  • Music Summarization is to extract there presentative section of a song such as chorus or motif. In previous work, the length of music summarization was fixed, and the threshold to determine the chorus section was so sensitive that the tuning was needed. Also, the rapid change of rhythm or variation of sound effects make the chorus extraction errors. We suggest the linear regression for extracting the changeable length and for minimizing the effects of threshold variation. The experimental result shows that proposed method outperforms conventional one.

A Study of Matimum Run-up Heights of Periodic Waves (주기파의 최대 처오름높이에 관한 연구)

  • The maximum run-up heights of periodic waves are numerically investigated in this study. Incident waves are sinusoidal and enoidal waves. The maximum run-up height of enoidal wave approaches that of sinusoidal wave as the wave length decreases, while it approaches that of solitary wave as the wave length increases. If wave height is fixed, the maximum run up heights of enoidal waves are always greater than those of sinusoidal waves but smaller than those of solitary waves.

  • Mesiobuccal or distobuccal canals of maxillary molars and mesiobuccal or mesiolingual canals of mandibular malars were selected. Forty specimens were divided into four groups according to the instruments used : stainless steel K-files($MANI^{\circledR}$, Matsutani Seisakusho Co. Takanezawa, Japan), nickel-titanium K-files (Naviflex $NT^{TM}$, Brassler, Savannah, U.S.A.), $Profile^{\circledR}$, and $ProTaper^{TM}$ (Dentsply-Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). Occlusal surface of each tooth and root apex were flattened by using diamond burs and sandpaper. Before instrumentation, a rubber stop was fixed with glue to the #10 K-files of initial working length in each tooth.(omitted)

  • Sensitivity analyses for several seismic source models were studied. For the area sources, the hazard is steeply decreasing with the source-to-site distance. Hazard is decreasing when the area of the source is increasing with fixed annual rate. For the fault sources, the fault length, distance from a site and dip angle of near fault show very sensitive effect to seismic hazard. But the various magnitude-rupture length relationships show effect to seismic hazard slightly. For the fault source with small magnitude, the exponential model is preferred rather than the characteristic model to the magnitude-recurrence law.

  • In piping systems, trapeze hangers are subjected to vertical and horizontal seismic loads and stiffeners are used. In this study, monotonic compression tests were conducted with the removable stiffeners using three variables: stiffener clamp fixing position, section length, and installation direction. The maximum load reinforced with stiffeners could withstand a compressive load of 11kN by applying a safety factor of 10%. It could be estimated that the fixing clamp spacing or the length of shape and load had a proportional relationship. And the stiffener must be fixed in the direction of the strong axis on hinge parts. Also the stiffener buckiling load design proposes to use a method of calculate the flexural buckling compressive strength of and unreinforced full threaded bolt.

  • A capacity expansion planning problem with buy-or-lease decisions is considered. Demands for capacity are deterministic and are given period-dependently at each period. Capacity additions occur by buying or leasing a capacity, and leased capacity at any period is reconverted to original source after a fixed length of periods, say, lease period. All cost functions (buying, leasing and idle costs) are assumed to be concave. And shortages of capacity and disposals are not considered. The properties of an optimal solution are characterized. This is then used in a tree search algorithm for the optimal solution and other two algorithms for a near-optimal solution are added. And these algorithms are illustrated with numerical examples.

  • In this paper, we consider the implementation of connected digit recognition system using tree structured lexicon model. To implement efficiently the fixed or variable length digit recognition system, finite state network (FSN) is required. We merge the word network algorithm that implements the FSN with lexical tree search algorithm that is used for general speech recognition system for fast search and large vocabulary systems. To find the efficient modeling of digit recognition system, we investigate some performance changes when the lexical tree search is applied.

  • In this paper, we described a design of the input buffer system for efficiently dealing with MPEG audio bitstream to demux header and side information, audio data. In order to overcome the limitations of fixed-word manipulation in bitstream demuxing, we proposed a new variable length bit retrieval system with FSM sequencer supporting MPEG audio frame format, and serial buffer demuxing audio stream, FIFO circular buffer including header and side information.

  • This paper presents an inventory model with partial backorders for the situation in which demand is deterministic, lead time follows normal distribution and back order ratio during the stockout period varies in proportion to the length of backorder period In this situations, an objective function is formulated to minimize a time-proportional backorder cast and a fixed penalty cost per unit lost. And then the procedure of iterative solution method for the model is developed to find optimal reorder paint and order quantity and a numerical example to illustrate the proposed method is presented.

  • 본 논문에서는 프레임 메모리를 줄이는 간이형 비디오 디코더의 다섯가지 알고리즘을 연구하여 성능을 비교한다. fixed-length ADPCM 기법을 적용하여 메모리를 줄이는 알고리즘과 수평 방향으로 decimation 하는 방법, 그리고 DCT 계수를 filtering 하는 방법을 구현하고 이보다 더 압축률을 높여서 수평 방향으로 decimation 하거나 DCT 계수를 filtering 하는 방법에 ADPCM 기법을 결합한다. 이렇게 함으로써 원래의 비디오 디코더 프레임 메모리의 25% 까지 메모리를 줄일 수가 있다. 메모리 크기를 줄이는 이점 이외에, 하나의 비디오 디코더 구조가 몇가지 압축 모드를 구성하므로 원하는 복잡도와 메모리 크기에 따라 응용이 자유롭다.
