In this study, we measured the power and temperature of the floating horizontal solar cell in a coastal lagoon and compared with those of ground solar cell and water platform solar cell. Because the bottom surface of the floating horizontal solar cell was contacting the water, cooling effect was expected stronger than other cells. As a result of the measurement, the power of floating horizontal cell was 11.7% higher than that of the ground cell and 15% higher than that of the water platform cell. During the measurement, it was observed that water waves were continuously flowed on the top surface of floating horizontal cell by the wind, and it could be assumed that the cooling effect occurred not only on the bottom surface of the cell but also on the top surface. In order to analyze the cooling effect and power increasing of the horizontal cell in the wave situation, we measured power and temperature of the cell while generating artificial waves in a laboratory equipped with Zenon lamp as a solar simulator. At the height of thewater surface, the power of the cell with waves was 3.7% higherthan without waves and temperature was 4.6℃ lower. At 1 cm and 2 cm below the watersurface, power of the cell with waves was decreased by 14% and 11% than without waves while temperature was same . At 3 cm below the water surface, there was no effect of waves.
Floating solar power markets are rapidly growing worldwide. The main policy instrument utilized to expand renewable energy use in foreign countries with many floating solar power installations is Feed-in-Tariffs (FITs). Foreign countries apply FIT to projects that have a secured grid connection, and lately, there has been a change in the direction of introducing or expanding auction systems. Vietnam and Taiwan give higher FIT to floating solar installations than land solar ones, and China, Vietnam, and Taiwan have higher FITs for certain regions. Compared to foreign countries where large-scale floating solar power installations have been installed, Korea has utilized Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) weights for residents' participation are provided additionally under the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS). In contrast to Korea, where residents' participation and benefit profit sharing are emphasized, the Netherlands provides opportunities for local residents to participate in floating solar power projects through cooperatives to improve the residents' acceptance.

Information presented in this study is intended to inform candidates as they prepare to design and structure the floatovoltaics solar power system. A developed floatovoltaics solar power generation results from the combination of PV plant technology and PV floating technology. This floating-based PV system is a new concept for PV development. The PV floating technology opens new opportunities to give value to unused areas so far while preserving valuable land for more adapted activities. Therefore the land-use conflicts are avoided and the environmental impact is minimized. Therefore the technology offers an interesting opportunity to regions facing on drought during summer time without any negative impact to the eco-system. This study describe the basic components of a floatovoltaics solar power system. A typical system consist of floating system and solar modules, a control device, rechargeable batteries, a load or device and the associated electrical connections. The floating system is specifically designed to keep all metallic components above water leaving only 100% recyclable, closed cell foam filled HDPE plastic floats in contact with the water. As the first case that can maximize the power generation efficiency of PV internationally, it is expected that this study will be utilized as a primary guide for future development of floating type PV system.

Korea government aims to generate 20 percent of its electricity with clean, renewable energy by 2030, while reducing its reliance on fossil fuel and nuclear power plants. Technically, solar energy has resource potential that far exceeds the entire global energy demand. Solar energy industry has experienced phenomenal growth in recent years due to both technological improvements resulting in cost reductions and government policies for renewable energy development and utilization. Even though solar power generation has several advantages over other forms of electricity generation, the major problem is the requirement of land which is scarcely available in the local site and its cost. This study analyzes the available capacity of landing and floating solar plants for the case of chonnam province in korea. The results of design capacity show about 7.5GW for landing and 1.5GW for floating solar power plant. Also, with a purpose to comprehend intention-behaviour gap about acceptance of solar community, the solutions are suggested.

Solar power has the largest proportion of power generation and facility capacity among renewable energy in South Korea. Floating solar power plant is a new way to resolve weakness of land solar power plant. This study analyzes the power generation of the 18.7 MW floating solar power project located in Saemangeum, Gunsan-si. Since the solar power generation has a characteristic that is greatly affected by the climate, various methods have been applied to predict solar power generation. In general, variables necessary for predicting power generation are solar insolation on inclined surfaces, solar generation efficiency, and panel installation area. This study analyzed solar power generation using the monthly solar insolation data from the KMA (Korea Meteorological Administration) over the past 10 years. Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) was applied to predict the solar power generation with the variables including solar panel efficiency and insolation. In the case of Saemangeum solar power project, the most solar power generation was in May, the least was in December, the average solar power generation simulated on MCS is 2.1 GWh per month, the minimum monthly power generation is 0.3 GWh, and the maximum is 5.0 GWh.

The most powerful energy resource in nature is solar energy which becomes directly converted to electric power in worldwide. Most of the photovoltaic power plants are commonly installed on sunny side of the ground. Thus the installation of photovoltaic power plant could produce an unexpected adverse effect by sacrificing the productivity from green field or forest. To avoid these adverse effect floating photovoltaic plant has been devised and installed on inland reservoir. The photovoltaic plant could utilize ignored water surface without sacrificing the productivity of the ground. Additionally the photovoltaic efficiency has been reenforced by the cooling effect induced by the circulating air flow from water surface. The floating photovoltaic plant could be furnished solar tracking ability by tilting the system operated with the aid of the ballast system. This report is provided to introduce the design of the floating structure with solar panel which furnished solar tracking ability with the aid of ballast system.
The rapid expansion of industrialization and population growth worldwide has led to a significant surge in energy demand, perpetuating heavy reliance on finite fossil fuel reserves. Although prevailing policies primarily target ground-mounted solar photovoltaics, there is a noticeable increase in the adoption of floating solar power generation systems on water surfaces. Nonetheless, adequate studies and legislative reviews on offshore solar photovoltaics in Korea are lacking. The absence of well-defined criteria for the economic analysis of floating solar photovoltaics presents hurdles to their economic feasibility. This study conducted a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis of offshore photovoltaics to evaluate their economic viability and compared four types of solar photovoltaics based on the operating area and technology: ground-mounted, floating on inland water, pontoon-based offshore, and flexible system offshore. Perspectives from both central and local government entities, emphasizing social aspects, as well as inputs from private companies with a financial focus were considered. The findings revealed variations in economic viability depending on the operating area and technology employed. This study aims to contribute to the advancement of market maturity and technology within the realm of offshore solar photovoltaics.
Renewable energy sources play a key role in achieving carbon neutrality and zero net emissions in the power generation sector. Various efforts have been made to support the deployment of renewable energy, particularly solar photovoltaic and wind power, including policies to internalize the external cost of carbon emissions. In this study, we conducted a financial analysis of a 800 MW floating photovoltaic system and compared it with ground solar power generation. Additionally, we conducted a cost-benefit analysis that included the social cost of carbon. The findings showed that the floating photovoltaic project can meet the profitability target through an appropriately designed internalization of the social cost of carbon.
Floating solar photovoltaic (hereinafter PV) power generation is emerging as a proper alternative to overcome various environmental limitations of existing offshore PV generation. However, more government-led policy design and technical and institutional development are still required. Based on the policy agenda setting theory and technological innovation theory, this study contains the research questions concerning the co-evolution of technology and the floating solar PV policy. This study primarily evaluates the technological and institutional development level of floating solar PV policy through a survey of domestic floating solar PV experts. Secondly, we also analyze the kind of policy agenda that should be set a priori. Analyzing the priorities to be considered, the first environmental enhancement needs to be considered from both the technical and institutional aspects. The second candidate task for the policy agenda is residents' conflict and improvement of regulations. Both candidate tasks need to be actively considered in the policy agenda from the institutional point of view. The third is publicity, profit sharing, follow-up monitoring, and cost. Among them, public relations and profit sharing are tasks that need to be considered in the policy agenda from the institutional point of view. On the other hand, the cost of follow-up monitoring should be considered as a policy agenda in terms of technology, system, and common aspects. Finally, there are technical standards. Likewise, technical standards need to be considered in the policy agenda in terms of both technical and institutional commonality.
