  • The automated material handling systems today are playing ever more important roles in semiconductor/LCD fabrication facilities. Recently they became more flexible, intelligent, and speedy than in the past. The facilities have been fully automated because the size and weight of the unit loads used in the facilities were being increased beyond the limits that a human operator can handle. This research develops an efficient procedure to streamline the delivery of unit loads by the automated material handling system (AMHS). For this task, the research employs the event scheduling theory that has been successfully used in the both academia and industry. The developed procedure was applied to an actual LCD fabrication facility and improved the performance of an existing material handling system.

  • Objectives : The conventional removable appliance, composed of wires and acrylic resin, had unaesthetic results and poor retention. The flexible denture, as an alternative, presents improved aesthetics with the thin and strong resin retentive area. In addition, it also enhances patients' sensory function as a result of decreased volume of denture base. The flexibility of the flexible denture reduces the possibility of fracture and distributes the masticatory forces transmitted to the abutments and residual bone tissue. This report describes a 10-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy with oligodontia treated with the flexible dentures as an alternative to conventional removable appliances. Methods : Impression was taken using alginate material and sent to a laboratory with the bite for fabrication of the flexible denture. Prior to try-in, the flexible denture was immersed in water at $90^{\circ}C$ for one minute and cooled. Impinging area of the denture was checked by $Fit-Checker^{(R)}$ and removed and the denture was delivered to the patient. Results : Both patients were satisfied with the flexible dentures, which presented improved retention and aesthetics. Conclusion : For patients with oligodontia, flexible dentures can be considered as a treatment of choice, which may replace the conventional denture.

  • In this study, a model for the simulation of the material flow not only inside a robot cell with flexible handling sequence but also between robot cells is presented. A method for the connection of special simulation programs has been developed and a logic model between a real system and a simulation system is employed.

  • Recently, flexible denture is widely used with some advantages such as esthetics, flexibility and biocompatibility. However, there is an opposite opinion about stability because of the movement of denture by the material's flexibility. As the denture moves to tissue surface during mastication, it irritates the supporting tissue. It can lead to trauma and rapid resorption of residual ridges if this irritation lasts for a long time. In this case, the patient has used flexible denture with insufficient stability, retention and support for several years and thus continuous irritation of the supporting tissue resulted in palate bone exposure. The patient discomfort and palate bone exposure underwent improvements by the new denture with stability and retention. A careful case selection for flexible denture, regular checkup and proper treatment are necessary to prevent the side effects.

  • The PET-PEN copolymers have been synthesized and the effect of their morphology on the physical properties of polyester flexible substrate was investigated. It was found that the block sequence of synthesized copolymer was varied depending upon DMT/NDC ratio in polymerization. Higher PET-PEN and PEN block sequence in polyester copolymer resulted in the increase of glass transition temperature and it caused the enhancement of dimensional stability as a polyester flexible substrate. The highest coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) was obtained when DMT/NDC ratio is 50/50. Synthesized PET-PEN copolymer seems to be acceptable as a flexible substrate since it shows that their optical transmittance at 550 nm is over 80% and thermal weight loss at $280^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr is less than 0.4 wt%.

  • Recent necessities of research have emerged about soft interconnection technologies for stable electric connections in flexible electronics. Mechanical failure in conventional metal solder interconnection can be solved as soft interconnections based on a small elastic modulus and a thin thickness. To enable stable electric connection while improving mechanical properties, highly conductive materials be thinned or mixed with a material that has a small elastic modulus. Representative soft interconnection technologies such as thin-film metallization, flexible conductive adhesives, and liquid metal interconnections are presented in this paper, and be focused on mechanical/electric properties improving strategies and their applications.

  • Electronic products utilizing flexible devices experience harsh mechanical deformations in real-use environments. As a result, researches on the mechanical reliability of these flexible devices have attracted considerable interest among researchers. This study employed previous bending strain models and finite element analysis to predict the maximum bending strain of metal films deposited on flexible substrates. Bending experiments were simulated using finite element analysis with variations in the material and thickness of the thin films, and the substrate thickness. The results were compared with the strains predicted by existing models. The distribution of strain on the surface of film was observed, and the error rate of the existing model was analyzed during bending. Additionally, a modified model was proposed, providing mathematical constants for each case.

  • Graphene was fabricated onto Ni/Si substrate using a rapid-thermal pulse CVD and they were transferred onto the Ti/PES flexible substrate. For top electrode applications of the BMNO dielectric films, graphene was patterned using a argon plasma. Through an AFM image and a leakage current density of the BMNO films grown onto various bottom electrodes before and after bending test, BMNO films grown onto the graphene bottom electrode showed no change of the microstructure and the leakage current density after the bend.
