The main purpose of this study was to analyze and identify factors related to changes in visual acuity of primary school students over one year period. The data for this study were collected from 980 students in the first to fifth grades of one elementary school located in Koyang City, Kyungki Province. The visual acuity tests of students and self reported questionnaires for the students and their parents were administered in 1995 and 1996. The data were analyzed by using SAS PC. The results of the study were as follows. 1. Visual acuity in both eyes is significantly lower in girls than in boys. 2. Overall visual acuity of the students decreased over the one year. Notably, decreases in visual acuity were statistically significant during the transition from the first to the second grade and from the third to the fourth grade. 3. Students with visual acuity ranging from 0.4 to 0.7 and those above 1.0 in 1995 showed a significantly lower acuity in 1996 than other students. 4. Students who needed glasses in 1995 showed significantly lower visual acuity in 1996 than those without glasses. 5. Other factors related to visual acuity are lights in the classroom, difficulty reading a blackboard, posture of children while watching TV, and distance from the TV set. Some of these factors may be the result of students' already poor visual acuity rather than causes of the decrease. In conclusion, many elementary school children experience significant decrease in visual acuity and need special intervention to maintain or improve their visual acuity.

It is a descriptive study for the relationship between appearance management behaviors and mental health of some female college students. We analyzes 433 self-administered questionnaires from March to June 2017 for female students who enrolled in three-year colleges in Seoul and Gyeonggi province, South Korea. The conclusion is as follows. We used IBM SPSS Statistics 22.0(SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) for the analysis by person's characteristics, t-test and one way ANOVA, multiple regression analyses. The second-year grade shows higher points than the first-year grade in appearance management behaviors and mental health level(p<0.001, p<0.05). In addition, when students has the higher level of the household as the humanities students, they have higher level of mental health level(p<0.001). The most influential factors affecting the mental health level of female college students are domestic economic level and cosmetic management behavioral factors. The level of mental health was higher in the middle and upper group of the domestic economic level. When they do more cosmetic management behavior, they have lower the mental health level. In conclusion, it is deemed necessary for students to attend intensive and sufficient counseling with an academic advisor. The continuous attention through school counseling management services depending on grade, domestic economy level, and cosmetic management behavior is necessary in order to enhance the level of mental health for female students. In addition to that, the college needs to develop individual customized psychology counseling and educational programs through U-mental healthcare service in order to lessen the great pressure of sensitive information and provide mental consultation. The college needs to consider students' characteristics and needs from the results of this study. It is considered that a smart mental healthcare program will be needed to identify mental health of the individual through the systematic approach.
This study is to analyze the 2289 students questionnaires from 3rd to 9th grade students in order to analyze the students' perceptions change aspect by their grade about the frequency and type of students' question during various science class context. After the class contexts proposed in the questionnaire subcategorize into 19 subitems about 4 areas of class content, class pattern, class material and class process, this study examined the frequency and type of students' question during a science class by each item. The results of this study were as follows. First, the type of students' question was that the most frequent was understanding question and the second was memory question and these both types were half frequency. There was no special tendency related the change of students' question type by school year. Second, the frequency of 4th grade students' question was the highest among other school year students and the frequency of students' question was lowered by the higher school year. The change of students' question by school year was the biggest between 3rd and 4th grade. The class strategies for improving the class effect reflect that the various and active students' question by class context and school year stimulates students' thinking and also builds up the active class environment.
Background: The incidence rate of brain tumors has increased more than 40% in the past 20 years, especially in adults. We aimed to study the clinical and pathological findings of central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to evaluate their 5 year survival rates. Materials and Methods: The archives of all patients with CNS tumors in 6 health care centers in Yazd, Iran, from 2006 to 2013, were studied. Patients data were extracted using a checklist which included age, sex, date of reference and diagnosis, date of death, clinical signs, radiography findings, pathology report, size and location of tumor, patient treatment and grade of tumor. Results: A total of 306 patient records were studied in the 8 year period. The most prevalent type of tumor was astrocytoma (n=113, 36.9%). The frequency of almost all tumor types was statistically higher in male patients (p=0.025). In most cases surgery with radiotherapy was the treatment of choice (49.3%). The most frequent symptom reported was headache (in 60.8% of patients) followed by convulsions (15.7%). Most of the tumors were located in the right hemisphere (46.1%) and the frontal and parietal lobe (26% and 12%, respectively). Radiography findings displayed edema with a nonhomogeneous lesion in majority of the patients (87%). The survival fraction of the patients with malignant tumors decreased over time (0.807 in the first year and 0.358 at the end of the $5^{th}$ year). Conclusions: Astrocytoma was the more common CNS tumor with male predominance. Overall survival rates of malignant tumors decreased over time and this was in relation with tumor grade.
Objectives: To investigate the status of health education in elementary schools. Methods: 620 school nurses were surveyed by questionnaires from September to December in 2003. Results: 1) Among the school nurses under inquiry of planning of health education, 3.3% and 9.3% of them did not prepare for teaching plan. 2) The average time for health education by a school nurse was 96.8 hours a year, and handouts for health education were distributed 10.6 times. Among the contents of health education, sex education took the largest portion of health education with 24.6 hours a year. 3) With regard to the contents of health education covered by school nurses, sex education ranked first with 90.2%, next came drug abuse with 78.4%, dental health, CDC, disease control, healthy life and smoking, body structure and function and growth and development safety, alcohol, nutrition and environmental health followed them. 4) The main contents of education were CDC, dental health sex, healthy life and disease control for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students, sex, CDC, disease control and safety for 4th grade students, and sex, CDC, drug abuse and smoking for 5th and 6th grade students. 5) 72.6% of school nurses used class room for health education, 20.0% and 7.4% of them used grade and others such as broadcast, respectively. 6) 42.1% of school nurses used blackboard, 37.0% and 18.6% of them used visual media and handout as a teaching aids for health education. 7) 31.6% of school nurses replied that education time was insufficient 9.5% and 15.9% of them replied the contents of health education were inadequate and methods of health education were inappropriate, respectively. Conclusions: For the successful school health education, it would be in need of sufficient time for health education by opening health education course and of modify the various working conditions of school nurses, and those of effective educational materials and media for health education.
The aim of the study was to investigate the results of bladder irrigation with Water for Injection (WFI) after transurethral resection of bladder tumours for comparison with those for adjuvant use of BCG. A total of 239 patients (158 with single tumours, group A, and 81 with multiple tumours, group B) received continuous intravesical postoperative irrigation with WFI. Some 128 patients received intravesical irrigation with WFI, followed by weekly instillations of BCG (group C). Recurrence-free rate (RFR) and recurrence-free intervals (RFI) were recorded. RFR for those patients who received only intravesical irrigation with WFI (groups A and B) was 75.8%, 66.2% and 63.2% at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year of follow up, respectively. Corresponding rates for group C were 61.7%, 55.4% and 49%. Median RFI in group B were 18, 11, 15, 15 and 12 months for Ta, T1, grade 1, grade 2 and grade 3 tumours, respectively. In group C corresponding intervals were 20, 33, 8, 20 and 42 months. BCG improved RFR only in T1 (p=0.014) and grade 3 tumours (p=0.007). In conclusion, postoperative bladder irrigation with WFI could increase RFR during the first and second year of follow up.

The conclusion of comparison and analysis on illustration of the grade 5 and 6 science textbooks in the 2007 curriculum and the 2009 revised curriculum as follows. First, according to the comparison and analysis result on in the textbook, science textbook of year 2009 revised for grade 5 and 6 had 1.65 illustration per page and for the 2007 curriculum, it had 1.98 illustrations per page having 0.83 times more illustrations than that of the previous one. Second, the types of illustrations both textbooks had a higher ratio of pictures that are very detailed and objective which can identify scientific facts. In terms of role of illustration, illustrations providing various and realistic data related to the learning for students to have enough scientific experiences accounted for the most ratios.
Background: Preclinical studies have shown that the combination of an aromatase inhibitor (AI) and capecitabine in estrogen receptor (ER)- positive cell lines enhance antitumor efficacy. This retrospective analysis of a group of patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) evaluated the efficacy and safety of combined AI with capecitabine. Materials and Methods: Patients with hormone receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer treated between 1st January 2005 and 31st December 2010 with a combination of capecitabine and AI were evaluated and outcomes were compared with those of women treated with capecitabine in conventional dose or AI as a monotherapy. Results: Of 72 patients evaluated, 31 received the combination treatment, 22 AI and 19 capecitabine. The combination was used in 20 patients as first-line and 11 as second-line treatment. Mean age was 46.2 years with a range of 28-72 years. At the time of progression, 97% had a performance status of <2 and 55% had visceral disease. No significant difference was observed between the three groups according to clinical and pathological features. Mean follow up was 38 months with a range of 16-66 months. The median PFS of first-line treatment was significantly better for the combination (PFS 21 months vs 8.0 months for capecitabine and 15.0 months for AI). For second-line treatment, the PFS was longer in the combination compared with capecitabine and Al groups (18 months vs. 5.0 months vs. 11.0 months, respectively). Median 2 year and 5 year survival did not show any significant differences among combination and monotherapy groups. The most common adverse events for the combination group were grade 1 and 2 hand-for syndrome (69%), grade 1 fatigue (64%) and grade 1 diarrhoea (29%). Three grade 3 hand-foot syndrome events were reported. Conclusions: Combination treatment with capecitabine and AI used as a first line or second line treatment was safe with much lowered toxicity. Prospective randomized clinical trials should evaluate the use of combination therapy in advanced breast cancer to confirm these findings.
The purpose of this study was to examine the change of couple relationship factors predicting marital satisfaction and divorce intention over time tv comparing the couples' first year with their present year of marriage. The couple relationship factors consisted of affection, ambivalence, affectional expression, the expression of negativity. The study subjects 355 married women having preschool children aged 7 years old and elementary school students in the 6th grade. Data were analyzed by SPSSWIN with the method of MANOVA. The results of this study showed that couples in happy groups without divorce intention became less affectionate and demonstrated less affectional expression, and more ambivalence and expression of negativity over time. However, the amount of change was not as large as that of the unhappy groups. The findings of this research indicated that the decline of affection and affectional expression and the increase of ambivalence and expression of negativity were probably, as normative, a natural consequence of the transition from the first year of marriage to a more mature relationship. Therefore, the change over time was not important. However, the amount and aspects of change were the main points which researchers and practitioners should pal attention to in the future.
Objective: Using data from the Panel Study on Korean Children, this study investigated the influence of teacher'thoughts about the transition from ECEC to primary school in relation to learner-centered teaching methods and children's school adjustment. Methods: We analyzed the longitudinal data of 658 seven-year-olds from the 8th and 9th waves of the panel study of Korean children collected by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education in 2015 and 2016.
