this paper, we simulated the one line-to-ground fault in power system with ESS. Based on these simulations, we analyzed the effect on Over Current Relay(OCR) operation. As a result, ESS operation modes result fault current fluctuation. Thus, OCR need to reset the pick up current. This paper analyze effect of ESS in distribution system according to OCR setting by using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program(EMTP).

  • Experiments were conducted in a large-scale Ward-type tornado simulator to study tornado-like vortices. Both flow velocities and the pressures at the surface beneath the vortices were measured. An interpretation of these measurements enabled an assessment of the mean flow field as well as the mean and fluctuating characteristics of the surface pressure deficit, which is a manifestation of the flow fluctuation aloft. An emphasis was placed on the effect of the aspect ratio of the tornado simulator on the characteristics of the simulated flow and the corresponding surface pressure deficit, especially the evolution of these characteristics due to the transition of the flow from a single-celled vortex to a two-celled vortex with increasing swirl ratio.

  • The test facility of the 1/60-scale models for the train-tunnel interactions was recently developed to investigate the effects of entry portal shapes, hood shapes and air-shafts for reducing the micro-pressure waves radiating to the surroundings of the tunnel exits by KRRI in Korea. The launching system of train model was chosen as air-gun type. In present test rig, after train model is launched, the blast wave by the driver did not enter to inside of the tunnel model. The train model is guided on the one-wire system from air-gun driver to the brake parts of test facility end. Some cases of the experiments were compared with numerical simulations to prove the test facility.

  • In recent times, multi-centralization and decentralization as well as large Capital area and suburbanization in the spatial structure of capital area. With rapid growth, urbanization and industrialization are unsystematic, and growth inequality between regions caused negative effects such as discordant centralization and decentralization, fluctuating land value, and gap between living conditions. Accordingly, this study analyzed urban spatial indexes by the self-governed body in the capital area such as Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi province for the analysis of the regional inequality phenomenon. We examined the characteristics of temporal and spatial changes in urban spatial structure in the capital area by utilizing the distribution pattern and density of city indexes such as population, employment, etc, and then drew the commonality of those factors through factor analysis. We evaluated the drawn results through the city standard index by each city, conducted factor score analysis, and identified the interaction between each factor and Housing Purchase Price Composite Indices index, housing rent price index(Housing Jeonse Price Composite Indices), land price fluctuation rate, diffusion ratio of house, and financial independence.

  • This article describes the numerical investigation of blood flow in the stenosed artery bifurcation with acceleration of the human body. Using the commercial software FLUENT, three-dimensional analyses were performed for six simulation cases with different body accelerations and bifurcation angles. The blood flow was considered to be pulsation flow, and the blood was considered to be a non-Newtonian fluid based on the Carreau viscosity model. In order to consider periodic body acceleration, a modified, time-dependent, gravitational-force term was used in the momentum equation. As a result, flow variables, such as flow rate and wall shear stress, increase with body acceleration and decrease with bifurcation angle. High values of body acceleration generate back flow during the diastolic period, which increases flow fluctuation and the oscillatory shear index at the stenosis.

  • Gas flow field within the cylinder which is called a tumble flow is important factor in improving lean combustion stability. In this study, steady state flow tests were performed to quantify tumble ratio of flowfields generated by a tumble intensifying valve(TIV). In addition, velocity and fluctuation profiles in an intake port and flowfields in th cylinder were inspected using a hotwire anemometer and a laser light sheet method with various TIV configurations. These experimental results show that installated TIV has a great effect on flow field distribution in an intake port and test effects enhance a tumble flow in the cylinder.

  • We study the effects of phonon interaction on the superconducting pairing in the high $T_c$ superconductors (HTSC). Using coupled BCS gap equations, we found that phonon interaction can induce a s-wave component to the d-wave gap, mediated by Antiferromagnetic (AFM) spin fluctuations, in the (D+iS) form. However, $T_c$ is not enhanced compared to the pure d-wave pairing without phonon interaction. On the other hand, anisotropic phonon interaction can dramatically enhance the d-wave pairing and $T_c$ itself, together with the AFM spin fluctuation interaction. This ($D_{AFM}+D_{ph}$) type pairing exhibits strongly reduced isotope coefficient despite the large enhancement of $T_c$ by phonon interaction.

  • This paper investigates the effects of outdoor pressure fluctuations on natural ventilation through openings of a building envelope. The ventilation airflow rate depends on the magnitude and the period of the pressure fluctuations, the size of the opening compared to the space volume, and the resistance characteristics of the opening. Non-dimensional parameters have been derived, which determine indoor pressure responses due to outdoor pressure fluctuations. The flow regions are categorized into synchronized region, opening resistance region, and transition region depending on the non-dimensional parameters.
