This study was performed to determine the effects of filling materials on the physical properties of permeable polymer concrete. The filling materials were ground calcium carbonate, ground granulated blast furnace slag and fly ash. In this experiment, permeable polymer concrete mixtures with unsaturated polyester resin contents from 5 to 7 weight %, filler/resin ratio of 0~2.0 and crushed coarse aggregate passing 15 mm sieve were prepared and coefficient of permeability, void ratio, compressive strength and flexural strength were tested. As the test results, increase in the strength and decrease in the coefficient of permeability of the permeable polymer concrete were generally observed with increasing the resin contents and filler/resin ratio. The compressive and flexural strength of the permeable polymer concrete were in the range of 8.0 to 35.0 MPa and 2.0 to 9.0 MPa respectively and the highest strength was shown at the mixtures with 7 weight % unsaturated polyester resin contents, 2.0 ratio of filler/resin and filler of ground calcium carbonate. On the other hand, in the level of 20 MPa compressive strength, the mixtures with filler of fly ash was shown as the most economic permeable polymer concrete.
This study was conducted as the basic research for the replacement of Blast Furnace Slag, Red Mud, Silica Fume, etc., with cement as a solution to the problems arising from the global warming caused by the generation of $CO_2$, and conducted the experimental review to examine the feasibility of matrix having properties identical to those of cement by using the Blast Furnace slag, Red mud, Silica fume, and alkali-activator. For this, by using the the inorganic binder, such as Blast Furnace Slag, Red Mud, Silica Fume, etc., and NaOH, $Na_2SiO_3$ and others as the cement substitute material, the strength characteristic according to the mixture time variation was performed in the tentative experiment. Based on the preceding experiment, this study performed the experiment to analyze the strength properties of hardener through the curing by air-dry temperature, curing by temperature in water, coating curing, and Korean paper curing. For the water curing at $80^{\circ}C$, the compressive strength and flexural strength were found to be the most excellent at the age of the 28th day, and furthermore, it was found that the non-cement hardener could be made, which is considered to affect the production of eco-friendly concrete.

Concrete is a semi-brittle material, so its compressive strength is high but its tensile strength is low. The use of fiber-reinforced concrete to improve the disadvantages of such concrete can be an effective way to toughen effective toughness, and the performance is improved by using steel fiber reinforced concrete for structures that are vulnerable to bending forces. However, alternative materials are required due to corrosion of steel fiber and lowering of workability. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the availability of replacing steel fiber reinforced concrete by evaluating physical properties, mechanical properties and drying shrinkage properties of concrete using macro forta fiber with excellent diffusibility. Experimental results show that the macro forta fiber has better fluidity and mechanical performance than the steel fiber reinforced concrete. It was also confirmed that the crack resistance of concrete using Macro Forta fiber is effective in improving structural cracking and drying shrinkage resistance compared to steel fiber reinforced concrete.

The purpose of this study is to develop a new seismic resistant method by using precast concrete wall panels for existing low-rise, reinforced concrete beam-column buildings such as school buildings. Three quasi-static hysteresis loading tests were performed on one unreinforced beam-column specimen and two reinforced specimens with U-type precast wall panels. The results were analyzed to find that the specimen with anchored connection experienced shear failure, while the other specimen with steel plate connection principally manifested flexural failure. The ultimate strength of the specimens was determined to be the weaker of the shear strength of top connection and flexural strength at the critical section of precast panel. In this setup of U-type panel specimens, if a push loading is applied to the reinforced concrete column on one side and push the precast concrete panel, a pull loading from upper shear connection is to be applied to the other side of the top shear connection of precast panel. Since the composite flexural behavior of the two members govern the total behavior during the push loading process, the ultimate horizontal resistance of this specimen was not directly influenced by shear strength at the top connection of precast panel. However, the RC column and PC wall panel member mainly exhibited non-composite behavior during the pull loading process. The ultimate horizontal resistance was directly influenced by the shear strength of top connection because the pull loading from the beam applied directly to the upper shear connection. The analytical result for the internal shear resistance at the connection pursuant to the anchor shear design of ACI 318M-11 Appendix-D, agreed with the experimental result based on the elastic analysis of Midas-Zen by using the largest loading from experiment.
Ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) has been developed to overcome the low strengths and brittleness of conventional concrete. Considering that UHPC, owing to its composition and the use of steel fibers, develops a compressive strength of 180 MPa as well as high stiffness, the top flange of the steel girder may be superfluous in the composite beam combining a slab made of UHPC and the steel girder. In such composite beam, the steel girder takes the form of an inverted-T shaped structure without top flange in which the studs needed for the composition of the steel girder with the UHPC slab are disposed in the web of the steel girder. This study investigates experimentally and analytically the flexural behavior of this new type of composite beam to propose details like stud spacing and slab thickness for further design recommendations. To that goal, eight composite beams with varying stud spacing and slab thickness were fabricated and tested. The test results indicated that stud spacing running from 100 mm to 2 to 3 times the slab thickness can be recommended. In view of the relative characteristic slip limit of Eurocode-4, the results showed that the composite beam developed ductile behavior. Moreover, except for the members with thin slab and large stud spacing, most of the specimens exhibited results different to those predicted by AASHTO LRFD and Eurocode-4 because of the high performance developed by UHPC.

In this study, the concrete, in which the steel fiber(SF) with different volume-surface ratios and lengths was intermixed in High flowing Self-Compacting Concrete(HSCC), was produced to compare with steel fiber reinforced concrete as a part of plan to improve the workability and the quality of steel fiber reinforced concrete. As the result of experiment, the flowing and passing characteristics of HSCC intermixed with SF was highly improved as there was no fiber ball phenomenon due to the effect of high flowability and the viscosity, and in the identical range of compressive strength, it showed the tendency that the splitting and flexural strength was increasing as the length was getting longer regardless of volume-surface ratio when compared with HSCC which was intermixed with SF. It is estimated that in case of application of HSCC intermixed with steel fiber to work sites, it would be possible to improve the workability and the quality which would be better than that of steel fiber reinforced concrete which has been used.
This study applied elastic supports in order to evaluate load carrying capacity using measurement data obtained from load tests actively and utilizing various evaluation methods. In order to confirm the adequacy of structural analysis based on elastic supports and to improve the reliability of experiment results, we conducted a deflection test with flexural beams prepared as overhanging beams and, based on the results, performed precision safety diagnosis for real bridges under public service for improving the load carrying capacity evaluation method for bridges under public service. In the results of the bending test, compared to deflection calculated by the existing method, deflection obtained by applying elastic supports was closer to the actually measured deflection. In the results of evaluating load carrying capacity for a 3 span continuous steel box girder bridge just after its completion, load carrying capacity by elastic supports was smaller by up to 39% than that by the existing method. When the load carrying capacity of bridges is evaluated by the existing method the results vary among engineers due to lack of guidelines for evaluation such as the application of stress modification factor. This study was conducted as an effort to solve this problem through active research.
Most bridge piers were practically designed and constructed with lap spliced longitudinal reinforcing steels before the 1992 seismic design provisions of Korea Bridge Design Specification were implemented. It has been known that lap splice of longitudinal reinforcement in the plastic hinge region is not desirable for seismic performance of RC bridge piers. The objective of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of existing circular reinforced concrete bridge piers by the Quasi-static test and to propose the need of seismic retrofit of existing bridge piers through the damage level. Test specimens were nonseismically designed with the aspect ratio 4.0 which could induce the flexural failure mode. It was confirmed from this experiment that significant reduction of seismic performance was observed for test specimens with lap spliced longitudinal reinforcing steels. Pertinent seismic retrofit was determined to be needed for existing RC bridge piers with the lap-spliced of $50\%$ longitudinal reinforcing steels.

This paper presents the results of experimental investigations on the shear failure behaviors of reinforced concrete beams using ductile fiber reinforced cementitious composite (DFRCC). Total 10 RC beams of $150{\times}300{\times}1,000mm$ size were tested by 4-point bending under the displacement control. The main parameters of the experiment are surface treatment by grinding and preloading to the cracking point in the repair process. The load-displacement curves, diagonal tension cracking load, flexural cracking load, and shear strength were obtained. The test results showed that the DFRCC can be used effectively for restoring the shear strength approximately 99% to the original value under the condition that the appropriate thickness and surface treatment like grinding are assured. For further research, the specimens taken from real deteriorated structures will need to be tested after being repaired with DFRCC.
The purpose of this study is to develop composite structural system which is to have versatility in plan design and to improve economical efficieney, to maximise structural capacity than existing structural system. In this viewpoint, it was investigated to the properties of structural behaviors for i oint consisting of concrete filled steel square tube column and P.C reinforced concrete beam through a series of hysteretic behavior experiment. In the previous report, researched to the properties of joints with key parameters. such as Axial Force ratio and section types. From the based on previous results, this study investigated the properties of this joints with key parameters, such as strength of concrete, size of panel zone and Axial Force ratio. The obtained results are summarised as follows. (1) Investigating for the failure mode of the beam-to-column joint, the specimens of S,LL and LH series(except for L5H) presented flexural failure mode. (2) The initial stiffness of joint was increasd as the decrease of axial force ratio and increase of the concrete strength. (3) The rotation resisting capacity was effective as the increment of the concrete strength and decrement of the axial force ratio. (4) The emprical formula to predict the ultimate capacity of joint model to introduce decrease coefficient according to the axial force ratio to superimpose shearing strength of steel web(H section) and bending strength of reinforced concrete beam was expected.
